San Diego Blood Bank

Today was my first time here and I had the best experience. My last donation was in 2006 and it was not the best. I passed out during the draw because I didn’t eat. I shared that story with the staff as an ice breaker and one of the girls brought me ice packs just in case it happens again lol. It didn’t because this time I ate. They also seen I was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan so they gave me black and yellow coband! I will donate more often now. Two thumbs up for this location

Great place to donate blood. Nice staff and efficient. I was in and out in 30 minutes. This is where I will come from now on.

This used to be my favorite place to donate, but not anymore. The new nurses are not as experienced as he old ones and have cause my Dad and myself multiple problems over the past few visits. We will not be returning here anytime soon.
The staff are friendly, but don’t tend to stay there long. I have come here regularly for years and he only people I recognize now are management and like one nurse who switches with somewhere else sometimes. I think that it is time to diversify in the blood donor center, but I love the sam diego blood bank!

This place is nothing short of frustrating. If you want to be aggravated about donating blood then you are at the right location. Shameful. If I could give negative stars I would. Red Cross is a better choice by far, and they have an app that you can use.

Everyone is super nice and attentive. The facility is very nice as well. The donation barely hurt in comparison to my other donations. This was my first time to the center and I plan to continue to go here because of the positive experience I had here.

Donating blood is something that is far from pleasant, but this is something, a routine, that allows me to give something back to my community. The staff at this location is very nice. My previous preferred location was at Upas St. near Balboa Park.

Everytime I see an incoming call from an unknown number I know that these modern day vampires are looking for me. Although these ones don’t glitter in the sunlight or stalk you at night, they DO have your phone number. I donate every few months to either the blood bank or to the Red Cross, but the blood bank is the only one who comes after you if they smell your platelet count ticking up. I don’t mind donating, and the experience is usually quite pleasant with the blood bank– I have had someone tighten my tourniquet too tight, causing me to almost pass out, and I’ve had a new phlebotomist miss the vein a couple times, but that has done little to influence my desire to donate. The calls, however… must stop! I’ve switched to the Red Cross for my donations to cut down on the annoyance. You’ve been warned– donate at your own risk!

I’ve been a frequent donor with SDBB for over a decade. I’ve also lived all over San Diego County and this is the best Blood Bank location! Wonderful and welcoming staff. Yummy after donation snacks and super clean waiting area.

As of this week I was long overdue on my donation for the red stuff. I had started a new job and had other life complications, but I felt it was time to get back on track.
I recently heard about this new donation center and we decided to drop in and see the new location.
Here is the scoop: It is a really nice place. Very new and the equipment is the latest technology. If you want to donate platelets or red cells the machines are very new and the people are good at extracting the red with no pain and a good sense of humor.
After a fairly short time and some nice orange juice and snacks I was on my way. In case it takes a little longer, they have a computer with Internet access and a fresh supply of recent magazines!
