Excellent first effort by the SD Holiday Half crew. This race had a nice downhill, mostly flat course along a bike trail next to highway 56 starting at the 15 and ending at the ocean. The course is scenic and fast and encourages you on for a personal best time. The best part of the timing of this race(Dec 28) which encourages you to eat relatively well and continue to train during the difficult holiday season. The only negatives I offer were there were not too many port-of-potties at the start line, and the bag/gear check was not very well organized. The race volunteers were great and provided good support at water spots throughout the course and at the finish line. Thanks for a great race.

The inaugural San Diego Holiday ½ Marathon was held on 12÷29÷13. I really liked the race being held primarily on a bike path fenced off along side the 56 highway. The race began in the Rancho Penasquitos area and finished near Carmel Valley Road. The path offered rolling hills with a 714 foot drop from start to finish. It’s a great race to finish with your best time yet.
