I love these guys. They are always helpful and have a lot of the latest and greatest in video gear. They have completely reasonable rates on all their rentals. The staff is courteous and professional. Really one of the top locations in San Diego for professional level GRIP, Lights and Camera equipment.
If you are looking for tripods and other support gear they have a lot of high quality stuff that will last a long time. If you are the type that prefers to spend money on good quality gear this place has it.

Cool facility. Lots of gear at affordable prices. Rented a fluid head tripod for 2 days for only $ 40. Got a free water bottle and pack of M&Ms out of the deal too!

The crew at Video Gear is always great to work with. They know their stuff and can help you get the right gear you need for your shoot. Whether renting or buying, I feel like I’m getting a good deal and supporting a local business. Sure, you can probably save a few bucks going online but you don’t build a relationship with people who will be there to help when you’re in a pinch.
I can’t recommend Video Gear highly enough.

Video Gear is THE place to go for video production gear in San Diego. I’ve been shopping/​renting there for 7 years and have yet to be disappointed. Their staff is super friendly and their customer service goes way above and beyond what you sometimes experience in the production world — no jaded, disgruntled crew members here. If you have questions about gear or need ideas on how to light or shoot something, go in to the store and they will take the time to help you out.
Above everything else, Video Gear has been extremely active in the local filmmaking community ever since I moved to SD. If there’s something noteworthy going on in the SD filmmaking world, you’ll likely see them there supporting it.

These guys rock! I’ve been renting and purchasing since i moved here from ohio 4 years ago. I hope Jeff and Mike get paid well, cause they go above and beyond to help solve problems and provide value. Service is unbelievable. I go out of my way to buy from them instead of anywhere else because of it!

Awesome rental shop. The staff is friendly and always willing to show you how your equipment works. If you talk with them ahead of time you can work out your rental schedule to work with your availability, etc. Best shop to rent video equipment in San Diego, hands down.

Video Gear is a great place to rent video equipment. I’ve been renting from Martin since he set up shop in San Diego and I haven’t been to the other guys since. The equipment is clean, his rates are good, and you get a free bag of M&Ms with each rental. Centrally located too between the 805 and 5.
