RATING: 5 Ginger is now operating independently in a private studio on Park Blvd. I think the present situation is much better then the old arrangement of having two massage tables in the same room when she shared with Lu Lu. This was the first session I ever had with Ginger. Previously I was worked on by Lu Lu and was pleased with the session that I received. I would describe Ginger as a 40-something Chinese woman that radiates traditional Chinese values, and immediately puts you at ease when you’re with her. Her English is good, so you can tell her what it is that needs extra attention and she does her best to accommodate. I always look at what the therapist brings to the session when I get bodywork. Are they distant and non-attached or are they totally present and there for you? Thankfully, Ginger is of the later variety. I think the Pearl Buck novel«The Good Earth» describes her work well: «There was only this perfect sympathy of movement, of turning this earth of theirs over and over to the sun, this earth which formed their home and fed their bodies and their Gods.» The above quote describes the way I felt during the session with Ginger, it was like my body was being formed over and over again. It’s important to note that while the sessions are therapeutic, that in no way detracts from the enjoyment of them. Ginger does excellent work. She is very comfortable in her strokes and doesn’t hesitate to get up high and work those tight muscles. The drape that she uses is very unobtrusive. and I opted for the two hour session and was glad that I did. I like heavy pressure and Ginger was able to bring it, I didn’t even have to ask for more pressure. I should point out that I’ve never felt more heat come out of someone’s hands during a session then I did from Ginger. This is a good thing, the Chinese call it Qi or energy that helps revitalize your system. A slight quibble for some people might be that I did feel her fingernails sometimes during point work, it didn’t bother me but I’m sure if you said something, she would modify and you wouldn’t feel it. To me it just added to the authenticity of the experience. Going to see Ginger is like enrolling in a cultural exchange program, not of China today but of China in the mid 19th century. However Ginger did it, she made me feel like I was the central character of «The Good Earth», and I walked away from the session with a profound feeling of respect for traditional Chinese culture. If you would like to experience ancient Chinese hospitality and culture and don’t feel like traveling farther than Park Blvd, Ginger is your Gal. I know I did, I liked it, and I’ll be back.
