Great location to our hotel. Food came hot and as ordered. Turkey croissant sandwich was very good! Staff very courteous. Would return if in area.

I give no stars. Im sorry but never have i ever had to choke down my meal. My husband and i are grateful people and dont like to waste food… i couldn’t finish neither could he but we sure tried. His soda was flat, the one they brought to refill when he hardly sipped was flat as well… my orange juice was just … unpleasant. The water was beyond tap water. I would think a restaurant would have filtered water :/. He ordered the valley combo. Pancakes were throat choking dry even when u drowned it with the syrup. Flimsy sausage patty tasted like it had been in the freezer for quite a while. Everything was so bland ! We tried to add stuff and even mix things up to try and create a better flavor. I ordered the cali veggie omelette. Veggies were moderately ok. Eggs tasted watery, i tried to add to it and … gagged :(i feel terrible for saying this but … im baffled. Not a nice family restaurant experience to end our weekend date. I was suggested to get the biscuit and gravy. Was told sausage chunks… ummm there wasnt. Maybe sausage oil? The biscuits were flat and again throat choking dry. The gravy… was probablly the worst part. Cold, thick and flour like. Now aside from food… ummm we witness a brown haired thinner but tall waitress grab the food from rhe arguing and un happy chefs, use her unwashed hands to moved the french toast over and add toppings. She forgot to do one and had to retrieve from a customer and do it yet again. The cooks were not happy at all. W multiple waitresses they messed up orders, a middle eastern woman and them argued and she then brought their words to our table how hes trying to blame her for a mistake.. Soooo yea the descriptions go on. We were so happy to grab a mint by the door to soak up any reminder taste in our mouths. I wouldnt recommend this place if u begged me … until ALLTHESTAFF were retrained and attitude adjustments… i forsee business suffering by the way we experienced things this day

Grilled cheese with Kraft American oozing out between burned sourdough bread. Mac and Cheese with bacon. Yuk. Understaffed. Our waitress was very nice, but alone. This works for any folks passing through San Diego, and it is very reasonably priced. Maybe this was just an off night.

I don’t really have a whole lot against this place but it wasn’t anything super special. I’m not a huge breakfast fan, so it can be hard to really impress me. I like breakfast standards with a twist, or breakfast standards done really well. Since we knew we were going to old town and then for dinner going to eat a huge meal we wanted to eat relatively light. I ordered eggs, bacon, toast, and some fruit. Bacon was good, but everything else was pretty standard. My mother ordered the same thing. Sadly she found a hair in her food. It happens sometimes no matter where you go. The waitress was very friendly about it and that meal was taken off of our bill. Our waitress was friendly and kept the coffee coming(yussss). Overall this is a great place to go if you are staying in the connected hotel and want to have a standard breakfast before you go out that day. I wouldn’t drive across town to come here, however. I did not have their lunch or dinner so I cannot speak to that.

OK so last night I had the best club sand which from this place while visiting a hotel near by. The sandwich was by far the best club I’ve had the bacon was perfect salty, crunchy a good compliment to the I assume hand sliced turkey and fresh crisp lettuce. My friends had the breakfast for dinner well through the night I couldn’t get their fluffy golden hot cakes out my mind with that healthy serving of bacon. All this to say I jumped out if bed and said I gotta go to Valley kitchen and my bff asked why what’s the rush I said I need the hot cakes I enjoyed my club but was so jealous of your hot cakes. We walked over and I was so satisfied. I honestly don’t need to eat anywhere else in San Diego because she had the burger it was to die for! Ok please give it a try its never crowded service us excellent and the prices are ideal for family. Enjoy!

This is one of my favorite spots; especially for lunch or dinner. If their breakfast had better deals I would have it there. The specials, in my opinion are a good deal, depending on what the plate is for the day. I really like the quality of food and coffee there. I recommend this place to those who like comfort food, like myself. Here in San Diego, there are very few places left like this anymore. There are too many modern restaurants these days that have gotten away from traditional American food choices and have come up with some strange selections that just don’t appeal to me.

Decent food and generous portions. A good place to go when you want something low key. Definitely better than Denny’s and very convenient if you’re staying in a nearby hotel. Also open on holidays which is how we ended up here. Service was also great.

MINUS1 star The hole place overwhelmingly smelt like burnt food. It was slow inside. That should of told me to turn around and run. Nope I was seated and after siting five minutes without being approached for at least drinks… I got up, an left. Don’t waste your time. Please let me know if this review was useful, funny or cool. Thank You so much

Nice food and pretty classic/old fashioned. We ordered a wedge salad which is very special. The service was very slow. We have to wait for 15min to be seated even though there were like 20 empty seats. But the waitresses were pretty friendly.

Food was great. Had Mac and cheese, French dip and fries. Not the best décor. Looks like the 70’s inside but the service was quick and friendly.

