Wells Fargo Bank

I came in to this Wells Fargo location the other day and sat down with Jessica Augustine. I had some questions about my credit and needed my full report brought up. Jessica was patient with me, throughly answered all my questions, and even gave me a list of different options I had for my next step. She made sure I understood everything she was explaining, and I never felt rushed of pressured to purchase other services. Overall I had a great experience thanks to all of Jessica’s help!

Locked out of my account while traveling in thailand. Trying to call customer service and they are «experiencing unusually high call volume» and I’m on hold for 30 minutes before talking to anyone. The problem persist over 3 days each time I call back they are «experiencing unusually high call volume». If they are constantly experiencing these problems why don’t they fix them? Local bank says they can’t do anything and to call the 800 number like they are completely separate entities and have nothing to do with each other which is weird because they share the same logos. I am sure if I called the bank for a new home loan they would answer right away and help me.

I used to bank at Wells Fargo for close to 15 years, dealing with so many fees and horrible BS charges and horrendous, rude customer service and endless problems. I haven’t been into a Wells Fargo for more than 4 years. Today I went into the branch in Hillcrest to get quarters. I brought cash, and asked for quarters in exchange. The teller rudely told me that she would «make an exception this one time but she wouldn’t be able to give me quarters again.» In total disbelief, I asked, «uh, you are making an exception this one time to give me quarters but you won’t give me quarters again?» and she repeated «I will make the exception this one time to give you quarters, but won’t again.» I was utterly mortified. I have gotten quarters before at many other banks locally. Unfortunately I just happened to go into this bank today. UnF**king believable.

The customer service here is completely whack. At least if you want to do more than speak with a teller. Whack.

In this day and age whether it be a bank or any other large company everyone is just a number.
This review is not about a review of the bank per se, but a Personal Banker who has exceptional customer service and professional skills. If you are looking for a bank or already bank with this branch and if you have questions or situations that present themselves please do not hesitate to seek him out. He will take care of you and make you feel better about banking with Wells Fargo.

I went to this branch a few Friday’s ago after work. I received the best customer service that I have received in years. I noticed that the associate was friendly to the couple ahead of me, very personable. I was delighted to have the same, GREAT customer service from beginning to end. She was friendly, personable, professional — top notch!

Slowest and least helpful Wells Fargo. So many frustrating experiences here and am always disappointed when I give them another try. It is literally faster to drive to the Washington st location than to do business here.

I don’t like big banks generally, I’m a credit union kind of guy, but my experience this week dealing with Wells Fargo in Hillcrest trying to do my duties to the estate of my friend who passed away, further confirms I’m correct in my assessment. After spending 4 hours and 20 minutes on sat and time on wed. and leaving phone messages for the person at the Hillcrest branch named Eric, who hasn’t returned my calls. I’m done. The people there have no compassion, no desire to demonstrate customer service, nothing. I am always curious why anyone would deal with these big box banks anyway. Their policies are ridiculously cumbersome and antiquated. They have a lot of people they call «bankers» which are glorified tellers with not a lot of experience except in trying to sell their product. Funny thing, the banker Eric I have been dealing with let slip that he personally banks at San Diego County Credit Union (my credit union) except for an account he is forced to keep at Wells for direct deposit pay checks. UGH! I hate Wells Fargo. As we speak, I’m waiting for a call from the branch manager so I can explain my situation and also let him (Brock) know how difficult this has been. Based on my experience so far, I’m not holding my breath that he will call.

I’ll have to say this, the management for Merchant Services stand behind their employees, even when they are wrong.
I dealt with a rep named Matt He wanted to set me up with credit card machine service. It was a two year contract and a number of other charges I could not afford, as this was to be a temporary use machine. Matt, in front of a Wells Fargo Bank account rep., said he would waive ALL fees and that I would only pay when I actually used the machine to process donations. He lied and the Merchant Services people can only say «You signed the contract…» Don’t do business with these people.

Poor customer service. I was not issued a new debit card once mine expired. I didn’t realize that it had expired and when I called to order a new one the girl on the phone was extremely rude, put me on hold for 30 minutes and then hung up on me! The next day was Labor Day so the bank was closed and so I had no access to my money for almost 3 days. Of course it was when my rent was due so that posed a problem. Of course it could have all been avoided if I would have realized my card was going to expire. Or if they would have had decent customer service.

