Shaffer & Associates, APC

I hired Ms. Shaffer to handle my uncontested divorce. This should have been an easy transaction and only taken the mandatory 6 month waiting period. Instead, she filed the incorrect paperwork (because she was clearly unfamiliar with the appropriate way to handle a situation where the other party did not have a lawyer and was not contesting the terms). In addition, she forgot to include one of my two children in the child support agreement (among other gross oversights in the financials) and I didn’t notice this until after I had presented it to my ex, leading to major personal problems. These egregious mistakes ended up costing me literally thousands of dollars to correct and an extra 6 months to get divorced! When I pointed out her mistakes, SHE got angry and fired me as a client — but of course not before keeping her entire $ 5000 retainer and still billing me an extra $ 1000. Her involvement only caused me a delay in my divorce and forced me to find new counsel in the middle of an already tough situation. I high recommend you find other representation.

I hired Shaffer and associates to handle my custody matter. After complete and total disappointment working with Krystal Limon, an associate attorney at Ms. Shaffers firm. I tried multiple attempts to contact Ms. Shaffer to discuss my dissatisfaction and to see if I could work with a different attorney at the firm or if she could have a talk with my current attorney to get things back on track. The only responses I was ever given were about billing disputes (which I did not have a problem with at the time) and that if I would like to talk to Ms. Shaffer that I would have to be billed at her hourly rate. She expressed no concern about my case, she expressed no concern about my lack of satisfaction with an attorney at her firm, she expressed no concerns about my satisfaction as a client, the only thing she would ever discuss was billing.
I do not think Krystal Limon was aggressive enough in the pursuit of my interests. I feel she made ethically questionable decisions and I ended the working relationship before the end of my case. I feel that Krystal Lymon lacks the intellect and compassion necessary to be ultimately successful as a family lawyer and I would not hire her again.
Let me be clear, Shaffer & Associates, was let go before the outcome of my case. This review is not a poor review due to a poor outcome, this is a poor review because I did not feel that I was getting my moneys worth and that the quality of work delivered was substandard and inconsistent. Also, I would like to add that the customer service of the entire firm of Shaffer and Associates degraded instantaneously once the attorney client relationship ended. I would not work with any one at firm in in the future as the lead attorney refuses to meet about client satisfaction issues without charging her hourly rate.
This is the lowest review I have ever given. Check my profile. Three stars was the lowest review I’ve given in three years. I’m usually easy to please and a good communicator. Everyone at this firm really does just suck.
