We’ve tried so hard to like this place because it’s as close as we get to local… but tonight was the worst dining experience EVER(local, international you name it). Every iffy part of this place exploded. Terrible terrible service, horrible food. Do yourself a favor, buy a box of pasta, undercook it. Then add a jar of cold sauce and serve with a $ 7 bottle of wine. For $ 10 stay home with a better meal.

Not sure why so many mixed reviews. I am in town for work, drove into the center(Vons) because a friend said there were several restaurants there. This one was busiest. It was packed! I was lucky enough to run into coworkers and had a delicious dinner. I had burrata with prosciutto and arugula for an appetizer that was so good, I would have it again for breakfast if I could. My entrée was the chicken Marsala. It too was delicious. I nearly licked my plate(used bread instead). My dinner mates also enjoyed theirs. One had a penne with sausage that she LOVED, another had pasta carbonara(she said it was good) and another had the chicken Marsala and enjoyed it like I did. I recommend this place and will be going back.(Ps: parking spots in the center are tiny. Wth??). Also, Service was good. Not amazing, but good. Prices were also quite reasonable. :) try it!

Went to eat tonight with my family. The food was very good. However, we had to ask our server three different times to fill Our empty water glasses each time. We waited a little longer than normal to get our meal once we ordered. We sat for a while with empty plates in front of us before I finally had to ask for my check. The ambience was perfect. Will Give it one more chance to see how the service is because it’s been there for so many years plus the food is good!

Chef Antonio Viscito has created numerous Italian dishes which we enjoyed immensely over the years – Veal Ossobuco(superb!), Chicken(or Veal) Marsala(you can smell & taste the aroma of Marsala in the sauce [generous amount]), Grilled Artichokes(Jewish style with expertly sautéed golden brown garlic), Calamari in wine sauce(tender & tasty), Grilled vegetables(always with the right amount of seasoning & Parma) to name a few, & the pizza, both the dough & toppings are absolutely delicious! Icing on the cake: «Chef Antonio» welcomes his guests with great warmth & Italian charms!

We had a nice family dinner here the other night. The food, not remarkable, but very good. Basic menu and excellent service. The room is very comfortable without too much noise. They were very nice with our birthday celebration.

We had dinner at Villa Capri last evening and were generally impressed. The décor is pleasant and the restaurant is clean. Decent amount of free parking. Fair price for the food. The waitstaff was attentive and helpful. They did a very good job. The menu has numerous choices. We enjoyed the tortellini emiliani, cannelloni di carne el pesto, and a special of pork shoulder in a tomato sauce with large noodles, mushrooms and carrots. All three dishes were very good and made us decide to try this restaurant again. For dessert we had tiramisu and cannolis. We liked the tiramisu better than the cannolis.

I come here a lot for both lunch and dinner. The food is first quality and the taste is real. If you want real Italian with a the real flavors from scratch this is the place.

Have been coming for a long time for lunch and dinner. The food is amazing and very authentic. Had the barley soup which hits the spot after a long day. It was very fresh and satisfying. Had the fresh ravioli caprese which was just the right portion size for dinner. The sauce was slightly sweet in a good way and made the dish very appetizing after a few bites. Finished the meal with some tiramisu which was to DIE for. Service was outstanding and found that any request I had the manager did his best to accommodate as well as the server. The service In combination with the food makes me want to come back after each time I dine at this restaurant

Four words sum up my review: «Not Worth The Money». Food was not bad, but nothing to write home about. Service was atrocious. The condescending jerk that served our meal should go back to Italy to learn some manners. You would get better service and better food at Olive Garden. Chance of returning: zero.

It always pains me to do this, even though the 3 stars is still considered«A-OK» by Unilocal.I think the real split is between 3 and 4 stars. The quality of the food here just was not that good. Everything was very dressing, butter, or oil heavy. There was just no precision or detail put into it. I will admit. The taste was ok, but I felt like I could have gotten better food at a non-sitdown restaurant. We came here for lunch and I had a meatball sandwich and my friend had a salad. I couldn’t really make out any specific tastes because the ingredients were all mixed together in seasoning and oil. My friend just wanted dessert from somewhere else and not the food she had in front of her. I have only gone one time before so maybe I should give it another chance. Other people are saying it’s not so bad so I will go back for dinner and order something more Italian. That is what I will do.

Superb dinner tonight. The tortellini with Italian sausage was fresh the the best I have had. My wife ate light with the caprese salad and bruschetta; she finished both. A couple of large groups made the ambient noise more than I than I liked.

The special tonight ~ seared scallops in mustard sauce with angel hair pasta and veggies. Looks delicious ! Disappointed that it took so long for this simply prepared dish to come out this evening. Monday night — a bit late — crowds have left. Not sure what that’s all about!

They have some decent dishes. The best dish is actually the bread with the Tapenade Dipping sauce which they didn’t have the last time I was here. The place has a nice atmosphere which is very good for a restaurant located in a strip mall. There best dish I usually order is the shrimp pasta with black ink linguine.

