I dropped in here for a workshop and was really impressed with the setup. It’s quite spacious and organized. I’ve been aware of the toy and lending library for years, but just never made it over here. Today I saw what I’d been missing!
During a lull in our workshop, we were introduced to Joy. Joy explained how the assistive technology lending program works. Basically you can borrow a device for 30 days. If no one has requested to borrow it and you still need it, you can arrange to borrow it a little longer. It can be extended longer if it still has not been requested. This is a fantastic program as assistive technology can be quite expensive. This allows you to try out a device before you buy it, or borrow one while yours is being repaired. This program is free. What a wonderful service they are providing!
They also loan out toys and software. You can borrow toys and software for children up to age 10. The fee is $ 20 a year. It just pays for their battery costs for the toys. It’s a great program. They have lots of fun toys for little ones, and the software is great if you have or work with special needs kids.
