Storage West Self Storage

I’ve had two units and one parking space rented at this location for about nine months now. It is for work/​company use.
We had some specific needs in regards to hours to access the units (we are an events company and often need to pick up or deliver our equipment during odd hours) and they were accommodating to our needs, taken all the formalities. That’s something no other storage wanted to do for us, so I appreciate them going the extra mile.
The staff is friendly but not all of them. Sometimes it’s a hit or miss but the guy who helps me is always the greatest (Derek). Always smiling, always willing to help.
Their prices are a bit higher than the other places but I take in consideration their flexibility with our needs so it’s all good. Units are well taken care of (especially the new ones at the D building) but I think they could get some more lighting outside. I go there at night often and it’s even a bit scary so dark it can get.
Other than that I have no complains about them. We will keep our stuff there for as long as our program exists!

I chose this storage because it was close by and location is key when moving tons of furnitures and personal belongings.
The manager is nice, but the other employee weren’t very welcoming. They weren’t polite and seem like they didn’t want to be there.
Prices are average.
The gate hours are until 7pm, I went at 6:20pm and the gate opener was broken so I couldn’t get anything and no one was at the office… The gate opener was broken for more than a week. extremely annoying!

Good facilities. Great customer service. No compaints. Shout out to Derreck who went out of his way, stayed late, went above & beyond. Definitely would choose this place. Puppy love from Inventing Joy & Furry Folk

We moved from Las Vegas to San Diego and found we had way too much stuff for our new downsized lifestyle. We had less than a week until my husband started his new position so we decided to bring it with us and throw it in storage. I found Storage West on line and made a reservation. I received a call from a representative within 24 hours to confirm my reservation.
After a LONG drive w/​cats, trailers, trucks, and traffic we arrived. The gentleman at Storage West, Derreck, was pleasant, welcoming, and very helpful. He was explaining something to me and I cut him off. (I blame exhaustion on my rudeness) he didn’t let it phase him. He continued to be polite and helpful.
I watched as various customers walked in and each was welcomed like an old friend. I actually thought they were friends or employees since they were so comfortable with everyone. It was a little Norm from Cheers!
Excellent service, good rates, clean place. I’m sold.

This is my third time using Storage West for their Student Special for the summer and I have to say, they really do make moving out of on-​campus apartments/​dorms hassle-​free. As an international student, I found it quite troublesome trying to find a place to store everything for the summer as I didn’t want to inconvenience any friends too much by asking to store my 10+ boxes at their place or ask them to drive long distances to help me move out.
The first time I used their service in 2010, I made a reservation online for a 5×5 sq ft. unit under the Student Special ($ 150 for the whole summer, move-​in can start two weeks before school ends and the storage unit expires 2 weeks after school starts). When I got to the location after my finals ended, the staff informed me that they were all out of 5×5 units, BUT, because I had made a reservation when 5×5 units were still available, they upgraded my unit to a 10×10 for the 5×5 price! I was basically given a unit FOUR TIMES BIGGER than what I’d been expecting. Although I ended up only using a small corner of my unit, I was extremely happy with their service!
The storage units themselves are clean, have good security (gates have 7-​digit codes you set yourself, the unit is equipped with a heavy-​duty disc-​lock that comes with the Student Special package, and there is 24 hr surveillance in their office), and elevator access for 2^nd floor units and carts to assist with moving.
I know they provide free move-​in trucks for places within a certain mile distance (I forget how many miles), which covers the UCSD campus. I’ve never had the need to schedule a truck but it is definitely a good option for students who do not have cars or do not have friends available to help.
One thing that I’ve been having a problem with is the rising prices of the Student Special. The first year I used it, it was $ 150, the second year $ 180, and this year, $ 200. I’ve been able to find friends to split units with so it reduced the cost by a lot. But still, a 6-​min drive and convenient package is what makes Storage West the best option around the area!

This place has the friendliest staff. They have lent me a hand picking a perfect unit so I don’t have to lug my stuff in every year when I had to move out of my house/​dorm/​apartment through college. They even trusted me at times to use their dollies and just lock everything up past closing time.
The best part, they always have GREAT deals. Perfect for students and conveniently located nearby the UCSD campus.

Storage West La Jolla is the Nordstrom of self storage facilities. They do it all right.
I have nothing but great things to say about Storage West and all the people I’ve encountered there. They are friendly and kind — they bent over backwards to help me. The facility itself is clean and well lighted (important to me as a female), but it’s really the people that make this a terrific experience.
Watch for the huge American flag on Eastgate Mall — that’s how to spot them in a sea of industrial buildings.

Had to find storage for my things before I move to LA. This location is perfect because it’s so close to my old apartment. Very clean, convenient, and Richard is amazing! He is so friendly, and made the process so simple and easy. I’ve had a bad experience with another storage company before, and Richard has made every concern of mine go away.
I feel very fortunate to have found them, and will definitely use them again. Bonus — they have a 14″ moving truck they allow you to use. Awesome deal, but I think restrictions apply.

super convenient, clean, secure. the manager helped me a lot by searching for a well-​located unit so I could easily access my things. I was surprised that there is RV storage there, as well.

ok, at least some of my stuff is anyway.
checking out for prices and these guys had the quality (no flimsy wobbly boxes) and lower prices for the items that i was looking for.
they even helped me load my car which is not easy for a teeny clown car.
