This place is great! Good quality items and its the healthiest place to eat on campus! The lemonade is made fresh every morning!

I will definitely not eat here again. I ordered the grilled chicken verona sandwich. For $ 7 I expected my sandwich to be semi-decent if not spectacular. In terms of sandwiches, I would much rather have Subway which is cheaper and more filling. This does not compare to other sandwich places I have had where I had to pay a comparable price. Big mistake on my part to come here when I had heard good things about this place. I guess people don’t know what good food tastes like if they are coming here…

Tried this place out today because the chipotle salad on the menu caught my eye. I ordered it with chicken, avocado, pepper jack cheese and tortilla strips. It was a good meal for less than $ 6. The only thing that I didn’t like was that the girl that made my salad put only two slices of avocado in the whole salad. I love avocado, especially in my salad so I was I would get more. By the time I noticed I was too far on campus to go back and claim to get more, so I dealt with it. The salad was good. It reminded me of the southwestern chicken salad at Salad Sensations, which I miss a lot. So I will be eating this salad some more this semester. AFFORDABLE + HEALTHY + ONTHESDSUCAMPUS = HELLYES!

So I ordered a Baguette Fromage which is made with four cheeses, caramelized onions, tomato, mixed greens, garlic choice aioli, oven toasted on a demi-baguette. The cashier didn’t know how to pronounce the name of the sandwich so I’m keeping my expectations low. It obvious that this is an Aztec Shops creation, so they began low from the get-go. The verdict: meh. I’ve had toastier sandwiches from my microwave – Lean Cuisine does a great job toasting their paninis, but I digress. From the photo I can hopefully, post, you can barely see the cheese poking out, but I guess it had a fair amount. I was expecting a mixture of delicious French cheeses, but the cheese in this sandwich tasted more like the American cheese-product variety. The sandwich was pretty bland. The bright side: the accompanying pickle was nice. All sandwiches also come with your choice of pasta salad or potato salad(so much for healthy options). Also, there was no nutritional information to be see, so who knows how much this experiment cost me in calories. I may try one of their other sandwiches, maybe the tri-tip sandwich or the Californian… just to see if their meat and other breads taste any better. I foresee another Aztec Shops failure due to their consistent bad management, poor training of their staff and lack of quality control. Hopefully the $ 6 subs across the way at Vinnie’s are still available. At least their bread is toasted correctly and the card board containers prevent their bread from becoming soggy; unlike the wax paper wrapped sandwiches at West Coast.
