I was walking by with a dog, and the owner Tanya commented on the dog. She was very nice, so I asked her how much would it be for bangs. The price was $ 10. That’s a great deal. When I returned sans dog, Tanya was ready for me. I’m very happy with my bangs. While cutting she went conservative, then asked if I wanted them shorter. She didn’t assume any length, and was very careful to make sure I was happy. Tanya is well aware of trendy hairstyles, and classic looks to frame the face correctly. There is free 30 minute parking across the street, which is a huge bonus for downtown.

Short story: avoid this salon. Overpriced and failed to deliver. Ignoring how overpriced it is, the keratin straightening I had simply failed to work at all(completely gone after the first wash of my hair). Follow up appointment resulted in no admission that the straightening didn’t work, and ended in me being sold some hair styling gel. I’m a pretty easy going person, and give people a chance to correct mistakes. I was promised relaxed hair, then after I paid for it that promise was retracted. Very dishonest. No attempt to fix the problem. No admission of a problem! I wish I could have the several hundreds of $, and hours of my life, back.

When I first moved here years ago, I needed to find a new salon. I left this place crying. My hair isn’t hard to cut. It’s straight, a few layers here and there with bangs. Don’t go here. Ever.

I went there last two times. The people are very nice and friendly. It is a little bit expensive– 45 $ per man’s haircut.

There was a time when I hated to get my hair cut. In fact, I would rebel against the process by forgoing it altogether. I would grab the scissors and trim a little as needed. When this failed, and it really didn’t take long, I decided I needed to find a good place to get my haircut. Don’t get me wrong — there are a lot of places to go – but none quite as solid as Salon Identity. Tanya is a brilliant hair expert. She is the owner of the business, which is in an adorable little spot tucked behind Basic Pizza. She advises me on my hair comings and goings, and is particularly adept at managing the situation which is the un-managable hair near the back of my head and neck. She’s gooooood. Sure, there are some more inexpensive places you can go, but for you gentlemen out there who want a consistent, professional haircut, Tanya is your girl. It is worth it to go to her.

When I first moved to San Diego from Knoxville roughly six months ago, I was a hot frizzy mess. Good Lord, I am embarrassed to tell you about the state my eyebrows & my hair were in after a sticky, humid summer spent packing up all of my belongings into a tiny car with an angry feline & traversing the country NOTONCEBUTTWICE. Needless to say, it was really quite nice of the beautiful girls at Salon Identity not to run away screaming when I crawled in off of the streets looking for a wax. Badri & Tanya are such fun, cool girls. I trust them instinctively; their opinions have never led me astray. Every time I have left their fine establishment, I have gotten nothing less than a barrage of compliments. Badri is so precise, it’s ridiculous. When she cuts my hair, it somehow manages to look not only healthier but LONGER! HOWDOESSHEDOTHAT?!? Happily, I can also recommend the coloring services. Though she looked at me as if I had sprouted a third nipple on my forehead when I explained I’d been dyeing my own hair for years, Badri took the time to gently guide my poor, split-end infested soul to making a better decision that has inevitably only led to better hair days henceforth. I see people underneath me complaining about prices. That’s just plain silly. I have been to salons before where I barely escaped with two eyebrows. Stop whining. FIVESTARS for also being right across the street from my apartment! HIPHIP!

Trendy salon downtown, but you pay for it! I had a coupon for a half price mani or pedi. Without the coupon it would have been $ 65, which the coupon it was $ 47.50. NOTWORTHIT. Way overpriced. And that isn’t even for a spa chair. She did spend a long time on me but it was more because she was slow than because of a spa experience. Its not very peaceful and zen like, the ladies who work there are always chatting to each other. I would recommend this place if you have a coupon and want to feel upidty for day, but don’t waste your money. Go to a normal nail salon on the corner. Cheaper and better service.

I LOVE Monica Long!!! Monica’s been coloring my hair for the last 7 years now and cutting my hair for the last 3. She always listens to my suggestions and gives me her honest opinion on what would look best. She is great if you want to try something drastic and and great if you want to keep it simple… She’s hands down the best colorist I’ve been to. I will keep follow her wherever she goes! The best part is that she is one of the nicest stylists you will work with…

my review is kinda late my friend and I came here the day before my birthday to pamper overselves. If I remember correctly the deal was you get a free manicure for every pedicure so it wasn’t bad. Then I also needed a haircut so I said«Why not? let’s throw that in as well.» The place was alright. I actually haven’t gone back since then for no particular reason.

I have been getting my haircut there for more than two years and I love it. I go to Tanya, the owner, and she really knows what she is doing. She is friendly, professional and always does a great job! # TIMESVISITED: 36

DONOTGOTOTHISPLACEFORWAXINGSERVICE!!! I’ve had my eyebrows wax numerous times(more than I can remember) and yes the normal redness occurs from waxing which goes away after an hour or so. Well — not this time! I recently had my brows wax at Salon Idenity and had the worst experience. I went back to the Salon 1 hr after I had my brows waxed because it felt like I’ve been burnt. The esthetician told me that it was natural to have the sensitivity especially with the wax(natural ingredients) that she used as it was my first time. She advised that the redness would go away in about 1 — 2 days and to apply Aloe(which I did and even brought it with me to work). Day 1 –certainly looks like I was burnt(continued to apply Aloe), Day 2 — looks the same, Day 3 — I went back to the Salon and the esthetician and manager checks the area where I was obviously burnt. The manager decided to take photos of the burnt area and said she would submit the photos to their wax supplier. Not once did I hear either the esthetician or the manager say«I’m sorry» for this or offered to refund my money or offered some remedy. As you can imagine I was pretty upset at this point not to mention that I had to go to work looking awfully burnt. I would have been more than happy to hear(especially from the manager) that they were sorry this happened… I have 2 friends that were clients of SI and no longer after this experience…

So I’ve seen this place multiple times, when going to Mondo Gelato or strolling around East Village. After examining their website, which provides all their services and how much these services cost, and seeing that they had some special ‘sizzlin summer specials’ my friend and I decided to come here. Buy a pedicure, get a free manicure. Seriously manicurist must hate me. Stacy the manicurist must have told me to relax my hand about 6 times, and told me to relax my legs/feet twice. She told me it was okay, my friend also had to mention my feet were ticklish. I guess not so much. But she was very attentive and told me how some people actually kicked her.(what the heck?) At $ 35/person, it was a deal. If it wasn’t a 2for1 deal it would have been $ 70/person. Perks: They have their own parking, Mondo Gelato is right across the street and Basic is right next door. I’m not made of money so this place is for special occasions only. or when I finally get a job. I will return. Someday.

I liked this place with the friendly, competent staff. but the pricing is a little… outrageous for the quality. the boy and i went here for much-needed eyebrow clean-ups. i needed mine re-shaped and he needed to turn one brow into two distinct ones. while my boyfriend’s brows came out perfect, i still had a lot left to pluck out only two days later. and at this length, they could have been taken care of at the salon. i even told her that i didn’t pack a plucker with me, so yes, please clean up the strays. oh well. i think i’ll stick to getting my primping done closer to home.
