I am very upset & not happy at all. I created an order online to go… I have a foot in a brace so I don’t drive. I sent my brother with the order number and I made sure I put it under his name. Well I be damned… They turned him away! Are you kidding me??? I paid over 50 bucks for breakfast & they say sorry this order number does not exist! I have an email of confirmation… I called not once but 4 times, they put me on hold for over 3 minutes each… I WILLNEVERCOMEBACKORORDERFROMHERE… Why provide a service that is not Efficient and the Female is not a friendly person that answers the phone? I had to give a 1 to make a complaint, but it’s NEGATIVE by all means, PLEASETEACHYOURPEOPLETONOTJUDGE A BOOKBYITSCOVER. Racists I truly believe against my brother… ALMOSTANHOURWAITINGANDSTILLNOFOOD

Pretty basic. Food is just alright. It’s typically very crowded but the food gets to you pretty quick. I think it shows in the meal though, I feel like it’s lazily put together. Food isn’t gross, just nothing special.

Very great atmosphere. Came here twice for breakfast, back to back days. They have mimosas and flavored coffee creamer. I had chicken and waffles and it was yummy. We had Nancy the first day and the second day Karen. Great customer service from both ladies and great food! Their a mom and pop chain and worth visiting if your here on vacation.

Two Border Benedicts every time. Don’t know what else they have here but I’m sure it’s good: P Just kidding I’ve had other things on their menu but it takes quite a bit to get me to choose anything else.

By day 3 of my trip to SD, that wasn’t a La Jolla sea lion waddling down Garnet Avenue in Pacific Beach. That was my new pinniped self – body transformed by breakfast burritos and California omelettes. We were seated on the outdoor patio on the 2nd floor and the day was San Diego perfect. Sunny, slight breeze, not humid. You sit on a 2nd floor outdoor patio where I’m from this time of year and you will need a busboy to train a hose on you. Drinking coffee would just make you pass out. I ordered the California omelette, which means stuffing fried taters inside of a bunch of eggs with bacon and cheese, then slathering it in sour cream. My choice of sides were home fries, hash browns, beans and rice(!!), and fresh fruit. For some perverse pinnipedal reason, I chose hash browns like I didn’t have enough fried taters already. Sometimes grease and ketchup prevail. Service was brisk and got brisker as about a dozen people filed in for a high school graduation party brunch. I think outdoor patio breakfasts under blue skies and whispy white clouds are celebrations all by themselves and I was glad the servers were cheery and matched the outdoor environment. Also, there is dozen egg omelette challenge here. I can’t even imagine such a thing. Well, yet.

We ordered the Golden State Benedict, The eggs, perfectly poached and I emphasize perfectly. This alone is a very promising sign because you would be surprised how often poached eggs miss the mark. My favourite is American Breakfast, order whites only, came with 2 eggs ommlete with Bacon. Served with your choice of home fries, hash browns or fresh fruit. Also choose from a biscuit, blueberry muffin, toast or tortillas. Applewood-smoked bacon add $ 1.00 Coffee was a good temperature, not too strong but not weak, good flavor, pretty much what you would expect from a breakfast place. They have flavored creamers if that’s your thing. And don’t forget the Mimosa. And ocean breeze open Terrace, wow. Over all it was an eggcellent place, good portion size and well prepared, and warrants a return visit.

First time here, but not an overall good experience. Came in, host was attentive as well as the busser. He always refilled water and always around nearby. Food was pretty average. However Sarah the server, skipped our table 3 times, it wasn’t until an hour later when we finally got our food. We came at least 10 minutes first before the other 3 tables she helped first. We asked for a box, never came, a busser helped us in the side server station. Server was nice but we even had to wait another 10 minutes for a bottle of champagne and 3 glasses. You had 2 hard rock servers and a bartender by the way.

Came here for brunch on two occasions. To me, this is the California version of a NJ diner. The food was ok. but the mimosas were great.

Excellent customer service. But. Do you like expensive eggs? Expensive coffee? Expensive waffles? Well then you’re in luck. I’m not personally a fan of overpriced breakfast but clearly a lot of people in San Diego are. My plates of food looked super sad. I mean I wanted to cry. In fact I did cry a little. A few tears, but shit, who wants to cry at breakfast?! Not me! My hash browns not cooked, raw eggs, mushy biscuit and waffle with butter for $ 30?! Hmmm, I’m crying again remembering my sad dollars being sent off to Broken Yolk Camp to be treated to crappy Broken Yolk Prison food. Poor little guys. Never coming back to this place, too bad for the lady that worked there she was the only positive experience about this whole place. If i could give 0 stars, I would.

