Don’t waste your time. They were apparently closed but didn’t feel the need to lock the door or make the place look closed. Meanwhile, one of the workers is on her phone in a massage chair and then was rude with me.
Don’t bother!

I come here to get my pedicures by Linda. She is the only lady that knows how to shape my toe nails right!!! Her massage is amazing! It’s not like those half-​ass rubs that some ladies give.
I use to get my hair done by Denise. She’s awesome. When she cuts and trims my hair, she keeps the length. You don’t know many people that actually does that

Wow! Great price for great service and amazing hair cuts! First time here I only paid 30 for a hair cut she did exactly what I asked, Lynn is very talentes, she is a perfectionist and only gives you the best. I recommend you come try this place!

I followed my stylist Rose here from her old location at the 805. Tonic is better situated for me since it’s close to the 15. Rose has been cutting my hair for 12 years. She always does a great job and takes the time to get it right. Her prices are great considering she shampoos your hair and styles it once done with the cut. I’ve referred a few of my friends in the area and they’ve had good experiences.

No matter who I have gotten a haircut from here, it has never been bad. Some stylists are slightly better than others, but you’ll never have to worry about getting a bad cut if you come here!
Just a note, the last lady who dyed my hair dyed it a color that did not turn out how it was supposed to. I came in 4 days later to get it redone, and they didn’t charge me! So if you are unsatisfied with something they will help you out.

Only 2 stars because I only recommend chuck. He’s great when it comes to haircuts and he even kept my length. How many hair cutters do u know that will actually listen to you when you say «keep my length» ?! But do not I repeat do not go to him for color or lightening. Strictly haircuts. His color job is not up to par.

Lori is exceptional. She listens then offers professional advice that bring desires into alignment with reality. I’ve never had a better haircut!

I love going to Lynn because she takes her time when she cuts my hair. I can tell she’s a perfectionist & I love that :)

I have been going here several years and have been happy with my haircuts/​highlighting and waxing. Lori was my stylist and always did a great job, was sociable, gave practical tips for your hair and never annoyed you with trying to overly upsell products or services. (Mainly why I left my last place it was getting ridiculous) Small salon but always clean, prices are decent as well. I have not had my hair cut by the owner or guy who works inside, but I have had my eyebrows waxed by each of them once. Just once, only because Lori was not there that day. The guy accidentally made an awkward bald patch on one eyebrow and the owner did an Ok job but it was the most painful waxing I’ve ever experienced and my forehead was red and puffy the entire day.
If you need a stylist, I suggest Lori.

About 3 years ago I started going here for a haircut. I did a walk in with a friend since she recommended me to try it. I have been going to this place since then when I can.
Like other places, they have their up and downs. I’ve gotten one haircut here once which I was unpleased with. It didn’t look good and it was too short now to fix. This was before I got Lori as my stylist.
Now I always make an appointment with Lori when I want a cut. She knows exactly what type of style would go well with my face and does all the requests I wish. If a request is made in which she believes would not go well with the cut just yet, she would say to wait till later. She is very nice and can make a really quick cut look good.
The only downer in my opinion is that it is a bit pricey. I only go in for a simple haircut but is charged $ 25. There are many other salons that a lot less than this but in my opinion, does an ok job with their cuts. Even if it’s pricey, I would rather go to Lori and get a good haircut that I am satisfied with, than get a cheaper one that’s not as good.

Vi did a $ 65 haircut for $ 30. Shampoo, cut, style, and very politely offered styling advice included, since I admitted I am a hopeless tomboy. I wish I lived here, I would be a regular!

Got my hair cut by Don couple weeks ago. Got in straight after work with no appointment. I was pretty vague with my instructions, just told him to keep the length basically. I went there intending to just get a trim but came out styling a sweet new haircut that completely changed my image.
Been getting compliments left and right! It’s funny though, I saw this girl come out of the salon before me, and I ended up with the same cut as her! I guess he sticks to the style he knows best LOL.

It’s hard to rate the salon when it’s the stylist that determine whether or not the experience [and haircut] are enjoyable. That said, I guess this review will simply be for Jamie, MY stylist.
I was originally recommended to her from a co-​worker. Prior to that, I had been bouncing around until I found something that worked. Anyhow, overall Jamie is great and I’ve been seeing her for over a year now.
Simply put, the prices are cheap/​reasonable, and she knows how to work my hair. I give her the gist of what I want, and she proceeds to make it even better! Every time I come in, unless I specify something different, she automatically knows what to do. I think she pampers me because I ask to wash my hair twice =).
I believe she charges $ 17 for a guys’ hair. Reasonable enough. If anyone needs a stylist and has not yet been to Tonic, I would recommend setting up an appointment with Jamie.

