My favorite indian place! The Tikka masala is amazing. The portions are really good as well, easy to share. The butter chicken would be a close second. The Lassi is also very good.

If you expect that Indian food will be served just forget it, you will end up tasting differnt cusine invented by «Village Indian cusine» The reason they have such high rating is coz they offer 10 percent discount for writing review. If this is the last place in world dont go please ots beetter to have just salads rather then having fake Indian food

I love their lunch buffet! Always consistently good and delicious with all the good standard Indian dishes. Would definitely recommend their lunch buffet. Haven’t gotten anything else though :)

My friends and I ventured to Village Indian after craving some indian food. Coming on a Friday evening, we were a little confused with how to order — some people sat down with menus where as others ordered at the counter. We ultimately opted to order at the counter, each of us ordering from the dinner specials(curries that come with rice and naan). After a few minutes, our 4 curries came out with 2 plates of rice piled to the top, and a basket with naan stacked to the brim. Though I ordered the curry chicken, I got bites of the chicken tikka masala and a saag(spinach) dish: –curry chicken: if you are looking for something on the lighter side, this is the dish for you. My personal favorite. –chicken tikka masala: a lot heavier than the chicken curry, seemed like the same base but with some sort of cream added. –saag: i only had a small bite but I did enjoy how they had vegetarian options. –the rice was a little bland but the naan was on point. Overall, solid place with great portions. Would come again.

Pretty mediocre. Have been to this place a few times over the years for dinner(have never been for the lunch buffet.) I was never a huge fan, but it was convenient, decent and my GF liked it. I’m afraid last night will be the LAST night we go back. The food really wasn’t that good — we got three dishes: Sag Paneer — best of all three. Nice flavor, nice cubes of cheese. Overall, very good. Yellow Daal — absolutely the worst! This is supposed to be a lentil dish, yet there was not a single lentil to be found. I guess they blended or rather pulverized the dish. It was watery and flavorless! A real disappointment. Aloo Gobi — middle of the road. Wasn’t horrible, but wasn’t great. Basmati rice — what can I say, hard to mess up rice. Garlic Naan — I specifically asked for no cilantro — TWICE. The guy didn’t bother to write it down on the order, but instead said he’d tell the kitchen. Of course he didn’t, but I didn’t find out until I got home with the order. Needless to say, won’t be returning to this place again.

Overall pretty good Indian buffet. I needed a quick and filling lunch so I stopped by here after seeing it on Unilocal. It was about $ 9.95 for lunch which is a great deal. You pay at the counter and then eat till you explode. They had a great variety of dishes to choose from including a beef dish which I have never seen at an indian restaurant before! There were plenty of veggie dishes as well. I was sad not to see any samosas or pakoras however as those are some of my favorite Indian dishes. My favorite was the veggie korma and the mango chicken. The place is small and the tables are a bit close together but when I came it wasn’t packed so I had no problem getting around. Service was good as the workers were friendly and they cleared my table away often.

The Indian food here was very good. I came here for the buffet and while some of the deserts were empty and unfilled during my entire visit everything else looked fresh and was very good. One in particular that I am glad I tried despite the aesthetic appearance of it was the mushroom saag. It tasted great but won’t win any beauty contests. The music here is a little too loud but is certainly ethnic and nice to listen to. I was somewhat surprised to see one beef dish on the serving line also. Some of the chicken entrées were a little overcooked and dry like the red chicken and the basmati rice with chicken. Even the butter chicken, despite being delicious, was somewhat overcooked. Despite these apparent cons the food was tasty and considering the price being under $ 11 per person at the buffet it was an enjoyable experience and something people should try.

Indian lunch buffet from 11 to 3pm for around $ 10, YES. Pay up front, pick a table yourself, and get started. Fresh naan that you can ask for more of anytime as well. This lunch buffet has a pretty good variety of food. Usual finds such as saag, chicken tikka masala, and daal, but I was also glad they had goat(or lamb?) curry which was my favorite. The meat in all the selections was tender and the sauces were all very flavorful(which means great for eating with naan). In particular, there was one vegetable dish where the sauce was very creamy and delicious – find it and love it. Good selection of both meat and vegetarian options as well, and they were still making fresh food even 30 or 40 minutes before lunch buffet ended. Ended my third trip to the buffet with some mango mousse and rice pudding, yum. I definitely ate too much that day… Friendly workers, clean and spacious location, and lots and lots of food. Even when it isn’t Indian buffet, the food is quite cheap so definitely stop by either way for some good Indian food!