I’ve driven past this place so many times, where there is a huge crowd of people waiting to get a table here. I thought they must have something special. When my kid got an award from school that came with one free kids breakfast, this was the perfect opportunity to give it a try. They boys get up early so we can beat the weekend crowd that comes. I was happy when we showed up Saturday morning and seated immediately. We had a table near the door and I did notice that the place was already pretty loud and not all the tables were taken yet. There was plenty of staff to get thing quickly as I assume this place wants quick turnover with the tables. Kids had menu’s with activities and crayons that kept them busy while we waiting for our food. I ordered a mocha and for the price it tasted awful. It felt like it was instant hot chocolate with some coffee poured in. The kids were happy enough with their choices of pancakes and French Toast. I ordered some Eggs Benedict which I never make at home so it is nice when you go to a restaurant and order it. It was cold when it came to the table. I didn’t want to eat it, but was hungry and not going to try sending it back. It didn’t taste very good, so I’m wondering if I just ordered the wrong thing. I’m just not that curious to give it another chance. I usually eat breakfast at home and think if I do eat out, I would rather try someplace new than come back here again.

Jenny gave us the best customer service anyone could ever ask for. She was very tentative and made sure we all had everything we needed. Juan was pleasant as well. He kept the coffee coming, and managed to bring 8 glasses of water simultaneously. Awesome! The food was great also. I will femininely come back here. The orange juice was freshly squeezed, the portions were large, and the prices are set perfectly. Thank you staff! We shall return soon.

Located in central PB, this place is a great breakfast joint. by the way their breakfast taste i assume their lunch menue is just as good. What really sells this place are their employees. Awesome service, always helpful and have great attitudes towards their customers. I come here once a week for a Buisness meeting and they have been very accommodating. They also offer an outdoor space on the second level which is really nice

It’s like an over-priced Denny’s. I sat upstairs which was nice. I got some type of coffee thing that looked like a distance and was sticky to drink. They re coffee selection here is pretty poor too which is kind of the reason o went in in the first place. I got the biscuits and gravy with a side of bacon which came on top of the biscuits and covered in the gravy for some reason? I said SIDE of bacon. The biscuits also were overpowering the gravy. Honestly probably won’t be back any time soon.

Mixed bag on this one… Ordered breakfast items on a weekday around noon. Place was crowded and service was slow. No real iced coffee(hot coffee poured over ice) but they have«iced mocha and iced latte» on the menu which lead me to believe they had cold coffee somewhere? Not great. Food itself was ok, but not how I ordered it. I had swapped American cheese for Swiss(still got American) and well done home fries(they were still just regular). Not sure the meal was a good value, came in around $ 35 for two people. Waitress did her best and was super nice but it’s not on my short list of breakfast spots, which stinks because the location is close. Reminded me of a classier Denny’s(which is like 2 miles away btw).

I’m quite surprised by the reviews I’ve seen on Unilocal for the broken yolk… Every time I’ve been(three separate times because I’ve heard good things so tried to give a few chances) I just thought the food was mediocre, prices were fine but only if the food was better quality, and the wait was crazy long. Living in a place like San Diego where there are so many awesome brunch options, I’m just not sure why anyone would pay and wait for a place that’s just«ok…» It’s far from special and I honestly feel that most of their breakfast items I could easily replicate in my own kitchen. The hash browns were totally bland, their eggs I could definitely scramble the same exact way, sweeter options were passable but nothing to write home about… I just don’t think their food is good enough compared to so many other places…

Fair warning, the last time I came here was years ago. So, things now might not be up to date. Apologies in advance. This place has gotten purdy purdy popular, I see. Already opening more locations throughout San Diego and even to other counties. Here’s the thing: If you’re courageous enough to try their Ironman food challenge(formerly the Broken Yolk Special), realize that it’s rather disgusting. Hell, it even includes stuff that doesn’t seem necessary, like a whole mound of homefries that can feed a whole group of hungry college kids. They know that you’re less likely to eat more of what you don’t enjoy. As for the rest of the food, it’s fairly decent. Not amazing, not bad. I don’t think the wait is worth it. And if you go with a big group, have fun waiting for even longer. Service is very good. They’re as efficient and fast as possible. Parking: Anywhere you can find it. They have their own lot area in the back that you can access through the alley. There’s also a lot across the street, parallel parking, or anywhere in the surrounding area. But try their own parking first. For the feat, it’s something to cross off the bucket list. For a brunch place, it’s not much better than so many other places in San Diego. If I can get over the though of the wait, I can absolutely consider another visit one of these days.

