Bacon, Gods most precious gift to man. It goes with anything and I do mean anything. One bite allows one to go unconscious as you are encountered by Saint Michael who gently caress you and then you yell thunder THUNDERTHUNDERCATSHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! right when you wake up. This is because it has that much holy power associated with it. This is exactly how you will feel when you come to S&M. Great staff and service. The food… well. we all know meat is what Carnivores such as Cats and Gods eat thus why they are such badasses unlike those stupid whimpy ass vegans who try to feed tofu to lions, cry when a tree falls down and eat grass. And try to force their silly ways onto others, when in reality they are dying inside for some holy goodness aka meat. Thus when you come to S&M expect to have your badass/asshole levels reach epic proportions and also gain some mighty powers as well I had the bacon flight and the Venison meatball sandwich. One bite of that amazing thing, and instantly time slowed down, Barry white came on in the background and I orgasmed 8 times, as I squeeeled with delight and then yelled THUNDERCATSHOOOOOOOOOO!!! Then I came in rivers. The bacon flight combined with that sandwich… well it was a double experience. Like two gorgeous lesbian midgets having sex in my mouth. It made me slap my head, and give out a yell, as I absorbed the power of those mighty beasts into my body and Princes of the Universe played in the background after Barry White was done, much like a scene in Highlander. Go here if you want to have a truly religious and holy experience with God, Shiva the God of destruction and creation, and mother Kali. It is here where true evil(vegans) dare not tread their hippie ways and true badasses aka Cats can congregate.

I had been wanting to try this place ever since I had heard it was opening. I got the opportunity last night and boy did it deliver! The service was excellent, the food was amazing, and the portions were perfect. You left not feeling over stuffed. I had the the Sweet and Hot Hawaiian signature sausage on a bun. The onions were cooked perfectly, the sauce complimented the sweetness of the sausage and the cotija cheese added just enough saltiness to balance the sandwich. Over all a fantastic experience and I can’t wait to go back!

After several visits, S&M continues to be one of our favorite brunch spots in the University Heights area. Their service model has changed since they opened. Now you start your visit by ordering near the entrance, and taking a number with you to wherever you choose to sit. Coffee and water are self service. This is similar to some of the other spots in the area. It helps servers focus on what guests really want, and reduces servers wandering through the restaurant asking people«if they want anything else.» The number they give you can be flipped for a few different options: * Welcome(a server comes to you, and explains how ordering at S&M works) * Service(I want to order something) * Scram(you’re enjoying your meal/drink/company) * Check(you’re ready to pay) PROPS: Quality of the food is consistently good. Menu options are unique, and S&M adds variety to the neighborhood. SLOPS: Making me get my own water and coffee feels lazy. It’s just one of the bits of flavor for this location.

I love the pretzel balls and marinara sauce but the actual meats upset my stomach pretty bad like reallllly bad idk if I got a bad batch or what but I more than likely will stay away. The service was good though very pleasant people.:)

I tried their sausages for the 1st time at the Unilocal Spring Break welcome event downtown. They were legit as all the reviews attest. We just did takeout for the Italian BLT and they sure don’t skimp on basil, fresh mozzarella, tomato or bacon. It was pretty good. I did feel the focaccia had a bit too much rosemary for my liking. Also it got a little wet on the ride home(from the fresh mozz I presume). Will definitely return to try some of the other menu items and this time eat there! Also got a 1lb of parmesan pepper bacon for $ 10…it’s pretty good but you have to cook it on lower heat because the cheese burns. They get extra points for participating in the Passport Dining program!

Well now I know why this place is rated so highly. Had this place marked down on my «to try» list for awhile, and made it in last night for dinner as I was in the area. The guy at the counter wasn’t helpful in narrowing down my dinner choices, so I randomly picked the pork belly sandwich for $ 9.50. I was not disappointed as it was really, really good. But I am wondering if I didn’t pick the right item, so I can’t wait to go back. I sat at the bar and chatted with the lovely and beautiful Laura B. where we talked whiskeys and bourbons while I drank a $ 7 Coronado Brewery Sock Knocker. Laura’s the perfect bartender and is definitely responsible for putting S&M in the 5* territory. Finished my meal with a complimentary caramel square with the Unilocal check-in, which was a nice treat. Will be back as soon as I’m back in town.

