When my son turned 2 years old he started going to speech therapy several times a week. We could not afford to pay our $ 45 per session co-pay, so SDRC picked up the tab. About 9 months into speech therapy, the therapist said, «I think there’s something more going on here than just a speech delay.» SDRC tested him, and sadly they confirmed that our son has mild-moderate Autism. Now he has someone come over to the house 3 days a week for Applied Behavioral Analysis. Again, we cannot afford the $ 45 per session co-pay(around $ 600 per month), so SDRC has stepped in and pays what our health insurance does not. We are very grateful for SDRC and the people there that have coordinated his care — Michele Silva and Kiara Bennett!

Unreliable, unprofessional, worst social worker Rachel Cook. She evicted me! I wish she got fired! Rachel contacted my mom and me, I lived in a Level 4 care group home, there was a lot going on I could not stand, I was Hell ready to leave. Rachel got into looking at a lower Level 3 group home. The group home boss Monica called my mom and asked what’s going on «Why does he have to leave?! Rachel called me and filed a 30 day notice!» Mom was completely shocked, we have not looked at any new independent Level 3 group homes at all yet. Mom called Rachel and she was very upset. We filed an appeal against Regional Center, they have not got back to us. I called Rachel’s boss Darlene and explained what happened, I wanted a new social worker. She got angry and yelled at me that I have to settle this with Rachel by myself, defended Rachel. she did not wanted be bothered about it. Then mom hired an attorney to fight and appeal the 30 day notice and I wanted a new social worker, I had it with Rachel.

I have been dealing with this place since 1994 when we moved back here and my autistic son was about 3 years old. Today he is 23 nearly 24. They have NOT been helpful. Largely their caseworkers are too busy, do not know of any respite agencies or workers near me and simply cannot help. I still do not have respite care.