After seeing so many great reviews on this place I have to say I was pretty let down. First of all they seriously need to rearrange the tables inside, we were seated about 2 feet next to another party and it was pretty awkward at first, it was almost as if we were sitting at the same table. There’s plenty of space in there to make adjustments and I don’t know why they haven’t done it yet. Secondly they need another 1 or 2 people working there. The restaurant was pretty full and there were people constantly coming and ordering to-go as well as calling on the phone a bunch of times. We had to wait about 40 minutes for our food. There were only 2 people working, one person in the kitchen and one in the front. As far as the food, it was just ok. I had the chicken tikka masala, and the sauce was good, but the chicken had a tough texture and didn’t seem very fresh. On the other hand, someone at the table got the garlic chicken and that was a good dish — the sauce was packed with flavor and the chicken was great. Overall, the restaurant has decent food, I’d say give it a shot if you’re in the area and craving Indian. Just order your food half an hour in advance and get it to go.

Nom! Nom! Nom! I’m from Vegas and ate here for dinner tonight. Not only was the food delicious but the portions were great and the prices were just right! You walk in and get hit with the aroma of Indian Spices. It’s warm and welcoming. Although the seating arrangements are small, it was worth the«super tight get to know you space!» We are family style. Mango Lassi received a two thumbs up! The garlic naan was«holy cow«good! Mali Kofta!!! Let me just say give me seconds! It you want to explore, this is the place to take your tastebuds!

Ok, so I love Indian food. But the problem is I also cook really good Indian food at home so I’m a bit hard to please. We went and got our taxes done and we were super hungry and decided to stop by. They have an amazing buffet deal and I thought ok, why not?!? To say this was probably the worst Indian food I’ve eaten is an understatement. Bland, colorless and tasteless. I was not a happy camper. I feel like they’ve taken away from authentic Indian cooking to satisfy a larger clientele. Hey, that’s their prerogative but then don’t advertise as an Authentic Indian restaurant. I won’t be back. I left two stars. One for the warm greeting we got when we entered and one for the mango mousse — to die for!

Came for lunch buffet on a Saturday and was underwhelmed. The place is not a sit down service place but a pay at the counter place. The buffet had fewer options than I’m used to seeing and only sparse selection of condiments(no raita, chutney or pickles!). No samosas for the buffet. Pakora was cold, and two of the three meat curry options were insanely bland. Upside is that I got full for $ 10 and the naan and chicken tikka were ok, but I was disappointed by the lack of variety, flavor, and the atmosphere. Definitely more of a weekday lunch with coworkers place. I kept apologizing to my husband who said he thought it was good. We were confused as to whether we should bus our plates or not. It was very unclear but eventually the one guy working the counter came and got them and asked how everything was.

Village Indian Cuisine, how I love thee. Seriously? This food was off the hook!!! Came here a few nights ago with a friend of mine. I came here a few weeks ago for the buffet. The buffet was reasonably priced and the food was HOTHOTHOT temperature wise, which if you know me… is an important thing. I was sad that saag paneer was not included in the buffet, but vowed that I would come back to order that. So here I am!!! Ordered saag paneer extra spicy, and my friend ordered the shrimp curry and also the tandoor chicken. For the love of the lordt and in the land of the billy goat. Why did I just recently find this place? I sat there in the parking lot and was pondering whether or not I should go in and order. Almost like when you’re too lazy to get out of your car and figure grabbing fast food would be easier. Unfortunately for me, but fortunately for my bank account I have given up fast food since November. Saag Paneer is pretty much like spiced creamed spinach with curd cheese. If you’ve read my recent reviews, you can get that lately I have had a fascination with spinach. I don’t know what it is, hell, I’ll admit it… I love spinach. Too bad Unilocal doesn’t give more than 5 stars. Before Village Indian Cuisine, I was a frequent flyer/stalker of Punjabi Tandoor on activity rd. In fact I live like 2 minutes away from Punjabi, and I choose to go further for my saag paneer. That should say something… mmm…saaaaaaaag paneer. Their naan bread has always come out hot and fresh. I haven’t tried their garlic naan, but heard that it was delicious. Of each time that I’ve gone there, it’s been a little after 7pm. I’ve never had any issues with parking or waiting for a table. The men that work here are friendly and give great recommendations. Mmmmm…Village Indian Cuisine… yummmmmm

Worked near by here so came in for a try for their lunch buffet! Compared to many other Indian buffets I have been to, this was an ok place to get Indian food. I got their lunch buffet which was about $ 9.99. Not too bad I suppose but I have had Indian lunch buffet for $ 7.99−8.99 with more dishes to pick from. They have a few selection from salads, to curries, and rice. Their chicken tiki masala was one of the dishes that ate at least twice. The food here is decent indian food I would say. The customer service was really good! There wasn’t any tables for me and the workers tried their best to clean a table really fast as soon as a customer left and offered it to me. They really do try to make it work for their customers and care which I like(:

We went in late last week and ordered just before closing. The gentleman at the front was very courteous and gave us some details about the food, etc. since it was our first time there. He even hooked us up with the Unilocal review discount. The food was excellent and we would definitely go back. The only thing I wasn’t thrilled about were the peas in the baingan bharta. It’s not necessarily unusual to have peas with the eggplant — I just prefer mine without them.

