It doesn’t get better than this. The view is incredible! The drinks are a bit pricey but what do you expect?! Tip: take a pic and post it with #topofhyatt and get access to an exclusive secret menu.

Top of the Hyatt has great views, probably decent bartenders, and a fast elevator to the top. That’s the good. However, their staff is trained so poorly, the blame has to go to management. We wanted to sit a a table that had no chairs. They had been moved to another table earlier, as no one was using them. Despite the staff seeing me move the heavy chairs, they offered no help, and in fact cut me off when they walked by me. I never once saw a staff member let a customer have the right of way, constantly cutting in front. Two stars for location and a mediocre wine list, minus 3 stars for poor service, and a somewhat negative feeling I got towards their treatment of guests.

1. The views are astounding: heaven abounds below. 2. Food is sufficiently tasty, if not priced well enough for what it is 3. Décor is a disaster! Looks like a copy of a Miami lounge circa 2005. Was this really the best the designers could do? Their imagination didn’t extend beyond every douche bar in Gas Lamp? Are they trying to attract tasteless people? 4. Very bad omen for future Manchester controlled developments

I really think this place is overrated. The view is amazing. But on each of the 4 times I have come, the drinks were awful and overpriced. Generally, I have my drink, watch the sunset, and then quickly leave to go to a better bar.

If you are willing to pay for that view, this is your bar. At a hefty $ 17 – 18 for a cocktail, enjoy the highest public view(40th floor) of San Diego without a membership. Drinks are well made. I got to try the berry gimlet and life’s a beach. The berry gimlet was very good and tarty. The life’s a beach however tasted bland… Couldn’t quite taste the pineapple, but definitely the bitterness of alcohol. Could be a good thing right? At least they make strong drinks. We ordered some food items too, the Kobe burger, flat bread, hummus and fries. Pretty good except the flat bread, could have used more toppings and creativeness. Service was pretty good. She handled our large party very well. At times it was slow, but she was courteous about it.

Still being a newbie to San Diego, it was deff a must experience to come up to Top of the Hyatt. The hotel alone is magnificent, so when I went to the 40th floor(I think that’s it?) I was in awe. PROS: Gorgeous views, no crazy or trashy people, yummy drinks, clean and pretty layout, attentive waiter, can bring anyone here and have a nice night. CONS: it’s super expensive and they may not have enough tables or seats at times. My boyfriend and his family took me here and I already want to come back and show my friends and family this place.

I haven’t been here in years but I visited after their renovation and it has improved. Same gorgeous view of the city but better décor. The service is consistent and the drinks are good. A chill place to have a cocktail.

Loved it! I came here to watch the sunset and grab a drink. The service was amazing and the drinks are awesome! Needless to say, the view was phenomenal. I would recommend to anyone. Whether you want to come here for a girls night, or a romantic date, it’s perfect.

Very pretty views. Likely a must go if you are in the area or staying at the hotel. Went on a Friday night, was super packed, was a bummer that there was no where to sit. Had to stand in the corner and pray a table opened up(I hate that!) Decent mix of very fancy dressed up people and casual.

They renovated this past year and it is super disappointing to see the changes. I have been going here for decades and the ambience is different, no longer a welcoming warm lounge feel, but more commercialized and modern. Even the free snacks/nut mix you would get was decreased by ½ the size and now costs $ 4.00. What a shame they changed it so much and overly charge for things. Drinks was always pricey, but it was worth it to be in a comfortable spot and look at the amazing views from Tijuana to Coronado and into downtown and beyond. While I’ll still bring guests to see the view, we’ll leave quickly and have drinks and snacks elsewhere. I understand they wanted a change, but why so commercial and charging people an outrageous amount for nuts.

After showing a few spots around SD; brought my fiancée’ and her sorority sister to check this place out. It’s my 2nd time here and it’s been awhile. From what i remember it was a dark low light ambiance lounge but now it’s more of a club feel type lounge with blue light but still the same amazing view. It was not that busy when we arrived but 15mins later it was a packed house(most likely from the convention meetings that people were attending) This place get loud and kinda hard to chat if you’re just coming to lounge. Like I mentioned you get that club feel. They only had one waitress taking table orders and if you are tired of waiting you would have to squeeze your way to the bar on a busy night. We only came here for a glass of wine to enjoy the view and thanks Unilocal check-in we were able to get a bottle of wine for $ 19.92 Overall: A-Ok. Cool view, nice menu that offered tasty food, cocktails, wine bottles, and craft beer on tap. But when it’s busy; it gets really loud and difficult to talks amongst your colleagues.

In town for a conference? Have visitors in town? Just like to enjoy a great view? This spot is one of my favorites in town for a sunset and it’s right by the convention center. Head into the hotel and turn left, then turn right at the lobby bar and take the elevator to the 40th floor. Grab any open seat and enjoy! I’ve had the $ 20 bottle of wine and think the Cabernet Sauvignon is not amazing, but the best of the bunch. Churros are superb, and although the plate is small, they’re one of the best I’ve had. Last trick? After leaving the elevator turn in both directions and snap a photo of the view from each side.

If you’re staying at the Hyatt, I think you’d be silly not to stop in to watch the sunset. Get in early, however, because it is a popular spot and it fills up. Yes, it’s a bit pricey, but you’re paying a premium for the view. Service was excellent. Note that this is not an open air bar or terrace; it’s completely enclosed by glass. Also, contrary to what one Unilocaler reported, the bar area does not provide a 360 degree view. The bar is built on the bay(western) side of the tower, so you can get excellent seating to watch the sunset. But there is no comparable view back to the mainland and city.

It is impossible to not like this place. We stayed in the hotel for the first time so we had to go to the top and try the lounge. The views are amazing at any time of day. We went up to get a before dinner drink and some snacks. The prices are very trendy but, I guess you have to expect that when you consider where you are. I’ll bet most of the people are here are on expenses and don’t have too much to worry about prices when they order. We tried to ignore the prices and just go ahead and enjoy. The service was very good and the drinks were a generous pour. So we were vey happy. Wish we could go back soon.

Cool place. It is on the 40th floor with limited seating. This is not an open air bar but you can see the city lights. Way overpriced, a cheese and crackers board is 18.00 and almost like a high end lunchable but not as fresh. They get three stars because the waitress that was working the croud worked hard and leaned in close so we didn’t have to yell over the noise.

Five stars all the way without a doubt! I absolutely love this place definitely my go to to start an evening out or end an evening out with friends. Plenty of friendly staff on hand to order the best tasting appetizers and delicious drinks not to mention the most spectacular views San Diego has to offer. There’s never a bad time to come here to enjoy time with friends and family. The incredible views are free along with the elevator ride up to the 40th floor so grab that special someone or a group of friends and head over and take it all in.

How can you stay at the Hyatt Manchester and not visit Top of the Hyatt? I see that some people have complained that they don’t like the makeover. Having not seen the old Top of the Hyatt, I can’t criticize. But I found the modern, airy look quite pleasant. We took a quick look around one afternoon when the bar opened at 3:00PM.(The elevator does not run to the 40th floor until then.) Even though we didn’t order drinks, we were glad we came during the daylight. Great views! We came back late on Thanksgiving evening for a view of the city lights. While there are a few interesting food options, we were still full from our Thanksgiving meal. We settled for just drinks. A well drink for DH and a glass of Malbec for me. Not cheap, but worth the experience.

The view from here is excellent. Drinks are good and the pricing is fine. It has amazing potential the food choices were just so so and even the quality was so so. It still is place you should stop at take a break and enjoy the view.