Stopped in for a Saturday breakfast and this place was packed! Obviously the Broken Yolk has a faithful following in the area and combined with a good Unilocal rating that must keep them busy. I had Eggs Benedict and they were good. The Hollandaise was tasty and hot, which is saying something for most places. It’s never pleasant to have cold Hollandaise on your eggs… I guess the reason for my 3-star vs a 4-star is that, while the food and service were good, there was nothing really«outstanding» that would bump it up. It’s hard to get 4-stars on a breakfast unless there’s something that really pushes me over the top about the food or the location. A solid choice and I would definitely visit again.

Always a 10+ minute wait at the Garnet location. I haven’t always had the best experiences, but this time I had excellent(and FUN) service from our waitress Nancy. Our waters and coffees were always filled too. I think the pricing is a little high, but take into consideration the portion sizes are HUGE. Like 4 egg omelettes huge. They also have early bird specials from 6−8am for about $ 7. I usually opt for an egg dish which averages about $ 12. Comes with your choice of sides and lots of choices you have. Check in on Unilocal and get 10% off! If it is nice outside, request being upstairs on their lovely patio. I have to say that their fresh-squeezed orange juice is outta this world! I also like the big slices of toast. It is definitely not the best breakfast ever, but overall I would say it is a good value for the quality and portion sizes. The menu is extensive. If you come hungry, you will have a hard time deciding on what to have. I always opt for breakfast, but lunch options look good too. Usually I don’t come here unless there are friends in town. Convenience is a huge factor when you like in PB.

I was not impressed with this place. It’s all hype. I started today meal with a messy caramel latte. It was too sweet. I couldn’t even finish it. When I poured it into my Togo cup there was a half inch worth of caramel. I got an American breakfast. It was over priced($ 12.95)for something I could have gotten at Denny’s. My boyfriend got the eggs Benedict. It was okay. The food was mediocre.

The place was very clean, staff was super friendly. Our waitress provided great suggestions and we were pleasantly surprised(thx Veronica!). I highly recommend this spot!

So bummed. We have been to other broken yolk locations before, and we’re excited to try another. Sadly we were very disappointed. We went on a Monday morning, so not as busy as a weekend. You would think they would have more time for their customers. But our server took our order so fast and running around like he was super overwhelmed. Both my son and my husband’s order was wrong. And when we said as much we got a rude server who took our pancake plates back. To only receive the same ones with added chocolate chips thrown on top. My husband got the fall special pancakes maple bacon and peanut butter. So when his order came out with regular pancakes… we were severely disappointed when they brought back his same pancakes with some bacon bits and peanut butter chips tossed on top :/ And our 1 year old never got her order of scrambled eggs. So disappointed in this location, we will not back. I don’t think I can say the word DISAPPOINTED enough :(

The Broken Yolk is always a faithful, hearty meal, you can always count on being super«comforting»… yep, some of the ultimate breakfast, comfort food, ever. There is a Broken Yolk far more closer to my house in Del Mar, but there’s a little fun in wandering over to Pacific Beach for a change of scenery. And the energy in this particular beach town is far more buzzing with young and hip energy… It’s inspiring watching everyone not give a damn ;) So with that being said, everything is wonderful on the menu, and I absolutely recommend it all. The staff is super sweet and always willing to explain anything you need… In the summer you can eat outside on the terrace above all the bustle, with a great view to people watch. And with the beach at your disposal, a brisk walk would be just perfect to wrap up breakfast. :) Enjoy!

