I was thrilled to have a couple of United Club passes because of a United VISA credit card benefit, so while on a layover in San Diego, a colleague and I dropped in. We were pleasantly surprised that there are free drinks(beer, wine, liquor), as well as some complimentary snacks as well. When airport restaurants are ridiculously overpriced, some free food and drinks are quite welcome. The snack bar includes hummus, crackers, cheese, olives, and bell peppers. There is also vegetable soup available, iced tea, lemon water, and hot drink machines. It was nice to relax on some comfortable couches, use the free wifi, and plug my phone in without needing to compete with a hundred other passengers while sitting on an airport floor. I’m not sure if I would purchase entry to the United Club since I don’t fly toor regularly, but I am thrilled to use free passes when I receive them.

This is one of the nicest airline club sans any of those in middle east or southeast asia. The design is a very modern /urban /contemporary style that works well and is akin to California. The United reception personnel are especially curtious and welcoming. The long bar welcomes you to saddle up and order a drink; continue on and immediate to your left you can either join the breakfast dining area or continue on with a full wall of banked seating where you can crash and extend your legs. There is a glass wall partition that you can step through the glass door and find additional seating and network and power connectivity. All in all, great lounge and location to spend time waiting for your flight.

It’s a dramatic improvement over the old lounge. I get a couple of free passes to the United lounge annually with my credit card. Wish I could use them on overseas lounges but they generally don’t allow that so I opted to use them prior to boarding a long cross country flight. The free wine by the glass is decent… definitely not worth upgrading for an additional 7 or 9 bucks a glass? That seems crazy! The lounge actually had a veggie soup that wasn’t overly salted. That along with cheese, crackers, veggies and hummus, we got a decent lunch and didn’t need to waste our money on airline food. Overall, this was a good use of my free passes.

Very nice domestic club for such a small airport. The staff was friendly and accommodating and there were lots of outlets. Snack selection was limited but not unexpectedly for such a small club.

I like the comfort that the seats provided. But I was expecting for them to provide more than just crackers, cookies, yogurt and drinks. I was hoping for some sandwiches or more than the light snacks. I do appreciate the quality food(cheese, crackers. Granola, yogurt) and fresh fruit(i.e. Red and green apples, bananas) options that this lounge provides. They do provide wifi service, charging stations and office-like setup for travellers who wish to use their laptops or other electronic devices. It’s a more comfortable waiting area than the usual boarding gates. But I just hoped to get a better meal like some of the other lounges that I’ve been in in Asia and in Vancouver, Canada.

The surroundings are pretty and clean, but food options are lacking. They had: snack carrots, packaged Tillamook cheese slices, bananas, apples, cookies, snack mix, granola, tea, coffee, iced tea, some juice, house wine, house beers and Miller and Colors. House cabernet and house chardonnay.

Airport lounge shoot-out: Part 3⁄5 This is the third of five airport lounges that I visited recently over a two week period. This United Club at the SAN airport is up the escalator directly after the security checkpoint. I entered the lounge on a Tuesday about an hour before my noonish SAN-SFO flight. Pros: I thought the spaces were well kept and the bathrooms were pristine. Standard United Club WiFi with the password clearly posted, even at the bar where I was seated. All the usual suspects for food offerings(yogurt covered raisins, chex mix, carrots, cheese, crackers), plus some bagels and pastries. The space felt very open because of the layout. The barkeep was friendly and attentive. Cons: One Karl Strauss amber premium tap, sure that’s reasonable, but the other premium? Heineken. No that is not some cruel joke. San Diego, craft brew Mecca, and these jokers can’t find a decent local tap. How bout you just run a line from the Stone Brewery that is *literally* downstairs? Green Flash? Ballast Point? Give me a break. End of the day, a pretty average United Club but did not make a lasting impression on me. But yes, I’ll still be back.

Poor design layout with close tables results in lack of privacy and lots of talking by others. Tough to find a good and quiet area.

Not a bad club… clean and new and nicely set up with a bar area as well as lounge areas. You can also have a nice view of some of the gates if you enjoy watching planes. The staff was super nice and even asked if they could refill drinks though this wasn’t a consistent offer. Fun holiday cocktails around Christmas and decent snacks make this a fun spot to sit. Also, the counter employees were really friendly and helpful. More so than in many airports. Also a bonus — huge bathroom with plenty of room if you have to lug around a ton of luggage by yourself.

Very clean, bright and open. Lots of space to sit, watch the game and charge your cell phone. Staff is always WONDERFUL&FRIENDLY! Wish they had a family room so kids can let loose a little and watch cartoons; similar to the family room in the IAH Houston airport. Wish their espresso from the machine tasted better but, hey, the alternative is regular coffee so not bad.

Amazing staff working the front desk — treated me like family! The club is on the small side but it’s cozy. Not a large selection of food which was a bit of a bummer(basically only had bagels and yoghurt for breakfast) but all in all a relaxing place to wait for flights(:

To say I travel a lot for work is an understatement. I may not be as fancy as the guys in suits but I have my fair share of travel stories and shortcuts I have figured out over the years. Because of the ridiculous number of miles, I get a United Club membership compliments of my job(«hey! Here is the Club. Go sit and use the free wi-fi to work more hours while your flight is delayed!!») It could be worse, but its not so bad. The SFO United Club is fairly decent. Its clean, has snacks aplenty, and its fun to sit and watch the planes come and go. The staff there is friendly, although the occasional grumpus does rear his/her ugly head, but it is a comfortable space to work in while my flights are delayed. Har har. It can get crowded at times, especially when there is an international flight, but I can usually find a seat and other club users are pretty good about sharing outlets and arm space. Paying almost $ 500 a year to get a membership is painful, but it does provide a good, quiet space to get work done while hanging out at my home away from home.