I’ve been here a few times now, and the quality is consistently great! The price is good for the variety that they offer. It’s tucked away in a little plaza in Claremont Mesa and a little hard to find, but parking is never a problem. I recommend the beef curry.

Oh my gah, why did I not know about this Indian place before?!! My friend was sitting in the parking lot the night before we actually ate here, contemplating whether to go in or not for dinner. Her friend actually called her and they ended up having ramen instead. So on a rainy day, my friend picks me up, «We’re going to get Indian food and they have a buffet during lunch.» Yay for us! It’s in the small strip mall, right next to 7-eleven. Man oh man, why did we not know about this hole in the wall before. It’s better than the places off Black Mountain, waaaaaay better than Royal India on Miramar Rd. I have to say, in their buffet, my faves are tikka masala and the different veggie curries. This hole in the wall place is now my go to Indian spot. The buffet trays stay hot, the temperature stays high and your food is still steamy when you sit down to eat; compared to other Indian places I’ve been to where the food in the buffet is lukewarm at best(I’m stating this specifically to Royal India Miramar Rd). Please try this place out, you will not be disappointed, I need to come back to try their other curry dishes. If you want to get a broad trial of their curries, come during their lunch buffet.

Came here for lunch today and received the best service ever. The two gentlemen working today were so kind and attentive. They will forever have my business for that. We had the lunch buffet and it was delicious! All of our food was hot and fresh, and they always made sure to keep everything filled so they were never out of anything for the next customer. My food was nice and spicy. We were also provided with baskets of naan at our table which was much appreciated. I had a very pleasant experience here today, I would definitely recommend eating here to anyone.

Food was ok. The flavor was somewhat lacking something. I tried the Buffet on Friday. The employees really need to focus on customer service. That extra effort on customer service can really make a star difference. I’ve had better Indian food. After a basket of naan was finished, you guys should go to your customers and ask how the food is or if they want more naan. I had no utensils at first, but I grabbed had plastic ones. I used them, and I guess they realized I had no metal utensils, which they eventually supplied me with. They also have a B rating. This doesn’t mean I won’t come back, but guys, seriously, add either more salt and spices, and brush up on customer service.

Was in the neighborhood and craving indian food when we found this spot. Parking is tough because it is in a strip plaza type area with many shops; however it’s worth it. We had the lunch buffet ayce $ 8.99 per person. The food was definitely hot and fresh and they were so attentive to keep refilling and checking on it consistently to make sure nothing was too low. It happened a lot as there was a decent crowd and the food was beyond amazing. The gentleman working also made sure to clear Plates and to make sure each table had enough hot fresh nan on hand as well. The buffet offered a lovely selection of meat and vegetarian dishes. Something for everyone. Delicious! I wish I lived closer — but I will definitely travel out of my way for it!

This is mine and my wife’s Indian go-to. And just a side note, I am NOT writing this review to get 10 percent off. So before you let the negative reviews smear the image of this place– listen up. This place is incredibly clean and the staff is kind and attentive. As for the food, we’ve tried a few things off this menu but the best by far is the malai kofta and garlic naan. I can always expect a great experience. Will be back for more, usually every one or two weeks.

This is my new favorite Indian restaurant. I like their chicken tikki masala and lamb korma, medium spicy level. My husband and i always get the combination because it comes with rice and naan. The food is plenty. My husband and I order 2 combinations to share and always have extra food to bring home. I really like that the curry is thick and not watered down like some other Indian restaurants. Also their mango lassi is great. They have a lunch buffet but we haven’t tried it yet. But we definitely will. The restaurant is clean and the service is great. Very nice people.

The worst Indian food I’ve ever had. I came with my family because of the good reviews and the 4 stars on Unilocal.Turns out the ratings are inflated because if you leave a Unilocal review, you get 10% off your bill. I was tempted to do this, but you guys need to know what’s up. It’s clean and the service was good, but the food was disgusting. I didn’t taste much of the Indian spices that one would expect. I had the buffet, so I had a bit of everything. So bland. It was nice that they give a basket of naan to each table though. Not coming back ever.