Unilocal is a community of people who gives out reviews based on their personal experience and this is why I love Unilocaling. It’s made up of real people who gives out wonderful reviews on a business so others can also get to experience the good and avoid the bad when it comes to spending their own hard working money at a certain place. But why does Tonic make me feel like I been strip of my rights because I found a wonderful yet professional stylist by the review of not one but many Unilocalers on here. I didn’t come to give Tonic a try but I went there to give the stylist a try (we all know how hard it is to find a great stylist). When it comes to my hair I am very precise about what I want and for a moment I was so ecstatic that this place is so close to home it works perfectly with my hectic schedule. I’m not sure how great the other stylist at Tonic are but I’m not here to judge them because I am also in the beauty industry and I’m pretty sure they’re all talented in their own ways. But if they do not understand how Unilocal runs then they should be removed from being rated at all.
The story to this review is that they let go of a stylist because she was getting allot of customers based on the reviews written by individuals about how they recommended her because she does such a amazing job on their hair. Yet the person feels that this stylist is taking clients away from them? FYI Tonic, we have the rights to choose whoever we want to go to and how we want to spend our money. This is senseless and so unprofessional and now they want to press charges on some one who has no control over people giving her great compliments on Unilocal because she did a amazing job on our hair and gave us her 100%. We didn’t choose to come to Tonic we came to the stylist who worked her magic and made us look great. I wish her all the best and she deserves to be at a new place where she’s appreciated for her wonderful job.
Please feel free to leave any comments I feel that this is unfair and Tonic went way over their head with not understanding what reviews are all about.

I’m a loyal customer — and Amy no longer works at Tonic. But I’ll always refer her to anyone who is looking for an awesome hairstylist who listens and knows her stuff!
I’m glad that she is now at a location where she is appreciated.

If i had to rate THE SALON ITSELF, they would get 2 STARS from me. The stylists that were not very welcoming drops the rating to 1 STAR.
The hair products for sale selection is very low. The salon atmosphere is okay. It is very plain. The magazines are mainly all old tabloids that have been used many times. The hard plastic of the shampoo rinse station is not very comfortable & hurts your neck (although it is manageable with a towel under).
There were three ladies working that day. The one I had an appt with was busy working on someone’s hair while the other two ladies saw me, but didnt bother to ask what I wanted or even say anything for that matter, which I thought was odd because I’d expect to be greeted or SOMETHING when I walk into a salon.
So I just sat down. For about three minutes I sat there & waited for someone to say something when finally the stylist I had an appt. with asked me if I was the one who set up an appt. with her. SHE MADE MY EXPERIENCE WORTH 5 STARS at Tonic, which was why I gave them the rating I did previously.
ITS NOT THE SALON ITSELF THAT MAKES A PLACE GOOD OR BAD, ITS THE PEOPLE WHO WORK IN IT. Same goes for restaurants. I dont care if your place looks beautiful. if your service is crap, i won’t be coming back.
But anyways, I researched for a few weeks to find a decent stylist, & word of mouth brought me to her. I got an amazing haircut & color & decided to Unilocal about it on this website to share my experience with others. After all, this is what Unilocal is for. But because of this, & other good reviews for the stylist I have chosen, Tonic has pressed charges.
It is very unreasonable that a stylist that I HAVE CHOSEN and ON MY OWN WILL wrote a nice review about will have charges pressed against her.
Because of this incident, I don’t really want to write reviews anymore. I am very saddened to think that in this day & age, getting good unsolicited reviews on a ratings website will get you sued…

If you want a reliable stylist and someone that can completely trust your hair with, you should ask for Lori. Ever since i got my haircut there by Lori i have always been satisfied everytime. Shes a really experienced stylist and shes really good with what you ask for. its like whatever you ask, thats what your going to get. NO DOUBT.
i’ve been salon hopping since 5^th grade, i HAVE NEVER been sooo satisfied. every stylist i been, lacks with comprehending what i want which frustrates me because they would mess up my hair. AND MY HAIR means a lot ot me, i mean to EVERY GIRL. sooo wrapping it up Tonic is a great salon and i would recommend LORI.

I booked an appointment with Amy based on the reviews on this site. She did a really great job! I think I just may have found my new hair dresser in San Diego. The prices are really amazing, so that’s less risk than going to a really high end place if you’re skeptical of branching out from your regular hair stylist.
If you are a little weary of a new haircut, book with Amy and she’ll put you at ease. She keeps you informed through the whole process, so you know what’s going on at all times, which is nice just in case you don’t agree with something, which is a nice option if you’re apprehensive about someone new. All in all, she did a great job and I’m really happy with my hair.
Oh also, she wanted me to pay with cash/​check, so make sure you bring one or the other to pay.

*Update: Amy no longer works at Tonic sadly, she has moved to «a salon paul mitchell» I have yet to see her there, so I’m afraid I cannot say much else about it.

I always try new hair stylists because of bad experiences, I would’ve never thought about going short, until Amy worked her magic. She understands what you want and adds an extra spunk to it, and tells you if it’ll look right on you. Sweeeeet lady! And very affordable! :)
I go to her and have no idea what I want to do with my hair, and I let her do what she do. =] I will soon get some color in my hair, and I’ll let you guys know how it goes. I bet you it’ll be guhhhhreat.
