I work off the 805 freeway and the only decent taco shop worth traveling to is Harvest by the 15 freeway. I was just recently told that Harvest also owns the fairly new taco shop by my work called Yesenia’s. Huge win for me! I came here last Friday try them out and they have the same exact menu as Harvest. Same salsa bar and same everything! I ordered the California burrito and you can tell their tortillas are made fresh. The meat was good as well as the fries. All the local taco shops in the area just don’t compare. Their either way overpriced or the food is mediocre. Not Yesenia’s! If you’re in the Kearny Mesa area looking for a good taco shop, Harvest and Yesenia’s are the go-to spots.

These were goooood tacos! It had plenty of meat and were hige! The burrito was good too — steak breakfast burrito but slightly smaller than others I’ve had. The ship is also cute, cozy, and colorfully decirated. Ooopg! And theu have a ton of small condiments including cooked peppers, bell peppers, and green onions! The greens and tomatoes tasted very fresh, and that’s very important

I am on the search for some seriously good enchiladas. I am convinced that where I am from originally has the best enchiladas, and that SD puts too much focus on the delicious taco. I came here on my search for a super satisfying enchilada, and was neither thrilled nor disappointed. It is pretty standard for a Mexican food place, from the menu offerings to the tacos. They do have a pretty serious carne asada plate, which is GREAT. The enchiladas are just fine, which is not bad considering my intense love for the enchilada. I would come back here. The place is clean and cozy, the staff is friendly, and the prices are fair. I’d recommend this place, too! Not out of this world great, but certainly a welcomed restaurant in Clairemont.

This place is a solid choice for lunch. I ordered the lengua burrito and even though it wasn’t on the menu, they made it. The meat was seasoned very well and the size of the burrito was quite large for the price.

This is my first time here, I had the carne asada plate. It was pretty good. Unfortunately here were just a bunch of young kids at the shop today. There were no acknowledgement with any customers. I understand it’s a family restaurant but having a maybe nine year old girl at the register, and young guys that work there talking about sex and other inappropriate things made things real uncomfortable. I just devoured my plate and dipped out of there. It’s sad

With places like this all over San Diego, I can’t comprehend why anybody goes to Chipotles. The carnitas burrito here is less expensive and twice as good. Will definitely be coming back.

My rolled tacos sucked, because they were too hard as if they were deep fried for too long, BUT the carne asada burrito was BOMB.COM! Also like how they have all those sauces which really enhance the flavor of your food. Try it!

This place is true authentic mexican food! All the salsa is delicious; there are three red and three green. The tacos have real, homemade shells and the tortillas are fresh as well. The chicken and beef taquitos/tacos/tostadas were well prepared; not too heavy on any one ingredient. The bathrooms are generally clean and the staff is friendly.

First timer. Got a shrimp burrito. I was on the small side for the price of $ 7.00. Appears to be a family ran business. I will probably be back. I frequent there neighbors(Turner’s) Saw that they also serve beer. Would have been 5 stars if the burrito was slightly bigger.

Tuesday at lunch time usually means tacos and Yesenia’s was a great place to stop by and get some. Although its hidden in the corner of a busy little strip mall, they have tons of banners out front to grab your attention. This taco shop has a good sized dining room along with a bigger than usual salsa bar. Their quite extensive salsa bar( ) features six sauces, carrots, limes, diced veggies and even a little annex station for warm roasted peppers, nopal, and Mexican onions( ). Out of all their sauces, I found their semi dark red sauce to be the best with lots of flavor and a good amount of spice behind it. Yesenia’s menu is large and has both a good amount of breakfast items that are served all day, burritos and meat plates. They mostly carry the standard taco shop faire, but they do have«grande» burritos for those who want to challenge themselves, they are double wrapped and have a slew of stuff inside. I went with two tacos(2.70ish each) and made it a combo with beans/rice for three bucks more. The plate( ) came out very hot and was definitely a large of portion for lunch. The carne asada( ) here was quite good, cut up into perfect sizable chunks and cooked to order had lots of flavor to it. The pollo asado( ) was okay, it was a lot more bland than the carne and needed a bit more marinade to it, it even looks bland from the picture. Tortillas were excellent, fresh tasting, soft and warm to the touch. The guacamole was a little too runny for my liking but still tasted great on the tacos. They threw a lot of beans and rice on the plate to compliment the tacos, both of which were really delicious and seasoned great. Great taco shop here to grab lunch, I don’t think they are open very late for dinner. Service was pleasant here as well, food came out promptly and very friendly people here. For a small taco place, this place is immaculately clean and organized. All the little extras you get with your food, not to mention the great sauces make Yesenia’s a excellent place to grab some Mexican grub for lunch.