…they play a variety of music when you walk into the lobby. Rather than stale elevator music. Every time I walk through the door, I am greeted with a smile and how can I help you?
My usual is seeing a teller for my transactions. However, I have seen a «banker». Meaning someone who can do more than a teller. I have seen a variety of tellers. (I do have favorites.) Should I be unhappy with anything… I receive superb customer service! They don’t let me leave unless I’m happy.
They don’t have restrooms for the public. But, I have used their employee restrooms. (I just couldn’t hold it any longer.) They were nice enough to let me use their restroom. Of course I had to be escorted… And, they were clean.
A few things to keep in mind when you visit this location…
The parking can be difficult. There are parking spots for 15 to 30 minutes. In addition to 2 hour parking. But don’t stay longer than the allowed time. Parking police is out and hungry to give you a ticket. Within walking distance of the bank, there are many shops and stores. Everything from clothing stores, to Trader Joe’s, Ralphs, Paneras, and Starbucks. This is a busy location no matter when you visit.

We really like Wells Fargo overall as a bank. We have multiple accounts with the overall banking institution itself. However, we have found the effectiveness of the personnel at this branch to be awful at best. Read on…
Let’s start with the best part first. At least AFTER the 1^st visit, the staff has been very friendly, helpful, and mostly quick with lines. They SEEM to do the right work and promise the work they completed will fulfill your request. That’s where the problems start…
1^st visit: My fiancée waited over 1 hour to speak to a customer service rep just to get a new ATM card and order checks. Other customers were waiting a similar amount of time and outright complaining in the lobby. My fiancée finally ordered her new ATM card and checks after a LONG wait.
After 1^st visit: The new ATM card arrived but did not work. The PIN had been set up incorrectly by Wells Fargo staff. Upon calling into the bank to fix the issue we were advised we had to go back to the bank. Also, the new checks were printed with an incorrect address where we lived 3 locations ago.
2^nd visit: The wait was luckily very short. The ATM PIN issue was supposedly fixed by the customer service staff and we wend on our way.
After the 2^nd visit: The ATM PIN still did not work. Again, we were advised to go back to the bank. This is also when we noticed the wrong address on our checks that arrived.
3^rd visit: The ATM PIN was corrected. We ordered new checks again.
After 3^rd visit: The ATM PIN is working. However, the new checks have not arrived after 3 weeks.
While systemic issues may exist that are conspiring to create some of these issues we have not been satisfied with the effectiveness of this branch. We now use the ATM if needed but avoid going into the location for banking.

Who gave Wells five stars?! Oh heaaaaaaallll NO!
I walked up in here recently (unarmed with weapons, only brainpower) and was like daaaaamn, i do NOT like this place!
I see these ‘refer a friend’ fliers on the counter as i sit and wait to talk to ma main man Pramod. Ok… whatcha gunna gimme Wells?!
Refer someone to Wells and get… fees waived for a year? $ 100 cash? 0% interest on a Wells Credit Card? a ‘bypass the line’ card? your name in lights??? NO, and if you dont find this comical, you probably gave these fools 5 stars and referred an unsuspecting friend; NO, you get a friggin STUFFED ANIMAL! Ohhhhh ma goooooooodness! Refer a friend to this bank which is worth roughly 235 BILLION dollars, with 47 BILLION dollars in revenue and… theyll give ya a STUFFED ANIMAL!
You have gotsta be kiddin me! Have people really become that complacent and ‘dumbed-​down’ to not question the absurdity of this?! What the hell is going on? I cant even light up the terrible customer service i got from ma main man Pramod due to this glowing RIDICULOUSNESS!
People, please, take a moment… ok, now, on 3… ONE, TWO, THREEEEEEEEE! If we all pick up a STUFFED ANIMAL at once, and throw it at Wells Fargo, maaaaaaaybe we can bury it so deep beneath our «ive had it!» attitudes, never to be heard from or seen again! «Cellllllebrate good times CMON!»
Absolute disgust.

Bizarre experience, walked in 10 minutes til closing, with a Cashiers Check from a Wells Fargo client, was told they were out of money and could not cash it because 4000 $ was alot of money, I looked around confused, after all I was standing inside of a bank, she then said unless you mind 20’s I was happy and she came back and said, well can’t do that, New excuse was Since I was not a Wells Fargo member the max they could cash is 2000 $ again I looked around, yes I was still in the bank and yes it was Wells Fargo, all common sense just took a back seat at this point, I was then told that I would have to go to another branch in the ghetto to cash this check, I was beyond confused, the girl just said the max was 2000 $ anyways I ended up having to cash it at a check cashing place costing me a 110 $. I am just adding this experience to the list of why I do not bank with Wells Fargo anymore.