Not too many breakfast spots here in PB. We had a guest with us, so we decided to take her here. Something different, a special breakfast outing. Not really a fan of street parking, but finding a place to park on Garnet isn’t too hard. Food was good, staff was friendly. Food was served in a timely manner, the restaurant is well maintained and clean. Everything was good. I had eggs Benedict, picked home fries as my side. Pretty big portions, I couldn’t finish my plate. Overall, it was good. Nothing special about it, just your same eggs Benedict. Then the check came out. This place is totally over priced! $ 3.25 for my raspberry tea, $ 2.95 for soft drinks? $ 2.75 for coffee?! … There will not be a next time. TIP: Check-in to get 10% off your entire bill.

This is a good breakfast joint if you don’t mind the wait. This location in particular has very to little parking… So we parked in the shopping in the shopping center a crossed the street and hoped we wouldn’t get towed. The restaurant is super packed. I always felt like the waiters would drop a chair on my head. We were at a table for two but it was only about three inches away from the table next to us. It was super loud in there but we came during prime time. The food took a while to arrive but the portions were large. The food was good but comparable to Denny’s except much more expensive. This place has a great location so we’ll probably be back. And the menu is large so I’d like to try more things to see what the buzz is about.

Aside from having to witness three seriously wasted people who were still in party mode at 10am from the night before, I tried my best to enjoy breakfast, but they were ugly drunk. I’m not judging, but having them in my line of sight was unpleasant. Kudos to the server, Nancy, who was our server too, for looking after them and boxing up their food when it was obvious that they needed to leave. She was very gracious and cheerful and empathetic. I enjoyed the benedict with Sriracha drizzled on top of the hollandaise. It came with bacon, tomato, lots of avocado and poached eggs, of course. GF enjoyed the Florentine Bene. The spinach was a beautiful, fresh green and not wilted to the point of being dead. Since we drank plenty of coffee at home, we did not order any beverages, and yet the bill was $ 26+ without tip. Worth returning? Maybe, if the drunks stay home.

This was by far the worst breakfast I’v ever had in my life. The cute local place we wanted to go to had a long line, so we though why not, we’re starving cheap diner food it is. Well, one cheap it is not. Even though it looks like a Dennys or an IHOP, the prices are $ 13 – 14 an entrée and $ 3 for coffee, you can have much better gourmet local fare for the same price. If the guy hadn’t immediately poured us coffee that we’d have to pay $ 6 for, I would’ve left then, but I thought oh well, let’s try it. The food did not even look good in the photos, but it is really hard to screw up breakfast, so how bad could it be? Really bad. I got a veggie omelette that was cold with uncooked spinach, tomatoes, and mushrooms in it. I’ve never had a place serve cold uncooked produce into the middle of what tasted like a prefabricated fake egg product that they maybe microwaved, but not for long enough, leaving it cold. My husband got a breakfast burrito, which was also gross and flavorless, and rockhard on one-side by cold on the other, I guess they only grilled one side for a long time? I tried a bite of his refried beans and they tasted like chalky paste, must have been reheated from the night before, and clearly from a package like Taco Bell or somthing, but with less flavor. I’ve never had food that was so bland and tasteless, yet full of grease. We both ate less than 1⁄3 of the meal and left feeling sick. Oh and the coffee is like water, tasted like nothing, just like the food. It is practically clear and had no flavor. We were visibily disatisfied and didn’t eat our meals, so you’d think the waitress would notice and say something, but she didn’t care even when I told her the food was so bad we didn’t even want to take it home to our dog at the end. I would not reccommend this place to anyone, unless they were like my arch nemesis or something. Rather eat McDonalds breakfast.

Variety of omelettes to choose from and I love the fact that they serve real fresh fruit with your omelettes! That’s already an upgrade from IHOP. My friend and I came here on a Saturday morning for brunch after walking on Pacific Beach. I ordered the Mile High Omelette and she ordered the Greek Yogurt Parfait! The fact that they could give great service even when the restaurant was fully packed on a Saturday morning has won me over. prepare to look hard for parking though; it’s very limited.

Went to this location since I was in the area. Missed the turn towards the beach: P but came across Broken Yolk by accident. Fortunately found the small parking lot in the back. This location reminds me of a diner. Smaller than the other one off of Carmel, however it makes it more intimate. Although we weren’t that hungry, we ended up sharing the Tiki toast. Hawaiian bread, coconut shredded, fruit and caramel. Doesn’t even need syrup naturally sweet. I had organic lemonade & a mimosa, we even got to use our $ 2 off coupon Yay! I do like mimosas and want to try the sunset mimosa with pomegranate