Very nice for an American airlines lounge. Saw from other reviewers that loubge was recently updated. It is large, bright, clean and quiet. Food choices are typical coffee/tea, juices, cookies, crackers, tillamook cheeses, and some trail mix. US lounges can’t compare to any large Asian airlines lounge or even Turkish Air lounge in Istanbul, but this is pretty nice for domestic.

The last time I flew into San Diego International Airport was 5 – 6 years ago — and then it was called the«Red Carpet Club» and was located over in the old Terminal 1. The old location was small and run down. The new location is not huge, but it is new, modern, clean, and very nice! It’s located upstairs in Terminal 2 West, on the Mezzanine level above Sunset Cove between Gates 47 and 48. The United Club opens at 5:15 am PST — or at least it did the Friday morning I was flying back home to Dulles. So I waited for a few minutes for them to open up. Lots of clean places to sit, and lots of AC outlets to make sure everything is fully charged before hopping on your flight. I got in about an hour of work before heading to my Gate. The three ladies working the front desk were very nice, funny, and interactive. Great United Club location!

Probably one of the best that i have been to. its wide open, bright and inviting. Lots of places to plug in. Service was superfriendly and helpful. Front desk folks helped me avoid an epically bad day of travel. Format is nice and open with lots of lighting. one tip. there is a portion of the club that opens to a large atrium with a food court on the first floor. It is very noisy. I would not sit out there unless you had headphones. Great view, but lots of harsh noise. Sadly, I probably won’t be back as I don’t frequent San Diego that often.

Posh: marble, glass, leather seats, view, art, palm trees, sparkly chandelier, and nice bathrooms. Makes me feel special. The plugs(three count’em and two USB plugs) underneath the banquette seating at about three foot intervals. No fighting for electric. They even have signs to keep your feet offa the seats! Makes me want to get here early.

Going up an escalator as if from a sci-fi movie, I approached the member check desk. It was similar to an entrance of a lavish dance club in Las Vegas. As I entered I was confronted with a bar, it being in front gave the club character that the others don’t have. I was greeted again by the bartender, ready to serve spirits or wine. The self serve snack area was tucked against a side wall, which made it accessible from any section of the club. Working desks were located behind the bar and also on the balcony. The main section was sound proofed from the balcony with a glass wall. Also on the balcony, comfortable lounge seats with side tables and open to the airport await you. Also there are tables where one can indulge in the complimentary snacks, coffee and an automatic machine that will create a latte, cappuccino or espresso to your liking. Different items are spread out throughout the day, and breakfast is the best with most healthy options. The snack area was well maintained and squeaky clean. The whole club is located on a two-story platform with a designated elevator and escalators. From up above, the Bubble bar serves as people watching focal point. This club is the best I’ve been in, but it’s definitely not as grand in size as the San Francisco airport location. On this particular trip, I spent a few hours here and it was a thoroughly relaxing environment, and justifies the annual membership fee.

The BRANDNEW United Club is one of the shining jewels of the renovated Terminal 2 at the San Diego International Airport!!! Formerly the«Red Carpet Club», this place is now twice as large as the previous location in Terminal 1 and is stunningly state of the art with beautiful furnishings, lighting, views, meeting areas, bars, snacks, juices and soft drinks. Once you go through security screening, look to your right and take the escalator upstairs to the 2nd level. To your right is the Delta Club and on your left is the United Club. The reception and customer service area is directly to your left. There the agents will check you in and can assist you with any questions, changes, or problems with your flight. Once past reception is the bar that is fully stocked and staffed. You have enclosed glass areas that overlook Lindbergh Field. If you look directly down your are above the new restaurants and bars in the Terminal 2. Most of the seats in the lounge also have electrical outlets and data ports. There are several plasma screen televisions along with a fully stocked business center and blessed quiet areas. The restrooms are thankfully in the very back of the lounge so you no longer have to hear toilets flushing or getting a whiff of Montezuma’s revenge from cruise ship passengers who just spent the last week in the Mexican Rivera. This is seriously ONEIMPRESSIVEPLACE!!! Per UAL, here are some ground rules– ” *As a courtesy to other guests, we ask that your attire and conduct are consistent with a professional environment. *Solicitation is prohibited in all United Club locations. *Smoking cigarettes, pipes or cigars(including electronic products) is not permitted inside United Club locations. *Food may not be brought into United Club locations.(Complimentary light snacks are available in each club.) *Food, beverages and periodicals provided are for consumption and use in the club and may not be removed. *Airport luggage carts are not permitted inside United Club. * Service animals are welcome in United Club locations, provided local ordinances permit them. Quiet pets accompanying guests onboard the aircraft are also permitted, provided they remain in their carry-on kennels. *United will not be held responsible for personal articles lost in or stolen from any United Club location.“ Non-premium drinks and beer are complimentary. Please remember to tip the bartender, for goodness sake!!!