Went into this Wells Fargo last week to set up a savings account for my wedding. I have been a Wells Fargo customer since 1990-​something. Pramod Parekh not only helped me with this savings account, but also showed me an entirely new way to look at my money. He is so kind and patient and explains things so clearly and concisely (sometimes more than once for this absent-​minded girl!!). What he has done for me has helped me get such a better grasp on my finances and I am now able to save much more money than I thought for my wedding. Also, Michelle Hasten the branch manager came over while I was sitting with Pramod and was just as nice, offering me her card and thanking me for my business at Wells Fargo. I’ve never been more impressed with anyone’s customer service like I was with theirs. Will be banking with Pramod from now on.

This branch gets 5 stars for their customer service, professionalism, cleanliness, efficiently (keeping those lines moving), and hours of operation. If I have to go to a Wells Fargo, it MUST be this branch because these people have it together here.
Unfortunately, Wells as a bank just absolutely sucks. Where to begin? Every time I pay my credit card off, they REDUCE my limit! My card went from 9000 to 4500 the first time I paid it off! Then the second time I paid it off, they shaved it down to 1000. Talk about rewarding your customers for paying their bills on time? I’ve been a customer for 10 years and they have done nothing but raise the interest rate on my card, increase all their fees, and lower my available credit. And like other reviewers say, all I get it «all the other banks are doing it».
Good for them. I now do business with «those other banks» including San DIego County Credit Union for my checking account, and Citibank for my credit cards. Citi has never lowered my credit line and has been very upfront about interest rates (currently 15.24), they are tied directly to prime, so as long as prime stays low your card stays low, but Wells charged me 24.9% and that was the REGULAR rate, not the PENTALTY rate!
Now let’s talk about overdraft fees. Wells fargo charges you over $ 20 dollars to use YOUR money in YOUR SAVINGS ACCOUNT to pay an overdraft on your checking account! Sorry guys but that is an outright FRAUD charging me money to use my money. The credit union only charges $ 4 for this service.
Do yourself a favor, close your accounts, and move over to a credit union, the process is actually much easier then you think.

I think it’s fair to say that most of us have had a negative experience or two during our banking years. I suppose it’s all part of banking initiation — to feel beatup, before it feels right! (Ha!) Most of us get upset with the bank for charging us overdraft fees (while, usually a ridiculous amount, true) — but HELLO… it really is rather simple, don’t try spending more money than you’ve got! A lesson even I’ve had go learn the hard way!
That said, I love, love, LOVE this branch. Personable, always smiling, always professional, and always ready to help. One of my favorite bankers, Gerardo!
Granted, I also do my business banking here as well; and having the same business banker, everytime — (Nasrin O., who always seems to have an answer before I even get to her office) feels priceless!
In short, customer service at this branch, is unmatched!

I hate Wells Fargo. Wells Fargo is the worst bank that I have ever banked with. If you are considering opening an account with them, reconsider and go with San Diego County Credit Union.
So, if I feel this way: Why 5 stars?
The Hillcrest location is amazing!
The staff there are actually good at their jobs. Every time I walk in the door, I am greeted with a smile and friendly greeting. The tellers are helpful and always upbeat; They are conversational when it is slower and efficient when there is a line.
It is such a relief to find a Wells Fargo where I don’t feel like I am troubling the teller to do their job. In fact, though I do not work in Hillcrest, I choose to bank here because of this amazing Wells Fargo location.

Wells Fargo sucks. I don’t care how much they smile at the branch, their default answer to me has always been, «well, all the other banks do the same thing.» Well, here’s a shocker, Wells Fargo: TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT FROM THE OTHER BANKS!
Instead charging $ 35 for a $ 1 overdraft, how about charging a percentage?
Here’s another FREE idea: pay people’s charges as they come in, that is, don’t reorder them so you can get the most out of the overdraft charges.
Here’s another FREE idea: if your customer already has to pay a fee to use a non-​Wells Fargo ATM, DON’T charge them an additional fee.
And finally, maybe you should find a way to handle complaints properly. Whenever I ask for a number to complain about service, they offer me an address and tell me to write a letter. Really? In the 21^st century you don’t have an email address or even a phone number to deal with complaints?
I have had accounts at Citibank and Chase, but have never been nickel and dimed as much as I have at Wells Fargo, with which I have had an account for 10 years. It is really the worst bank I have ever had to deal with in my life.

I don’t go inside very often since the ATMs are very easily accessible and they have those fancy scanners for deposits.
Of the few times that I have been inside though the employees are awesome and welcoming. In general I am not Wells Fargo’s biggest fan, BUT I do applaud their involvement in the community and that is why I have an account with them!
