This is my new favorite place! April was so friendly and actually cooked everything we brought home. Best bran muffin EVER! Spinach patty, meatball and Brussels sprouts were awesome too. Thank you!

Sad to say I’m really not crazy about this place at all. The spot itself is very cute, but the food is inconsistent and some of it just isn’t good. I’ve ordered the same sandwich a few different times and every time it’s different: sometime toasted, sometimes not, sometimes greens on the sandwich, sometimes just meat and cheese. I ordered the spaghetti squash once and it was very bland, no seasoning at all. Salt goes a long long way it’s the simplest thing… and maybe some herbs? Or Anything? None of that, however, compares to the terrible service. The majority of their menu is sandwiches and salads and pre-made items that just need to be heated and yet I can not get in and out of this restaurant within an hour. Seriously, I’ve been there for over an hour just to have a sandwich and salad and it’s not like it’s ever busy… there are never more than 2 other parties there. If I want take-away I need to give them a half hour at least. The people who work there don’t seem to communicate very well either, not with the customers(they don’t greet you or talk to you at all unless you initiate) or each other(judging by the inconsistency of the food). It’s too bad because some of the sandwiches are very good, but I don’t think I’ll go back.

I not only suggest eating here but I bring home food for the week. Friendly, clean atmosphere. Great spot.

Not sure what to say on this one. Walked in at 5:30pm on a Thursday. There was no one in the restaurant(including employees). I waited about 5 minutes, and left. ?

It’s great to find a place in the Village of La Jolla with healthy AND tasty menu choices. My beet and goat cheese salad with candied pecans on a bed of arugula was excellent. Items are prepared to order. They focus on food quality so not a fast food joint. They were busy for lunch today and food was delivered within a reasonable time. Comfortable atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating.

I have had to of the most delicious meals at this restaurant. It is primarily healthy but delicious foods! The macaroni and cheese is to die for, as are their salads! The price is reasonable, and you can sit outside with you dog.

I absolutely LOVE this place!!! Their food is all prepared in house using fresh and healthy ingredients(their salmon is AMAZING and they don’t use butter!) i never have that guilty feeling after eating here, instead I have more energy, it’s crazy! In the beginning I’ll admit that the service could use some work but they’ve since rehired a whole new staff and I’m amazed at the difference!

I was driving by with the bf and decided to stop in for something healthy and fresh. I noted immediately that several tables still had dirty dishes on them which limited the seating options. Once we ordered we waited approximately 15 mins for our sandwiches which were ok. My bf did not like his sandwich because it had balsamic dressing in the tuna melt sandwich which was not listed on the menu. I had to get up to get my refill of iced tea that I had asked for and I was frequently bothered that those same dirty tables have not been cleaned since we arrived. WTH??? Also, the customers who came in after us had to sit in dirty tables and take away the dirty dishes themselves! Another issue noted was that the water canisters were both empty and have not been filled the whole time we were there when even one of the employees had to tilt it herself to get water out. I would definitely not be back!

I was initially skeptical of this place, but kept hearing that they had amazing gluten free brownies. I went in to check it out and in hopes of scoring a few brownies to bring home to my family. I received no greeting, and stood there waiting to be helped for 10 minutes. I had made eye contact with the woman working multiple times but she was very into helping explain the menu to the customer who got there before me. Then, a couple walked in, after I had been patiently waiting. The woman immediately approached the couple and proceeded to help them. The food at The Village Greens looks less than appetizing, and the service is no good. If you want fast farm to table food and good service, stick to Tender Greens.

Our lunch was catered by The Village Greens and NOONESPOKE during the lunch break because everyone was so immersed in their food. The Seattle folk were going crazy for the salmon(that’s saying a lot!) and every single thing that was served was INCREDIBLE, down to the perfect chocolate macaroons. I am so impressed. I only wish I lived in San Diego so I can go to the restaurant but I’ll have to tell all my friends who live down there to check it out!

I have given this place a number of tries. The food is very tasty and fresh, but the management and customer service needs HELP! The items listed on the menu never seem to come out as described. So if you are craving that Swiss cheese on your sandwich you might not get it, unless of course you ask them to eliminate the cheese from your order and then it will most likely still be there. There always seems to be a long wait for food even if it was called in 15 minutes prior to picking it up. I only hope that the management actually reads these Unilocal reviews and tries to make some changes… I have tried to speak with them about some of these issues but they didn’t seem to want to listen.