I love absolutely everything about this place from the creative menu and cocktails, beautiful outdoor seating and impeccable service. I went to S&M last week with Becca and I can’t wait to go back! I had one of the best gin drinks with cucumber and ground pepper — sounds different but sooo delish! We started off with a flight of bacon — yes, I said BACONFLIGHT! Each slice was distinctively different and flavorful. I think my favorites were the BBQ and Parmesan Rosemary. We also enjoyed the Sprouts & Swine(perfect brussel sprouts and bacon) and the Crispy Gnocci which I’ve never had anything like. Because we checked in on Unilocal we got our complimentary Caramel Bacon Chews which were yummy. A perfect sweet bite to end a savory meal. Great food is easier to find than decent service and I can tell you I was very impressed with the guys at S&M. They have cool cards you flip over when you need something(similar to Brazilian Steakhouses) which is useful. We sat outside and the bartenders seem to take those tables and take care of their guests as a team. They were very knowledgeable and friendly. This is a must visit while in SD.

SPRINGBREAK2016… See 21 photos below… Took my son on vacation to San Diego the week before Easter for his Spring Break from High School. Prior to leaving Las Vegas, I inquired with my local CM Community Manager who once reside in this neighborhood for some dinner recommendations, and he said I should go to an S&M bar. I thought to myself, my son is 6 years too young to take him to a bar, and the S&M part is kinda outta line pal. He then further explained it was S&M Sausage & Meat, and after reading his well written review and liking his great photos, I added S&M to my San Diego bookmarks. On Wednesday 3⁄23rd around 9pm, my teen son and I came here for dinner after an exhausting and very fun day at SeaWorld. *Convenient parking directly out front! **Sidewalk w/heatlamps?, we chose indoors! ***Swine bar to the left, nope! ****Cased Sausage 4 $ale next to hostess stand where we were greeted by Alexis & Misa, a tag team of friendly & attentive servers who brought us up a few stairs to our long table, #31 Welcome! Burning candles on all the dining tables was a simple yet noticeable touch of ambiance. The sausage steps part of the menu was explained to us and because this was our 1st time here, we were offered a couple of complimentary pieces of bacon to start. Of the 7 bacon flavors offered, we chose Hickory and they tasted savory good! Nicolas Cage custom wall art was questioned immediately, and was told the owner is a big fan of the actor. Went to wash my hands in the restroom, and the walls were adorned w/blueprints of this place from a year & a half ago when they opened. Flipped the #31 to Service, Misa came over and we ordered a variety of foods to sample, which were all served on hot skillets & wood chop blocks.(see many photos below) Soft Pretzel Bites($ 6) These were really good! House-made marinara, parmesan cheese, S&M IPA mustard aioli. Fried Pig Ears($ 6) served w/Tso sauce. This was a 1st for me, and my son refused to try. Ordering this was more for the novelty wow factor, than culinary desire. Not something I would order again. Venison Meatballs($ 9) Served w/house-made marinara, and made w/ricotta and basil. I enjoy deer hunting and the aftermath, the unique taste of Venison. These meatballs were pretty good! Fuhgetaboutit($ 9) Pizza sausage w/sliced pepperoni, house-made marinara, parmesan cheese, basil served in a bun. My son did not like this very much aka Fuhgetaboutit, pun intended! Sausage Board($ 16) Pick any 2 sausages. I chose Wild Boar & Alligator. Served w/pickled red onion, kraut, pickles, etc. Both of these selected Andouille sausages tasted tangy & I wanted more. So I flipped my #31 Scram sign to #31 Service, and Alexis came over to unfortunately tell me they were closing soon and there was no time to cook more sausage, so we ordered 4 spoonfuls of Caramel Bacon Chews @ .75 cents each. Definitely a unique dessert and nice end to our S&M dining experience. Misa came quickly when the #31 was on Check! I paid the bill, of course tipped them well, and even bought an S&M t-shirt that has turned quite a few heads here in Las Vegas since our return from Spring Break vacation in San Diego. S&M has interesting dishes and is very much intended for the meat lover. I went here with a group of friends this past weekend because I had purchased the Groupon and wanted to see what this place was all about. The restaurant is dimly lit and their service style is something I really enjoyed — having the ability to say when you are ready to order or just want to be left alone creates a more relaxed and less anxious atmosphere. BUT let’s get to what’s most important. the food and drinks! I got the Flip Flip Flipadelphia cocktail, and if you are a coffee lover and don’t mind an occasional spiked coffee. this drink is for you. I think out of the others that my friends got(The Old Fashioned and So Fuego Right Now), the Flip Flip Flipadelphia was my favorite. There were 4 of us so we chose to order the Head to Tail meat platter. It was a crapton of meat. Pig ears, chicharones, pulled pork, and porcetta plus some pickled items. This plate was a decent size, although I was with two men that can eat quite a bit — so I’d say that this platter is better for 3 and maybe not enough for 4 depending on your appetite. They were supposed to bring out sourdough bread with the platter, but unfortunately forgot it. The server was very nice and made up for it later by bringing out a complimentary bread pudding. It was delicious! I think this place is a wonderful addition to the University Heights/Hillcrest area. Probably also a good place to go if you’re on a Paleo diet and looking for that brotein. Great service, yummy cocktails, and tasty dishes. another awesome dinner for the books!