We came here with a coupon deal and had no problem with the staff. In fact, this was probably the best restaurant service I have seen in a long time. It was me, my wife, and our two year old son. They offered us a booster seat for him to sit in. We declined, as my son usually doesn’t like them. But being a 2-year-old he soon changed his mind. It took no more than a glance for someone to come up and ask if I needed anything. We asked for a booster seat, and without hesitation or complaint they immediately produced one. This close attention to our need continued throughout the dining experience. From drink refills, to clearing empty plates, and asking how we were. They did everything right. As for the food: Best Italian food I’ve eaten in San Diego. For our son we ordered the mac & cheese from the kid’s menu. He’s a picky eater, but loved their mac & cheese. Totally devoured it. My wife and I ordered Palmito salads for appetizer. The Hearts of Palm were fresh and delicious. For my main entreé I ordered the Cannelloni Ripieni Gratinat. Flavors were deep and enriching, with mouthwatering levels of cheese throughout.

Came in for dinner with my boyfriend on a weeknight. My boyfriend is a doctor at Scripps, which gives its employees something called«Passport» that acts as a coupon to many local restaurants. We’ve used the coupon before at other places and saw that Villa Capri also accepted it with the«buy one entrée, get one free» deal. So, having never been here before, we decided to give it a try since we are always looking for new options for future take-out meals! Our service was just okay from the beginning, but definitely dropped off to nonexistent when my boyfriend simply asked if Scripps Passport was applicable to the pasta dishes as well as the entrees. The server first acted confused and then just annoyed. Regardless, we decided to split the Villa Capri salad and my boyfriend got spaghetti & meatballs while I had the Fusilli alla Campagnola. The food was okay, I would almost give them two stars because I actually liked the sauce a lot. We ordered the volcano for dessert too, which would’ve been good if it didn’t come with completely melted ice cream(I almost said something when the waiter brought it out because it had clearly been sitting in the back for a long time), but I just wanted to finish up the meal and not make a big deal out of it. When the check came, we saw that we were billed for the entire meal, without any sort of discount(which is surprising since we had mentioned it twice at this point). In addition, the waiter had automatically added an 18% tip on top of that(which okay, I understand, usually people forget to tip on the FULL amount when using coupons). My boyfriend was just too irritated at this point so I went up to the front counter and showed the waiter that he didn’t actually give us any sort of discount. He acted surprised and said he didn’t «notice» and finally, after another 5 – 10 minutes, he came back with a check for the appropriate amount. I still wasn’t planning on writing a review at this point, because okay, it could’ve been an honest mistake. But while we walked out the door the guy at the front(who I am assuming is the manager/owner) wouldn’t even look at us when passed by and when I said«thank you, have a good night» he just gave us a snotty«BYE.» If they’re so upset when people use Passport, then WHY do they agree to accept it? And I don’t think that we were unreasonable in simply requesting that the discount be recognized. Just horrible service overall and definitely not the way I would expect a restaurant to treat its customers. I will be sure to tell all my boyfriend’s coworkers NOT to come here, since there are plenty of other restaurants that don’t give you a hard time for using Passport, and will probably have better food too.

The food was actually pretty good, but the service made my experience horrible. Our server was condescending, arrogant and non existent. I dont know what was worse, interacting with our server for the brief moment he was there or not having a server at all! In the 50 minutes he did not return, I wanted more food, more wine and dessert, did not have the opportunity to order any of that. Asked for the check from someone else, left, and got the rest of what I wanted else where.

Mixed feelings about the food. We ordered 3 dishes. 2 pasta dishes and one chicken. Both the pastas were really good. The chicken was not that great. Good service and good atmosphere.

Had dinner here on a weeknight with 2 others. For some reason, I am guilty of unfairly and consistently underestimating shopping center restaurants. This one definitely makes up for the random setting in the areas that count: Ambiance was decent, service very good, and we were all pleased with the food. We ordered salads, chicken marsala, salmon pasta, and the squid ink pasta w shrimp. Apps were $ 8−12ish, entrees $ 15−20ish. Everything was fresh, certainly above average dishes. the best being the ink pasta. While I’m probably not going to take a special trip just to this restaurant: if I lived or worked closer then I would absolutely eat here regularly. For now, I’ll just have to wait til I’m in the area to pop in.

Okay… after finally returning to Villa Capri last week, I’ll bump them up an additional star. They won me over! I ordered the Ravioli Caprese and literally cleaned my plate. The ricotta-stuffed ravioli were delicious in a light tomato sauce and I couldn’t stop eating. My date loved his Fusilli alla Campagnola, which is a corkscrew pasta sautéed with artichokes, zucchini, mushrooms, bell peppers, English peas, diced tomatoes, basil, garlic, and olive oil, as well. The complimentary bread was quickly devoured by us as well and I couldn’t decide if I liked the dipping sauce or the tomato sauce in my pasta dish better.