I enjoyed a very nice breakfast here on a early Sunday Morning. You could call it brunch, but the way I eat, I call it my early breakfast before brunch. I ordered a Café au lait, in fact I had two of them because they were so good, and the opened faced breakfast know as the Avocado & Asparagus Toast for $ 9.75. The breakfast came with homemade whole grain bread topped with fresh avocado, grilled asparagus, maple bacon, and two farm fresh eggs prepared to your liking. I had the eggs scrambled. The breakfast was keen, with it very well prepared fluffy well seasoned eggs, very well grilled al dente asparagus, and perfectly rip avocado slices. The whole grain toast was quite good, with a light but noticeable earthy whole wheat flavor. It was moist and lightly buttered. The maple bacon was very good and crispy, but perhaps a little over done in certain areas. I was impressed with the overall preparation of this part of the meal, especially the fluffy scrambled eggs. The potatoes were well cooked and tender to the fork, but they needed something more via the seasoning. Not just salt, but perhaps some herbs or a touch of paprika or chili powder. Don’t get me wrong, I liked the potatoes, but they needed a little something to perk them up. I really enjoyed the Café au lait. The young lady who made it did a great job, because it had the strength it needed and robust flavor, yet was smooth and mildly creamy from the hot milk added at the last moment. Well done. In addition to the nice breakfast and lunch items, they also provide a salad counter with daily fresh salads, eat on the spot or to take to go, and they also make a variety of baked goods.

I am so sad to say that I(we) have given this place a few chances at getting it right. Myself, my co-works and some of our clients have been in the new place. New means they have been open for 3 months(I believe) Long enough to have ironed out the menu. Menu items are not prepared as described on the menu. The wait will be 25+ minutes for food and your order may not be correct. They still seem disorganized and lost. I would love for this place to succeed, but The gal in there most of the time is not open to conversation, criticism, or constructive input. I hope it turns around. The food is pretty good. I hope they learn something.

Fantastic little café with thoughtfully prepared menu. Fresh ingredients and great deli sides. My new weekly lunch spot. Great addition to the La Jolla line up.

Open for breakfast, lunch, and late afternoon to allow those who like good food without the prep to pickup takeaway chicken, salads, vegetables and more. Food is tasty; serving size generous. Downside is the noise level. Impossible to hold a normal volume conversation during late lunch(1PM) with only half the tables occupied. Service willing but not terribly well trained. Fix those two things and it becomes one of my favorite lunch place.

Stopped by to try this cute little new place. No greeting or any direction on seating. We went to the counter to ask one of the 3 employees standing there where we should sit. They brought the menu and pointed us to a self serve water station. Weird. It was noon and we went for breakfast in which they only served to 11 Even though we were handed breakfast menus again without a word. Read the menu and had to wave the waitress over so we could order. We were then told no breakfast after 11. Communication and warmth is missing in this place. With The Cottage, Museum café and French Gourmet as their competitors with warm, welcoming friendly service we wish this new eatery the best.

This place is top notch! The food is fresh, healthy and inspired. It’s like really great standards with a creative, fresh flair. Excellent fresh salads, incredible sandwiches, roasted veggies, roasted chicken and these wonderful flatbreads – a highly recommended comfort food. To finish there is a beautiful selection of teas and espresso drinks with some sweet bites. The beauty of this place is that there is perfect balance on the menu – not too many selections nor too few, the price range is affordable, and the service is always friendly and never saccharin or snotty. A plus is the front is completely open to the outside – great for people watching on Farmer’s Market Sundays! This place is my new local hangout. SOSO happy it’s here! Enjoy!

Stopped in at this relatively new spot to try the salads and sandwiches. Prices are a bit on the high side($ 12 seems to be the entry point for many), but the quality and flavor or the items was quite good. Two items were subpar: service was slow(a simple lunch took almost an hour), and the side salad didn’t have any dressing on it, just plain greens. I’m assuming both were anomalies.
