Very middle of the road experience. Staff was friendly, but the sandwich sucked. I had a blt with avocado and cheddar. A ton of really crispy bacon(my fault for not specifying how I like it but it was a little too over cooked), very little mustard(I said a little mustard but I thought they would cover the whole slice of bread lightly), and the avocado was very thin and not enough coverage on the sandwich. I ate it because I was hungry and the Thai shop next door was closed today for the holiday but I probably won’t come back. There are a lot of better options around town for a much better tasting sandwich! Overall it was meh. I could have made a much tastier one at home but I didn’t, so I tried this. $ 9 thrown away.

Sandwiches — like the ones you would make at home but 10x better. What I mean by that is that it’s not over-architected. It’s a solid sandwich, with all the things you would want in it, made just the way you want it. YUM!

Love this local sandwich shop! The owner is always so friendly, her staff always helpful, and the food ALWAYS fresh and delicious. I’d say I visit here 3 – 4 times a month, and in the 6 years I’ve lived in Serra Mesa, they have never skipped a beat. HIGHLYRECOMMENDED

This little restaurant prepares a great variety of some of the best, of the best sandwiches. Their bread is clearly baked in the early hours of the day. They prepare every sandwich to order and what is in between the bread is nutty generous and of the very freshest and highest quality lunch meats, cheeses, condiments and vegetables. They also offer several, actually made in house, soups, brownies, salads, etc. There exists a chain sandwich shop just across the street from this family owned deli. Why anyone would buy one of their«bready» boring offerings is beyond me. I would crawl across that street for the food, of the far superior, San Diego Sandwich Shop. The photo is my obnoxious son.

Fresh sandwich. Friendly staff. A little pricy, made up for it with the taste. We will return to try something different. Thank you SD sandwich Co.

I really enjoyed this place. I may also be biased because they were nice enough to let my son’s class tour it and have lunch there when he was in kindergarten. But really they have a very delicious pastrami sandwich. AND you can get ice cream there. EVENBETTER! I really like sandwiches that feel homemade but better and these fit the bill for sure.

I don’t understand why this place doesn’t have more stars. I get the same thing every time backside it is so amazing. #25(turkey, bacon, avocado) on sourdough, add provolone, mayo, Dijon mustard, sprouts, onion, tomato, and jalapeño. The sourdough is so soft and amazing and the regular sizes are big — large is huge. I’ve been coming here for over 2 years and I love it. Can get pretty busy on the lunch hour some days but you can always call ahead!

Only recently introduced to this place and I’ve been back several times. Delicious sandwiches chock full of meat, fresh bread and yummy chili. Will patronize them whenever I’m in the area! Very friendly staff and attitudes too. We appreciate that!

We had been here a couple of times and had great experiences. I am not sure what it going on but the quality of the service has gone down. The girl taking our order looked like she did not want to be there. As if you talking to her was a huge burden. We got our order my son had a sandwich I had a salad. I had to go and ask for salad dressing. Then realized I didn’t get a fork. Finally sit down and there was hair in my salad. That was the final straw. An employee that worked there tried to see if I wanted another item but I had had it by that point. I feel that maybe things like hair in your food happen but I felt they didn’t care about customer experience not one bit. I rather patronize another place. I hope the owner realizes that his/her employees are killing the vibe of this place.

The only sandwich place I could find open on the Friday after Christmas, a lot of stuff was closed but San Diego Sandwich was luckily open for my lunch time snack. I use to come here with coworkers when we worked down the hill off Friars Road. Inside the place they offer sandwiches, chips, cookies, soup, and even ice cream in their freezer case.( ) They offer a large variety of different cold and hot sandwiches along with a good amount of different bread choices. I really don’t like how some businesses don’t have to follow the rules of providing a place to wash your hands. Of course this is limited to restaurants built so long ago with only so much square footage. I was kinda bummed when the cashier told me to use the ‘moist towelettes’ to wash them instead of letting me use their bathroom to quickly wash my hands, oh well. I ordered a hot chicken sandwich with wheat bread( ). They are more than happy to provide you with any of the toppings on the chart behind them. I stuck to the basics of mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion, swiss cheese and theirs no way you can have a chicken sandwich without avocado! As you can see( ) they used large chunks of grilled chicken breast and did a really good job of spreading the condiments out across the sandwich. The wheat bread was toasted perfect and tasted really good with the chicken. The chicken was moist and tasted great with the swiss cheese they used. Overall a quite delicious sandwich and very friendly service. I can definitely recommend San Diego Sandwich Co as a great place to grab a sandwich for lunch, I just wish they provided a place to wash up before eating, some of us work jobs where we get dirty.

Mmmm! This happy little family owned sandwich shop is a neighborhood favorite. There are 30 something different kinds of sandwiches to choose from. Or you can have some soup, salads, fresh fruit, ice cream, smoothies, fresh baked cookies and brownies. I personally have had the egg salad sandwich, the BLT, and the turkey, avocado, and bacon sandwiches. I love them all! Everything is made to order and very fresh. The sandwiches come in two sizes and on several types of breads. Prices start around $ 6.99 and go up, not bad. There is no public restroom, so be prepared.

Got the tuna with marble rye. It was about 8 bucks for the regular. Pretty mediocre sandwich. Bread was nice and fresh. Finished my sandwich half way through and realized they forgot my cheese :(

I have lived within walking distance of this place for years and stopped in today for the first time. What a pleasant surprise. Upon walking through the doors, I was greeted with smiles from everyone. The girl taking orders was a pro. She was helpful, happy and efficient. I ordered a basic turkey sandwich on rye. Everything was fresh tasting and was delicious. I was in a hurry to get back to work and that was no problem. It was served up super quick. I can’t wait to go back! Update — I went back the next day and it was even better. They were slammed and I got another fresh, tasty sandwich just as quickly as last time. Stop reading this and just go there to get yourself a sandwich.

Stacked sandwiches can be found here. We usually order ahead for lunch and pick up our order. The sandwiches have lots if fixins. Our sandwiches usually have lettuce, tomatos, sprouts and onions. The bread is fresh and tasty. Its the meat and the toppings that keep us coming back for more. I like the Tuna Fish here. Also the turkey on wheat with avocado is pretty tasty. The pricing is fair… we usually pay around $ 7 for a stacked sandwich. Half the sandwich could be filling.
