I can’t stand the fishy smell of Asian markets! They have a lot of Asian childhood memory items and snacks that I remember my parents buying for me as a child. My stars were because the supermarket didn’t look as clean as I remembered.

Not my first choice for Asian markets. It is fairly clean, but this place doesn’t smell very good. The likely source is their seafood department. They do have a nice variety of seafood though. The smell did seem to improve after they switched from being Vien Dong to Thuan Phat. I don’t do all my shopping here just for the harder to find items like certain spices, seasoning, seafood, teas, fruits, Asian snacks, and so forth. I’ll also come here to get hard to find veggies like watercress. Prices for some items seem to be better compared to 99 Ranch. Customer service isn’t always the greatest here. Parking is usually plentiful except on Thursday afternoons when they have a farmer’s market in the parking lot at this shopping center. Overall, this place is okay.

I like(d) this place, but after a simple exchange of words with the white security guard, I’m not so sure. I’ve been here plenty and like the cheap fruits and vegetables, as well as the yummy snacks. I made the mistake of going on a Sunday afternoon. As I was browsing I needed a hand shopping cart(one of the small ones). As I went to grab one, it was stuck and I was having major difficulty. Instead of helping me, I hear the security guard in the most demeaning and condescending way possible, «Really man? Come on…» I was shocked he said that. After struggling he handed me a hand cart. I was offended and upset that he said that. I don’t care if you’re the security guard or a cashier, you don’t speak that way to your customers. How did I retaliate? Well besides being upset, I didn’t purchase anything. Why would I give you my business if that’s how you’re gonna speak to me? That guard is a low life piece of white trash. Not sure if I’ll come back.

Love this place! Great produce section with low prices! I am so happy to find this place 6 minutes from my house!

Like Unilocal says for 3 stars, A-OK! I don’t buy a lot of my groceries here but often they have some great deals on beer! Most recently I was disappointed when I bought a large bottle of Peanut Oil a couple weeks ago. I decided to get the large bottle for $ 9.99. Super bummed when I got home and saw in fine print the ingredients«soybean oil, sesame oil, peanut oil». Ugh. :(

Bummer they don’t allow my brompton bike shopping cart. Their policy about Back packs. Ohh well shopping 99 ranch, zion, trader Joes, ralphs in fact all retail loves the brompton shopping cart feature because i use no bag. Saved them money. Not shopping here again.

Awesome supermarket. I come here all the time and buy soy pudding, produce, candy and snacks, as well as fresh bakery items and seafood. They have a really good selection of mochi, and affordable rice. The staff is very nice and I love the music they play.

I get all my veggies here and love the prices for it! But I bought and cooked their«New York Steak» and it was horribly inedible. Very rubbery and the fat on it was tough. So just be weary of their meats. Another time I bought crab legs and half them smelled like bleach! After googling, found out it is from not cooking it in time before they freezed it and the bad crab legs give off an ammonia smell. So with that, not sure if it was the fisherman’s fault or the grocery store. Management was really nice about it and reimbursed me. So just a heads up when buying crab legs. Overall I use this place as my regular grocery store for veggies, but if I’m entertaining guests, I buy my meat elsewhere just in case.

Great place to buy lobsters! Better than your local grocery store. This has everything you need in an Asian market. I even found our famous Mr. Brown coffee I use to get back home. Looking forward to living in the neighborhood.

I’m in love with this place! The prices are fantastic. They have an absolutely incredible selection of fresh fish and seafood. I love that the majority of produce is grown in California. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because if you are looking something specific it can be difficult to find because the have so many products.

I love this place! This is my favorite Asian grocery store because it has EVERYTHING I would ever need to cook. It has a great fish/meat selection. It has awesome freshly baked/made desserts and breads. The variety of dried mushrooms and Asian snacks is great. It even has all the American foods I would want, like brand name canned soups. This supermarket has a great area for vegetables and fruits. Sure, there are some fruit flies flying around but it is the summer and it’s kind of impossible to keep them out of a produce filled area entirely anyway.

It smelled horrible in there tonight. It has never been this bad. My cashier didn’t make eye contact, barely even managed a hello because she was talking to the bagger the entire time. Cool bro.

Not an enjoyable shopping experience. The price labels on the shelves are faded and yellow. The shelves are poorly stocked and disorganized. Parts of the store seem neglected like no one ever goes to check or restock it(eg. Ice cream freezer) — the containers are completely iced over like they have been sitting there for 6 months untouched, half the freezer was empty, items were upside down. Similar types of items are scattered in different areas of the store haphazardly. Shelves are completely barren in other areas. I’ve popped in here maybe a half dozen times and it is consistently as I described it above. I rarely buy anything here as the shelf life seems suspect. I would only buy something here if it was an emergency or if they were the only ones that carried the item. You’ll do much better at 99 Ranch or Zion(Convoy area) when it comes to Asian market shopping.

Here are some of the things I love about this place: 1. They have three different types of coconuts, all for a great price: Young Coconuts White/Water Coconuts Mature Coconuts 2. The parking lot and the store are not crowded like some of the markets up the street(Ranch 99, Zion, Mitsuwa). 3. There’s no funky smell like Ranch 99. 4. The people that work there have always been super friendly to me, which is definitely NOT true of Ranch 99. 5. I don’t feel like i have to go to multiple stores to get what I need, they really seem to have a little bit from most Asian countries at this store; they even have items that you’d normally only find in a Latin American Market. This is definitely my new favorite market :)

We just moved here from San Jose, so our house needed our staple of Asian grocery items. My husband went to Ranch 99 and couldn’t find anything we needed or were used to. I then went to get my nails done, and the nail ladies told me about Thuan Phat, since we couldn’t find any fatty brisket for our home made phở. Husband went to Thuan Phat and was able to find all the Vietnamese brands we’re used to, and all the cuts of meat we need. Thuan Phat will be our go-to VN market until we can find another.

This isn’t my first choice for an Asian market… but it’s the closest to my house and a great alternative to driving to Clairemont or Mira Mesa. The store is clean and spacious… you can find most Asian essentials… along with cheap produce… and parking is easy peasy! Not like Ranch 99, Seafood City or H Mart! They also offer free fish frying daily until 7pm! Usually takes around 10 min.

Great Asian market! Their vegetables are very fresh and a great price. Whether it is Thai, Viet, or Chinese food you want to cook, you will find all your ingredients. I recommend parking near Linda vista because of the wayward shopping carts and occasional patron who has trouble judging distance. I watched a person today drive right through a stationary shopping cart! Grab your bitter melon, Thai chili peppers, beef meat balls and phở sachet. This is my go-to Asian market!

This is my go to place for dungeness crab. The price is pretty dang good during peak season. When I am at my most creative, I also shop here for beef tendon and bones w/marrow for soups that I make or pig skin which I use to make fresh crispy chicharon. You need weird food? You can find it here and decide whether or not you want to try something out. I know that the more popular choice would be to go to 99 Ranch. But, I just can’t deal with the tiny/crappy/ridiculous parking lot, which isn’t a problem at Thuan Phat.