When I was looking through restaurants that could easily host large groups for my birthday dinner, I came across S&M and I knew I had to go there. «Of course you’d pick that restaurant…» my friends sighed. What can I say? Putting good food in and around my mouth is my fetish. I called ahead to reserve, and they were very accommodating. I really enjoyed the interior of the restaurant. Our table was in front of the Nick Cage wall, which everyone in the party found deeply amusing. It looks like normally people can order up front and go wait at a table, but since we were all seated already, someone just came to take our orders. They have a card system that you can flip if you need service or to be left alone. In theory it’s smart, but it didn’t end up working too well because the place was so busy. I had one vegetarian friend who came, and I was kind of worried that a place named SAUSAGE&MEAT wouldn’t have many options for him. But they did! They have vegetarian sausage, and he said it tasted really good. SOFTPRETZELBITES($ 6): Such soft, pillowy pretzel bites! Served with marinara and mustard aioli. ~ 4⁄5 BACON(2 for $ 3): I tried the honey sriracha and garlic rosemary Parmesan. Both were chewy, thick, and excellently flavored. ~ 4⁄5 BRAISEDPORKCHEEK($ 15): My entrée, served on a bed of Gorgonzola grits. The pork cheeks were impossibly tender. It’s served with three pieces of pork cheek. ~ 5⁄5 CARAMELBACONCHEWS(one free w/Yelp check in): Piece of chewy hard candy that is good to end the meal with. «CHURRO» CHICHARONE($ 7): The staff offered me a free birthday dessert, and I thought it would be a scoop of ice cream or something, but they gave me a huge serving of THIS! It’s pork rinds topped with sugar, cinnamon, and Nutella. That sounds gross, but it’s actually delicious and inventive. ~ 5⁄5 This was an overall excellent experience for me. The service was top notch, the food was executed well, and being serenaded by everyone in the dining area is always fun. I wish I lived here to I could come back for half off sausages on Meat Mondays! Food: 5, Service: 5, Environment: 5, Price: 3