Wow. First time having Indian food ever and this place was a lot better than I anticipated. I had the masala, paneer, green daal, korma, tandoori chicken and rice pilaf. Basically every single lunch buffet item. I was incredibly delighted at how flavorful and spice was here. Wide array of flavors and the spiced items were not unbearably hot but a great dimension of taste to everything. There is a green spicy cilantro-like sauce that paired well with the tandoori chicken. My favorite was the vegetable korma that had a very creamy bisque-esque consistency had tasted beyond amazing. Even this green daal dish that I think was mung bean was very tasty. Three plates into the lunch buffet I had to be responsible and tap-out. Finished the meals off with their no-mayo like slaw which had a good spice to it that I didn’t anticipate. The staff was very polite and took the initiative to let us know if we needing anything. They brought out naan when we were low without asking. This place is going to be a go-to for Indian and I will be recommending this place to anyone who asks me about Indian food.

Great place awesome service. Had the tikka masala and its was creamy, aromatic and chicken was moist. The saag paneer was delicious and lots of goat cheese. My fish curry had moist perfectly cooked fish chunks and the curry was savory and spicy. Next time I’ll ask for medium to hot spiciness. Definitely coming back.

If there was a star less than 1, i would have given that too. The food here was so bad. I went for a lunch buffet and tried almost every item on the buffet and I can say that every single one of them sucked! The food tasted so bland — no good spices, less on salt, not well cooked. I was really very disappointed with the food here and just wanted to get out of there asap. Indian food is considered to be one of the best varieties of food because of its rich spices and authentic taste, please don’t spoil that taste for everyone!

This place is a hidden gem. For our vegetarian day we ordered the bahngan bartha and saag paneer with vegetable samosa and magi lassi. Their buffet for $ 9.99 seems like a deal since it looks really good but since we can’t have any of the lamb and chicken today we decided to order from the menu. The mashed eggplant was well flavored and the spinach was tasty as well. The vegetable samosas have more spices than other Indian places so it was more flavorful. Will definitely come back to try the buffet on our non-vegetarian days. :) wish it was in more convenient location for us coming from point loma.

Came here right after opening at 11am. Very curious to see how good quality Indian buffet food they serve in this small restaurant. From 11−3pm is their buffet. Cost is cheap at 8.99 M-F and 9.99 sat and sun. Parking was an issue as many businesses share the small parking lot. To be honest, this was my first time trying out Indian food. Didn’t know what to expect, but I was in for a treat. I’m not really into curry, but the Indian version of curry was a pleasant surprise. I tried the chicken tikka masala and I swear there was a lot going on in that curry. Lots of flavor and spice sang a sweet saffron song inside my mouth. Samosas was crispy and potato filling inside was a bit much in terms of fullness. Tandoori chicken was a bit dry and seasoning was a bit salty. The naan bread was fluffy awesome to use to dip with the curry sauce. Biriyani chicken basmati rice was a bit dry but good spices. Saag paneer(green curry) was not spicy at all and a welcome addition with the plain white rice. Achari chicken was good with me with mild heat spice level. There was salad, orange slices, and rice pudding for the side items. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Bathroom was unisex yet well kept. There’s a TV that plays hindi cinema music videos. Funny thing is that I recognize some of the movies that the songs are based on. This place may have set the bar high for Indian food for me. This place is literally 3 mins. away from home. Small selection of buffet items but price is really good for what you get. If you are in the area craving for hindi cuisine, try this joint out. Jai Ho!

I was really impressed with this spot. It was very clean, small, and simple but one of the best Indian places I’ve ever been. I will definitely go again when I’m in the area. I got the shrimp masala and my bf got the chicken tikka masala based on the reviews. Both were so good! So much flavor and large portions for a great price! Combos come with your choice of naan. We got garlic but there are multiple options.

Never heard of this place before until my friend brought me here. When I came in, I thought we were supposed to order at the register since it looked like it. But they actually sit you down and you order at the tables. Indian food usually fills me up really quickly so my friend decided to order one appetizer and one entrée combo. We ordered the vegetable samosa and the chicken tikka masala. The vegetable samosa was good with the green mint hot sauce that they provide. It was crunchy on the outside and very soft in the inside. The chicken tikka masala however, was delicious! I wish it was a little spicier but the overall taste was great. They were really generous about their chicken which was a plus. I don’t know what they put in their rice but I love the texture of it! I could eat it alone if I wanted to. The prices of these dishes were affordable! Service was awesome. It seemed like only one person was serving but he did a really good job explaining the dishes and being attentive to us.
