Uberfood is simply amazing. I love coming home from my kids swim practice and knowing that I have a healthy, organic, real food, full meal already prepared that simply requires that I reheat! I have had many dishes, and all have been very tasty. But the absolute best thing is that my children like it! Kids are notoriously picky eaters and mine are no different. Uberfood is far from your standard kid fair. The dishes are filled with spices and flavor but my children devour it EVERYTIME. I cannot say enough about the quality and tastiness of the food. And as a busy working mom of three children, the time saving aspect makes me very happy. Order a dinner, try it! You will be hooked!

Uberfood is ubergood!!! This week was the second time I ordered Uberfood. I am in love with the food and the fact that it gets delivered to my doorstep. I wasn’t even home yesterday and they left it for me in a cooler I had placed on my porch. My husband and kids absolutely love the food. Whenever I try to cook this healthy they just sit there and complain. My daughter can’t wait to get into the bags and sample a little out of all the boxes. Today she took one of the sandwiches and salads to school with her. She was so excited. Yesterday for dinner we had miso glazed salmon, edamame fried rice, udon noodles with broccoli and roasted vegetables. DELICIOUS! The salmon was perfectly cooked which is hard to believe since I reheated it in the oven. Honestly it was moist, flaky and perfect. The whole dinner took me about 10 minutes to put on the table. I have enough left over to have lunch today. Now I am just hoping they will add on more delivery days!

Uberfood SD currently offers terrific catered corporate lunches. Why, then, am I so forlorn? Well, soon, they will be launching home catering, and I am sad indeed for my bank account. You see, uberfood has a tempting and tasty menu. And the ingredients are just dripping with integrity.(Or was that balsamic vinaigrette?)Their website explains«Our chefs source locally grown and organic ingredients whenever possible. The menu changes with the seasons, fisherman’s catch, or the baker’s whim.» Gen Furukawa is the creator of the uberfood concept — which I gather is «farm to workplace,» — as well as the brains behind the menu. He’s book smart for sure. And fortunately, two Ivy League degrees have not blunted his palate, which spent its formative years in the gastronomic nirvana that is New York City. All the dishes I have tried reflect expertly balanced flavors and textures. One veggie sandwich combines grilled portabella, roasted eggplant, bell pepper, balsamic onion, basil pesto and mixed greens on freshly baked focaccia. My dining companion tried a croissandwich of curried Jidori chicken, green apples, organic spring mix, and sage pesto. There may also have been gobbling of the Tuscan tuna and white bean sandwich, but I will not divulge which one of us ate gluttonously. The salads and desserts were all scrumptious and winsome. A lovely feast made with high quality ingredients. I put in so many hours shopping and trying to cook food tat home that tastes like this. So when uberfood SD starts home delivery, I will be very tempted to lay down my spatula and call it in – call in my order that is.

Their scout team somehow tracked down our small business that makes its home a good ways from La Jolla and set us up with some free samples a few days later. So whatever caveats need apply given that set up, apply them. I tasted two sandwiches, a turkey-bacon number and a tuna and white bean salad sandwich. Both were very tasty. The former put to shame your standard bar food style turkey club. The turkey was thick cut and yet not at all dry. The bacon was, rather than overwhelming, a nice complement that when combined with the rosemary ciabatta made for a well balanced sandwich. Legitimately one of the best I’ve had. The tuna wasn’t quite up to those lofty standards, but the care in the craft remained evident. Both sandwiches came with a dang good side salad: quinoa, thai basil(?) and dried cherries. New to me as a concept and again well executed. I also managed to make off with one of the salads we were provided, as they offered up a veritable crapload of tryables for our relatively small office. I was going to have at least some of it but my gf scarfed it. Her thoughts: «It was barley, mixed greens(allegedly containing kale), a creamy balsamic vinaigrette and a hole where the chicken my boyfriend ate used to be. It was simple, yet effective. The barley was a nice, unexpected textural contrast. The vinaigrette was well conceived, a nice balance of tangy and sweet.» The chicken is noteworthy because we also happened to have Karl Strauss for lunch and I had a mixed green salad with chicken to compare it to. The Uberfoods chicken destroys the Karl Strauss effort. If all you’d ever had was Karl Strauss, you’d be surprised human beings could make chicken taste that good. Oh and apparently they’re cheaper than Strauss. In sum: if they’re in your price range, check it out. Legit stuff.
