I came here on a whim and decided to try the chipotle chicken burrito on blind faith and boy I was NOT disappointed! The burrito had so much flavor and cheese, LOTS of cheese and if you’re lactose intolerant like I am, don’t forget your lactaid haha! I’ll definitely be coming back and also finding out what all was in that burrito because I’m hooked!

Long time 619 residents know that, after a while, your local taco shops can all bleed together and become one collective mundane beige experience. Thank the burrito folding gods for bestowing Tako Factory upon us. Tako Factory puts a clever spin on the burritos San Diegans have been shoving in our mouths for years. What other place puts cream cheese jalapeño poppers AND chipotle mayo in their standard breakfast burrito??? I wouldn’t say all the workers are necessarily warm, but I had 4 of them ask me how my meal was as they walked in and out of the building doing their work. Not In-N-Out levels of friendly, but they were each genuinely interested in what I thought, and that’s the important part. The burritos taste like careful and attentive creativity at work. Standouts: Wake and Bake, CA, Shrimp Killer, and Chicken Chipotle burritos are all delicious deviations from standard taco shop fanfare. The adobada is outstanding as well. You can see it rotating on its spit in the kitchen. Ask to try their special peanut salsa!

I have been here four times in the last month. Each time I try something new. The surf and turf burrito and the asada fries are amazing. Their salsas are great, but definitely on the hotter side. The guys that work there are really friendly too.

The guys there were friendly and the service was great. We had a few tacos, and were given a nice small bag of chips with a few different salsas. All of the sauces were super tasty. The tacos were perfect. I liked the casual atmosphere and music being played(reggae/Mexican); it was all really chill and tasty.

The food is good, but they close whenever they feel like it and constantly run out of things on the menu.

We eat here weekly. Seriously BOMB food. You can’t go on living until you try their adobada fries. LIFECHANGING. I crave it daily. Not to mention their salsas are house made and beyond delicious. I get extras and save them for when I cook throughout the week.

Thought I check this place out cause of the high reviews. There were about five people waiting for their orders. A big burly guy came out and started handing out chips in a bag with salsa and I went to grab two cause i thought it was my two tacos I ordered and he had an attitude saying«you going to eat two when the others need chips» Jeez I am sorry I said. Didn’t smile or did a LOL big ass monkey just look like a pissed off worker. As for the food Meh. The Adoba taco was way to salty and the Mahi Taco was good. Just another taco shop trying to be a taco shop with a twist. That server needs a better attitude. Everyone else seemed nice.

This place is really good! The staff has always been friendly and open to chit chat. They’ve never once gotten an order wrong or messed up in any other way. Sometimes there’s a guy that’ll bring out a salsa from his own recipe book and I highly recommend it. Maybe if enough people praise it, they’ll throw it on the menu! Their carne asada fries are massive btw and I do mean massive.

I have lived in San Diego for 16 years. I’ve had my fair share of burritos in my lifetime and these are the best. The host described every detail of the three burritos my gf was interested in. I ordered the surf and turf and a Coke. She ordered a beer(which was not over priced like some places). The burritos were amazing, the service was outstanding. I’ll recommend this place to all of my friends. Side note… saw a couple of cops in here eating. Cops know all the good places to eat.

Good place if you’re down for a different taco shop experience. The rolled tacos and adobada tacos are awesome. Carne asada chips are also tasty. Check-in offer for dine-in is a free drink, so take advantage if you’ve got the time

Moved to town two weeks ago. Been here 5 times. Best taco shop in San Diego. Bringing innovative ideas and great guys in the shop. Besides amazing food I’ve heard they really help clean up the drugs in this area as they move the RIf Raf. So stoked this is walking distance from our new home

Man I wish I discovered this place earlier and it’s so close to where I live! I have to say the shrimp tacos were THEBEST. It’s the reason why I give this place 5 stars. Just that alone got me there I’ve also tried asada, chicken chipotle, mahi. :P The others were pretty good too. I wasn’t a fan of the chicken chipotle like the others. The chicken was a bit dry in my opinion. The mahi one was good though and the asada give lots of meat. Carne Asada Fries were pretty good too. They’re actually even better the next day in my own opinion. Portion size is huge. I do prefer the Abodaba fries better. The meat was more flavorful. I have yet to try the killer shrimp burrito but that’s where I’m heading to next when I come back! Also, this place has a really cute outdoor seating :) perfect place to just chill or have a date night with tacos: P

