I was referred to Wahines by my niece who is visiting from England. I’ve been looking for some new sandals for some time and she bought some Rainbow shoes here. I’m 62, with rheumatoid arthritis and use a cane to walk, so I accept that I’m probably not the usual demographic in this store. I was greeted with a disembodied«hello» when I entered the store. After that, no-one spoke to me! I was not asked what I was looking for, whether I could be helped and when I left I didn’t get a goodbye, either! A mother and daughter duo in the store were offered a lot of assistance. I was looking for several pairs of sandals as thong sandals are the most comfortable for me to wear and I don’t need closed toe shoes very often here in San Diego. I tried on several brands — Reef and Rainbow and others — then left. I subsequently bought five pairs of shoes online. Three were for me and two were for two of my three twenty-something daughters. Someone missed out on a nice commission. Note to the pretty young assistants at this store — it’s the old broads like me that have the cash to spend!

the shoes are kind of disorganized with sizes hung all over the place but otherwise a fun selection of toms shoes, swim suits, beach cover ups and day dresses. lots of baby teenie weenie bikinis and kid’s shoes like toms or vans. i find the swimsuits a touch pricey but on par with pb. plus they carry it year round when the chain or department stores only have them seasonally. the place is cramped with items and there can be a long line to try on clothes. still some cute bikinis to pick from!

After an exhaustive search for Rainbows, I wandered in to one of my PB favorites and was delighted with the selection. When they did not have my size, the clerk called their other store and had them hold a pair for me… and bonus, the other store was a 5 min walk away. I ended up walking out with a new Billabong bag, a knit beanie, Rainbows for my boyfriend, and a Pura Vida bracelet as well. Also, hands-down the best selection of Toms I’ve ever seen! And the proximity to the beach is just an added bonus!

What a cute store! They carry all women’s surf clothes at reasonable prices, especially considering the location. I’ve compared prices(Toms, Roxy, etc.) online and they’re the same. Very nice staff… I forgot my ID(required with a credit purchase) and the girl told me she’d hold my stuff until the next day, or I could use the ATM. Oh, and I got the CUTEST baby Vans for a friend of mine… haven’t been able to find them many other places.

I LOVE Wahines!!! They clothes are super cute and it’s an actual boutique surf shop just for girls! There is Billabong, O’Neill, Quiksilver Girls, Roxy, TOMS, Reef, and so much more! The staff is so friendly and will always help you out and be honest with you when you try stuff on. Love it!

South Coast Wahine’s is an awesome shop! They carry all the cutest women’s surf clothes and their styles are always up to date. Their brands include all of the typical surf brands(Roxy, Billabong, Quicksilver, Element, RVCA, Volcomn, etc). They also have a really great selection of flip flops and Toms. The girls that work here are all very helpful and knowledgable about their products. They only have stuff for women but they have a men’s shop just one block away!

I CANNOT walk out of here without buying a pair of Tom’s or an Element sweater. This is a mandatory stop when go to the PB boardwalk and I love their seasonal sales. The staff is always helpful and friendly.

I’ve always had a great experience shopping at Wahines. The girls are always attentive and helpful and give honest answers when asked how something looks or goes together. Dressing rooms are always clean and there is always someone there to get a bigger or smaller size when needed. If they don’t have it in their store they will unfailingly call one of their sister stores to find what I need. I really appreciate the customer service I receive every time.

I never walk out of here empty handed first off. I know when I come in here, I’m going to find an abundance of cute flip flops that are slightly overpriced(they are ON the boardwalk and therefore paying higher rent and catering to tourists) but that will be the cutest pair in PB. I also know that the clothing is cute and I most likely will regret not buying if I leave whatever I covet behind. Lastly I know that the sales they have slightly justify my spending habits in here. That said, I heart this store. SUPERCUTE kids clothing too.

I’ve got into this store dozens of times, and it is unfailingly staffed by moderately attractive young girls who are completely absorbed in their conversation with each other and ridiculously inattentive to the customers. It’s cramped quarters, but I swear at times they’ve had 4 girls working the itsy-bitsy floor. On special occasions, they will drawl. «Byyyyyee,» when you leave the store, empty-handed because you’re pissed. When you do ask to use the dressing room or for a particular item, they usually act put out and trudge over to the dressing room with the keys. Then they kind of hover until you’re done. It’s an awkward experience all around. I’d like to be proven wrong, girls, so next time I come in try a little personal attention stop talking about«How haaawwwwt Rauuuuul isss» and how«Jessica is suuchhhhh a baaaaaatch,» and let’s work together to buy some homogenized beachwear!

I have a soft spot for this place because it was where I bought my first pair of reefs when I was like 16, on a trip to SD with my friends. We thought I was so damn cool trolling the boardwalk for boys and then playing hey mister for smirnoff ice at night. This past weekend was the first time I have been back since then, and not much has changed. I got a really cute pair of earrings, that I already lost the right one too. I am sad. But the staff was super helpful and if you are looking for surfy type stuff, this is the place to go.

A lot of people think the owner is kind of snobby and boycott it because of the company he keeps at Windansea. But I have never had a problem with him and I think he turned a corner on localism when he started doing the surf reports on 94.9. Regardless, the selection at his surfshop is pretty good. They usually have good board shorts, wetsuits and gear. And the rest of the people who work there are chill. Plus, they sell used boards on consignment upstairs which can be useful for both buyers and sellers.