I’ve been dying to try this place for the last 3 months, and even offered to pay my friends meal to drag then out there. It was so disappointing 1. The ambience is nice… hipster cool i. e rustic and looks like a great place to have a beer and bullshit around for a few hours. Think of new version of Blind Lady Ale House but with worse beer and worse food for double the price. 2. The food is WAY overpriced. — I had the Sausage board for $ 16. This is the biggest rip off as you get only TWO small bite sized sausages and some pickled cabbage. We got the Bison and alligator and they were nothing special. — Next I had the Lamb Poutine for $ 15. Small pieces of shredded lamb, and you couldn’t even tell it was lamb. So basically you paid $ 15 for French fries… it was pretty good, but like $ 8 good. 3. $ 23 for a «bottle» of wine. This is very misleading as it’s only a small half bottle that serves 2 people. If you’re going to say a bottle of wine, then tell us up front that it’s a half bottle. So $ 46 for a REAL bottle of wine that looked like Blue Foot with a screw top… complete waste of money. Overall, it gets 2 stars instead of 1 because it look like a cool place and the food isn’t horrible but it tastes like any other place… but for double the price. The concept of the place was good, but the execution was poor. If small, unsatisfying, expensive food is your thing… then welcome to your mecca.

You like sausage? Me too! I am a regular at S&M and I recommend going there on Meat Mondays because they offer half off for sausages! I normally get the sauage board and you get to choose 2 types of meat out of around 10 of them. My personal favorites are PINEAPPLEPORTUGUESE and LAMBMERGUEZ. You get both sweet and savory flavors. As far as drinks go, I don’t like their cocktails so much so I normally go with a beer. I wish they have better selections of whiskeys and wine. And to tell you the truth, the rest of the stuff on the menu was mediocre Parking is usually easy, because the restaurant is on the not too crazy size in Hillcrest on Park Blvd.

After being open for a while, this place has totally hit its stride! The sides are on point. My favorites are the sprouts and swine, bacon fat deviled eggs, and the broccolini. All the sausages we’ve tried have been awesome. The pulled pork tacos are great, too. We come here for a quick dinner for two, but we’ve also brought our parents for a longer meal with cocktails and dessert– and they loved it!

Meat lover’s rejoice. There is a place on Park Boulevard that will raise your cholesterol levels to new heights. The place is called S&M Sausage & Meat. A eatery that is serious about their food and drink but in a casual fun setting with all of the dishes being meat inspired. The place has outdoor dining, a full service bar, dining facing the street and family style table dining in a upper room. Again the setting is very casual. Fun? They have a wall dedicated to Nicolas Cage. If a wall dedicated to the guy who played Johnny Blaze and Damon Macready isn’t fun. Then you don’t know fun. The menu consists of pork, chicken, lamb and beef. They also serve other more exotic meats– venison, boar, alligator and bison. Their bacon is fantastic. Best I have eaten in town. They do meat right. Another thing they do right is cocktails and beer. A nice variety of microbrews and original flavorful mixed drinks. A selling point for my wife is the alcohol menu. She gave it two thumbs up. They also have an oversized Help Yourself water container. When are thirsty for just H2O. We had among other things the breakfast sandwich. An egg Mcmuffin on steroids, again the bacon is amazing. An appetizer named Show Me Your Tots– tater tots, peanut butter and jelly and more bacon is just delightful. Why would anyone eat tater tots any other way again? Lastly a pork belly sandwich full of rich pork belly chunks with pickled slaw on top. I was in hog heaven. Pun intended. Overall a great meal. Good service. They have table cards at your table to let your server know where you are in your meal. If your ready to order, if you want to pay your bill or if you just want to be left alone. They have a card for that. The price to pay is moderate and won’t break the bank. Just a great place to dine. Come here to fulfill your meat fantasies.