Consistency is so important. I will review every item that I order and eat from here, as I have found that there are good, great, and bad items I have had. We moved an ofc to Kearny Mesa so we found this yummy sometimes and great place. Today I walked in and ordered chips/nachos with guacamole and cheese. I paid $ 5.47 and then tipped another $ 1 because of yesterday’s order. It was ready in 5 min and when I got to work to eat it, I realized why. First of all, the package was light when I picked it up, red flag. It was in a tiny black styro container and there were literally like 15 – 20 small tortilla chips and a drizzle of guac, lots of salsa fresca, and small sprinkle of cheese on it. I ate it in 4 min, literally. What a disappointment. I could have gone to Sombreros off the 52&Convoy and paid less, but gotten more. Was it because I’m a woman that my order was so small? Hmm… jury’s out for more items. I will keep you all posted. By the way, yesterday my coworker(male) ordered carne asada chips/nachos for me and they were HUGE and delicious, and in a larger containter. It will be awhile before I invest in an appetizer portion and pay $ 6.47 total from here. See my picture posted of the tiny appetizer for full price.

The carnitas was good, but a little too salty for me. The salsa bar had a great selection, with lots of salsa and topping options. The carrots were not overly spicy or vinegary(is that a real word? I’m using it anyway…), and they have the onion/cilantro Rubio’s topping too. My friend ordered a couple of custom, off-menu items. They made her chicken flautas, and they were pretty good. I like them with cheese inside, but you don’t see many restaurants that offer them any more. I will go back and try a breakfast burrito, that will be the true Litmus test!

Another epic fail of using my entertainment coupon. It says buy one get one free up to $ 6.00 on their coupon but apparently Yesenia’s doesn’t honor ANY coupons. I’m pretty sure the workers here couldn’t be unhappier. The cashier looked like I was wasting him time by ordering. $ 3.99– 3 rolled beef tacos with guacamole and cheese. The guac was definitely mixed with tons of sour cream. No fresh tomatoes on the rolled tacos either. They are more expensive than other places by about a dollar. Some other taco joints even give 5 rolled tacos with cheese, guac and sour cream for $ 3.99. $ 6.50??- soggy french friends and overcooked carne asada. No guacamole inside the burrito but they did give a small amount of sour cream. Salsa bar looked pretty sad and dirty as well. Come back again? no way!

After dropping off my vehicle for an oil change, I stopped in here for breakfast while I waited. I ordered the bacon, ham, potato, cheese, and scrambled eggs breakfast burrito with multiple helpings to their clean and fresh salsa bar( ). The burrito larger than most breakfast burrito I have had and the quality of the flour tortilla was of very good quality( ). They generously filled the burrito with crispy and tasty bacon, savory ham, and tender well seasoned potatoes( ). The scrambled eggs were well scrambled and if this burrito needed anything more, it would of been more cheese( ). I tried a variety of their salsas and my favorite was the fresca with coarse chopped tomatoes, onions, and chili peppers. It was fresh, vibrant, and had great flavor that went well with the burrito( ). The two guys who were running the Yesenia’s where quite the characters. They were in good spirits, friendly, and were just having a good time. Great breakfast burrito.