We came here recently for my bfs bday. We were greeted by the friendly staff and the cashier gent patiently helped me understand the specials in the menu and find my bfs 12 year old vegetarian daughter a California burrito. Minus meat, with potatoes. She loved it! The bf got the real cali burrito, and being a connoisseur of such, it was happily washed down with a dos XX. It took some coaxing, as I’m a simpleton, a bean and cheese always satisfies belly and my budget, but this time, I stepped up to the killer burrito. Shrimp, cheese, rice, and happiness. Next time I’ll ask them to put some beans in it. I ate a little more than half, I was going to save the remainder for lunch. When we returned home I could not wait, I finished it. .i never finish a burrito… it was just sooo good. This place definitely is a step up from a regular taco shop. We hung out for a while to listen to the music, watch random kids dance, and enjoyed the atmosphere… I would have never thought I’d say that about hanging out on El Cajon blvd. Please go and support this business. It’s a value to La Mesa and the food is great. Thank you. he probably gave it two thumbs up and a big smile.

This place is 4 stars on most days, 5 stars on Taco Tuesday! TT: Come on down from 5−10pm for $ 2 tacos and $ 2 Mexican beers: –adobada, carne asada, boiled chicken(in order of deliciousness) –tecate, xx, modelo, negra modelo Otherwise, their surf & turf burritos are enormous and extremely delicious. Also, they have rotating taps, and I had the honor of trying an IPA from a local Tijuana brewery. It was out of control delicious, especially with the heat that the habanero salsa was unabashedly providing! Staff are cool, scene is hip /casual, strongly recommend!

Everything we ordered was delicious! We went a little overboard with ordering because we couldn’t decide. Had shrimp taco, chicken chipotle taco, mahi taco, sd poppers and a killer shrimp burrito between 2 of us. A little too much food but so good! The salsas are to die for and come with a side of chips they provide with your order. We kept the salsa for all of our main entrees as well! Whatever is in the dark red salsa, I would really like to know. Chipotle chicken taco was by far my favorite thing to try. Their food seemed like it was prepared differently than most taco shops which really makes this place unique.

Oh no they di’int! Seasoned fries on their carne asada fries? Oh yes they did. A hefty serving of fries with plenty of seasoned meat, some kind of white sauce and I don’t know what else, but it was delicious and perfectly satisfying. They could have been more generous with the guacamole but avocados are expensive, I get it, I guess. I also had a mahi grill taco and it too was tasty. They add flair to regular taco shop grub. Tako Factory definitely stands on its own, and I’ll be back for a burrito. I hope they are as delicious as they sound.

I wouldn’t say that this is the best place for carne asada fries, but they are pretty good, especially for the prices. The service here is also one of the best I’ve had in any food place. I always get the carne asada fries here, but the portions are kind of inconsistent. I feel like they give you more when you order take out than when you dine in. I can usually finish at least most of it when I do dine in, but for take out I can barely finish half of it. The basket that they give it to you in for dine in is probably smaller than the take out boxes, which makes for the portions. Other than that, they have their own unique salsa, along with their homemade peanut sauce, all of which are good, though a little bit on the spicier side. Their guacamole is so smooth and creamy, and they don’t skimp on any of the other toppings. There’s enough of it to mix with the fries. Speaking of the fries, instead of the usual traditional fries shape, they use crinkle cut fries. This makes it so that you still get the crunchiness of the fries, yet you still get the softness of the potato inside. Personally, I still like the traditional fries, but I still like these for their individuality! It looks like a hole in the wall kind of place on the outside, but don’t let that stop you from coming here. The people there are super nice and they like to strike conversations with their customers. If you are missing something from your order or want something, they will also get it for you and personally give it to you at your table. I think more locals or people who stay here long term come here to eat, and not so much for tourists or people just visiting the area. They like to put their own homemade twist and flavors on their food though, so it’s something to definitely try out. Also: If you check in here on Unilocal, you get a free drink!(Dine in only)