I’ve been here now a couple of times and each time it has not dissapointed. Came here last for restaurant weeks final day and wanted to just have a tasty lunch. Had the rosemary parmesean bacon, venison meatballs and the Korean beef sandwich. All of which were delicious! My friend had the Pork Belly sandwich and I was beyond jealous! Had the Brussel sprouts salad with dried blueberries and a mustard vinaigrette had me stealing bites when I could and the venison meatballs have me wanting the venison lasagna next time! The service is always friends and the bartender was beyond courteous. Was interested in a house inspired bacon fat moonshine made locally, what a kick but still very smooth. He makes a drink with it, basil and other items and sadly did not order it. Will when I go back. Community style tables inside and smaller ones out french almost like park table have it feeling cozy an inviting. Like your corner spot and it pretty much is. So great food, great customer service, great environment is a recipe for repeat business and loyal customers. A must to do with S&M is follow them on Facebook for the work of the day. FREE bacon! The gift of swine. What better gift?

This place definitely has a unique taste. We decided to check this place out since we had the Groupon for $ 25 worth of food. Since it was our first time here, we walked in and didn’t rally know what to do at the counter. This guy comes up to us and seats us immediately. Another person came by and explained to us how their number cards work: You can flip the number cards to what you need – «Service» if you need something, «Scram» if you don’t need anything, and«Check» if you’re ready to pay. I thought it was a genius way to let them know if you needed help. We ordered the Pineapple Portuguese($ 8) and the Bison Chipotle($ 8), both in a bun and with all the toppings(peppers, caramelized onions, relish, and sauerkraut). That only took up about $ 16 of the $ 25 we needed to spend, so we also ordered their #Hashtag Fries($ 3.50) and a couple glasses of Coke($ 3 each). The fries came out pretty quickly, so it was something to nibble on while we waited for our sausages, which do take a while to come out. The fries came with this spicy ketchup, which adds a little kick to it. They give it to you while it’s still sizzling from the oil so it’s super hot. We ordered a small size, but it was definitely enough to feed both of us; I can’t imagine how big the large size is. The Pineapple Portuguese is a little more on the sweeter side. The Bison Chipotle I think was my favorite one out of the three I’ve tried(the third one I took to go). It’s a little messy to eat since everything kept slipping out of the buns so I had to basically take a bite of the sausage, then scoop up bits of all the toppings then put them into my mouth. I really liked having all the toppings. The sauerkraut wasn’t even so vinegar-y that it was too sour, so it really just tasted like a normal pickled cabbage. I also really liked eating all the sausages with the dijon mustard that they have on each of the tables. If you check in on Unilocal, they also give a Caramel Chew. Since we came in during brunch hours and the item wasn’t on the menu, we asked if they could still do it and they said that it was fine. It’s really only 2 squares of soft chewy caramel with bacon bits inside it sitting on 2 spoons. It’s small, but it was delicious. It wasn’t so sticky that they really stuck to our teeth, but it wasn’t unbearably hard to chew either. Since they have such a unique selection of meat, I ordered an Alligator Andouille to take home. This meat I think is a little bit tougher than the others to bite through and a little bit spicier. It tasted a little bit like spicy turkey. Their sausages still taste just as good at home as they did when we dined-in. Everyone was super friendly and patient, especially since it was our first time here. They were willing to answer any and all the questions we had, and didn’t make it seem like we were wasting their time or anything. This place also has a sense of humor because in the back section, they have a wall dedicated to recreations of famous posters and artwork with faces of Nicholas Cage. We definitely got a good laugh out of that. The only thing is that I kind of wish was that the sausages were either bigger, or they had more toppings to add to it, considering how much I was paying. However, the meats are definitely unique and it’s something that everyone should try for the experience.

I have to say, I had some high expectations for this place and for the most part met all of my expectations. My husband and I split 3 sausages, pig ears, rosemary garlic bacon, and dark chocolate bacon. I ordered my son a wagyu sausage made corn dog bite style and he loved them. I ordered the chipotle bison, alligator andouille, and pineapple Portuguese sausage. All of them were fantastic but my favorite was the chipotle bison. The pig ears were surprisingly good. Some pieces were very chewy so I liked the pieces that were thinner. I was not a fan of the garlic rosemary bacon but my husband and son loved it. The dark chocolate bacon was very good. I was not disappointed with any part of my order. Service was whole other experience. I ordered a diet coke and there was no carbination. Apparently it was too busy so they could not fix it and took it off my bill. The manager who served us part of the time was awful. He took a drink order during happy hour along with the free piece of bacon that comes with it and then a half hour later we asked about it since the drink and bacon never came. He said he would bring it over and he did a little while later. Unfortunately he forgot to put it in the computer during happy hour and they tried charging us full price for the drink as well as the bacon. We had to fight with another server to make it right. Our server was fine, but the manager that night was awful. This is the reason I will not rate this restaurant 5 stars.