My breakfast at Valley Kitchen was clearly 5 stars today. Every detail of my experience personifies precisely what 5 stars is all about. Arrive at 8AM and am promptly seated in an extremely comfortable clean booth. We are offered coffee. The coffee is excellent, lightyears ahead of typical diner coffee. My friend and I decide to split their $ 8 corned beef hash breakfast. Waitress is so nice and makes sure we get our eggs precisely as requested. So we ordered a second set of eggs so we are both satisfied. The food was incredible. My eggs were 100% flawless, precisely what I like. My friend was equally satisfied. She gave us two biscuits with gravy. They were flawless. The corned beef hash and the hash browns were perfect. I eat in expensive restaurants around the globe and this breakfast was as good as it gets. We linger over our breakfast for an hour. We are constantly offered refills and told to enjoy ourselves. In fact — they continue to ask us if we would like to have some coffee to take with us. The damage? $ 16 and change plus tip. Clearly an exceptional value for a breakfast that was absolutely flawless. I had a fantastic experience here today. It was so good that I can’t wait to repeat it. If you want a world class leisurely breakfast with attentive staff then you will be so happy you chose Valley Kitchen. Thanks to the wonderful staff here. You got my day off to a wonderful start!

DECOR: VERY Old Fashioned. When you walk in, its like you took a time machine back to the 70s or something. It is definitely a place that can use a little updating. SERVICE: The service was okay. My friend and I were staying at a nearby hotel so we went in close to closing so the lady in the front told us we can only do takeout, which was fine. We were planning to do that anyway. The waiter who took our order was coridal, but not overly friendly and he didnt look too happy. Maybe he was tired at the end of the night? FOOD: NOTGOOD!!! I ordered the Fish and Chips and the Fish was SOOOOILY!!! I took my first bite and literally it squirted out oil and grease. I ended up only eating one filet. The fries looked like something that was taken out of a frozen bag. Also it came with a salad and the salad was lettuce and dressing. The meal was definitely not worh tthe $ 13 I paid for it. My friend got the chicken sandwich and she took a couple of bites and could not eat anymore. It was a waste of our money. Word of advice, go somewhere else and try not to wait til too late like we did when places are closed.

If you’re staying at the MV Resort, you need to walk here and say hello to BARBARA. She is the SWEETEST lady ever! She works nights so make sure you go for dinner. The food is typical café style with decent prices. Like the rest of the property, the service is EXCELLENT.

Café style food but with GREAT service. The staff has always been exceptional except for one grumpy lady that I never see anymore. Who cares, we all have bad days. My favorite dish– I try not to order it but when they come to the table I burst out with … Ill have a french dip sandwich on an onion roll put through the toaster twice and crinkle cut fries. Then they say twice? !, that may burn it… then i say oh yeah i forgot just once. I don’t know why i cant remember that. it is like a knee jerk reaction to say it that way. Hey at least I am not ordering off the menu. just a few modifications. It comes out great! There is one staff member that already knows my order. when i say ummm I will have… she says. oh the french dip? yes i know, I got it. in a very kind and smiley fashion. Good place for small ones that usually get up and run around. Ask to be seated to the right when you walk in. The benches squeeze those babies in there perfectly so they cant escape. Then you can actually enjoy your meal. If you are a little soft around the middle, I would not try to squish in there. It is a nice tight squeeze. But truly not uncomfortable!

Your typical American restaurant with a few Mexican dishes. We really didn’t have many choices in terms of restaurants since this was the closest to our hotel as we were patiently waiting for our room to open up. What you’ll notice upon walking in is how old-fashioned the restaurant is. Like 1970’s old-fashioned with wood paneling, booth seating, faux wood tables, and grimy carpeting. I personally felt the food was decent, yet a little salty(if you don’t mind). However, we were hungry, and there was little to complain about. I ordered a meatloaf dish for $ 9.99(on special) with a side of rice(substitute for mashed potatoes), steamed vegetables(no broccoli!), and a dinner roll. My wife ordered chicken tenders(which is an appetizer). Like I mentioned previously, the meatloaf was salty, but I blame it mostly on the brown sauce(surprisingly not ketchup). Otherwise, I was pretty satiated. What I liked most about Valley Kitchen was the outstanding service by the wait staff. Always kind, high spirited, and willing to please the customers. What stood out was that I asked for a quick refill of my Sprite, but the waitress asked if I wanted a to-go cup instead. Awesome service all-around.

Simple food done right. A diner with no frills. Good breakfast for only 7.99 but without long lines or any frou frou ness.

Another good breakfast spot if you need to «fill’er up» before getting your action packed day going. Perfect server — reminded me of the days of old, when people had pride in their profession. Yes, service is a profession. Our server was so gracious, and he reminded me of a fine butler. The food was just OK. The hashbrowns were actually overcooked, but my over easy egg was perfection. And I love when sourdough toast is an option. This restaurant is attached to the Mission Valley resort, and not only do they offer rooms service to the resort, but they manage to offer a daily breakfast special and a blue light special in the evenings for diners. It is good.