I’d been wanting to check this place out for months. We came in on Sunday at 3, and had no parking or wait issues. Of course, trying bacon was first on our list. The honey sriracha was good, however just slightly overcooked. The brown sugar bacon was cooked just right and was a notch better. I had the some like it hot version of the bison chipotle sausage. The grilled peppers, onions, and pepper jack cheese went well with the meat. The hash tag fries were OK, but the bacon and spicy ketchup made them even better. The pulled pork tacos came out a bit later, as they initially ran out of tortillas. I wasn’t a big fan of the slaw because it was mayo based, however the pineapple chipotle BBQ sauce and pork were very tasty. With so many good choices, I’ll definitely be back to try some of their other offerings. With bacon as your headliner, it’s tough to go wrong.

I came here for brunch with my friends on Saturday and they were pretty busy. There isn’t that much parking in this area so we circled around a few times before finding parking. You order at the counter, pay, take a number and then find a seat. They keep your tab open if you want to order any more items which I thought was strange. I really like the decoration of this restaurant but I didn’t like the food very much at all. My pancakes came out pretty quickly, within 5 min and that was the only food that came out. The pancakes were probably my most favorite dish but even those were kind of dry after awhile. The sausage that I ordered came as an actual hot dog, where as I was expecting a single sausage. My friends biscuit cornrbread took way too long to come, and apparently they had mixed up the order with someone else. So she changed her order to some egg scramble with ricotta cheese. Both items were mediocre. The biscuit corbread had a jalapeño gravy sauce which I did not really like at all. My friends egg Benedict with broccolini and sausage was very nice to look at, but so hard to eat. The eggs Benedict was so discombobulated since the items were stacked onto each other and all of different textures. I will probably come here again to check out the dinner menu if I have a Groupon, but I wouldn’t come here again without the food was not appealing to my sense of taste at all. It was all too sweet, even the foods that I would have enjoyed had they been savory.

A co-worker of mine was raving about this place, so I was happy to see a Groupon for it. Made it out there for brunch on a Sunday(which is 8am-2pm I believe). Btw, the website says you get a free breakfast shot if you come with«Sex Alert Hair». Hahaha. We sat at the bar(forgot the bartender’s name, but he was a blond-haired sweetheart) and started out with Bloody Marys. Came with a skewer of… bacon, egg(quail egg, good) and cheese(cheese curd). Great breakfast drink and did not taste watered down at all. Really good and I’d definitely get it again. FOOD: BREAKFASTPOUTINE: Tots with eggs, onions, gravy and cheese curds. Heaven… and not to mention huge! KIMCHI –LAQUILES: Made with fried wontons instead of tortilla, more like kimchi flavored with bits of chorizo too. Really good but after while the kimchi taste was too repetitive… maybe just a good dish to share. «BISCUITS» &GRAVY — Definitely the belle of the ball! The bartender said they had run out, but went in the back to check and found out there was one more dish left of this that day. Lucky us! This was my favorite dish we got! The«biscuits» were more like jalapeño bread topped with sausage gravy, eggs and carmelized onions. Really big portion and oh so worth it! CARAMELBACONCHEWS — Checked in on Unilocal to get hooked up with a free one. Interestingly served on a spoon, but once we tried it, it was sooo divine. Utter toffee-caramel-crunchy-bacon goodness. Seating is quite ample here, though parking is not. Parking is mostly out on the street, so you may have to drive around the blocks a bit.
