They’ve got really good vanilla ice cream. They’re steak is really good and so is their seafood. I had their Crab stuffed mushrooms and they were really YUMMY. Try dipping their bread in the crab stuffing, it’s the best! Their Cesar salad croutons are so well seasoned they give you the illusion of crispy chicken bits. Lol, overall service is is great, laid back atmosphere & good food!

Our children took us out for dinner to celebrate my husband’s birthday. They invited their Grandparents to join us too. We arrived and the first thing that caught our eye was our birthday confetti on our table and I wish I had a picture of my husband’s face when he opened his menu and it read«Happy Birthday Joseph« Our kids told us to get the special item on the menu — it gives you a Starter; Soup or a choice of 3 salads. Main Course; Steak(Rib Eye, etc.) A Side Dish; creamed Spinach(out of this world … Even those who dislike Spinach would love this dish) Mac n Cheese or mashed potatoes. All delicious … We ordered several and shared. Chocolate cheesecake and chocolate Bark was the finishing touch that made this meal UNFORGETTABLE. THANKYOU to our Server Liz and her helper Jesus(who does the heavy lifting for her) Liz has been at this location for 4 years — with the company for 10 years. Jesus has been with the restaurant for 12 years. What a great evening. Can’t wait to tell our friends and family and return in the near future. Party — Fay /Lovejoy January 2016

My absolute favorite Steakhouse in San Diego! I come here quite often especially during restaurant week. The ambiance is perfect with booth seating and amazing view of the harbor. I last came here for restaurant week and had reservations. We were sat right away and right away, service was impeccable. I ordered off the restaurant wok menu of course and chose the $ 50 menu. I got the seared ahi as appetizer, the ribeye for my entrée, the mashed potatoes for my side and the chocolate sin cake for dessert. let me tell you, the steak was AMAZING and just melts in your mouth. I love mine medium rare and they always seem to cook it PERFECTLY. Even as leftovers its still red(bloody) and good! I also love their complementary bread and butter. Im a huge fan of bread haha. I can’t express it enough of how delicious the food is and how great the service is.

It is official — Ruth’s Chris downtown has become the newest Black Angus to join the neighborhood. Where to begin… First, we had a 7pm reservation and weren’t seated until 720pm. Second, in terms of service, we had the slowest and most unfriendly service I’ve ever experienced there. It took over 1.5 hours to get our steaks. Our head server was unattentive and disinterested at best and the food runners/bus boys all copped an attitude everytime they came by the table. For example, I had to get up and go track down another server just to pay my bill. I also had to get up mid meal to go find a manager to complain. Management seemed only mildy interested in our dissatisfaction but did comp one of the steaks. As for the food, we had to send back our cold, skimpy plate of Calamari(after the bus boy slammed the plate on the table and stormed off). They delivered the steaks to the table in the wrong order which we discovered after a few bites and had to manually switch ourselves. My steak was overcooked to a degree that you would expect at Sizzler, not Ruth’s Chris. The au gratin potatoes were severely undercooked which rendered them inedible. Lastly, the caramel cheesecake dessert was unimpressive and generic. We all took only a few bites. The lobster bisque and sweet potatoes were delicious. Overall, an utter dissapointment from the ambience to the service to the food. Did I mention they they oversold the reservations and packed us into a corner table like cattle? I disgress… Long story short, this place has lost its touch and we shan’t be returning.

My husband & I came here for our 6 year anniversary. Conveniently we stayed next door at the Wyndham Bayside so all we had to do was go down and cross the lobby. When I made my reservation I had told them it was our anniversary. We were both surprised that they made a custom menu greeting us of our special occasion and every staff that stopped by our table, greeted us as well. It being our first time, our server went through everything on the menu and even suggested his favorites which made it easier to choose what we wanted. Me & my husband have a tendency of having hungry eyes at new places, and this is one place you don’t want to have that at. It is pretty pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for. Their steaks are AMAZING! We got the Ruth’s classics where you can choose a complete meal: starter(soup or salad), entrée(steak, lobster, chicken, etc), sides(the portion is huge, so I would recommend getting something different from your date & share), and finally a delicious dessert! Their Spicy lobster appetizer is to die for! Highly recommend for special occasions… or if you just feel like dining fancy ;)

Date night at Ruth’s Chris for Restaurant Week! You can say we definitely got our money’s worth. The drinks, food, customer service(Jason), & views were all phenomenal! Complimentary bread. $ 503 course meal Seared Ahi Tuna — Melts in your mouth goodness. 8 oz. filet — Absolutely heavenly! Filet is so tender, so juicy, so flavorful. The blue cheese is the icing to the cake! + $ 5 Blue cheese crust Creamed spinach — Good! Raspberry Sorbet — Great pairing with the Cheesecake. Mushrooms Stuffed with Crabmeat — I am typically not a fan of mushrooms but oh my, these were very tasty! Crab meat was refreshing. 12 oz. Ribeye — Great! Mashed Potatoes — Good! Cheesecake with Chocolate Bark — The chocolate bark was yummy! We were stuffed! The portions were huge & we had leftovers. $ 8 for valet. My car was parked across the street & it irked me that the man who returned my car took the long way back to the restaurant. I saw him drive my car out of the parking lot then disappear on the road & come back 10 minutes later. It was annoying because he could have just crossed the street!

I’M INLOVEWITHYOURUTH’S CHRIS! MYNEWFAVORITERESTAURANTINTHEWHOLEWIDEWORLD! HOLYMEATBALLS! WOW~ WOAH~ I came here for the first time on Friday with my girlfriends for a girls’ night out and I was blown AWAY! Where did I go? you may ask, I went to HEAVEN! First things first,(I’m the realest) I made reservations for 7:30pm but for some reason they didn’t seat us down until 8pm… It’s okay. I can forgive. The past is the past. Valet parking is $ 8 and no, they do not cover it. There were five of us girls and we all ordered off the restaurant week menu. For $ 50 you get three courses. I paid an additional $ 19 for the wine pairing. 1st course: Mushrooms stuffed with crabmeat– DIVINE! SOOOOOOO damn good! I need to learn how to make this! 2nd course: 8 oz filet mignon– let me tell you, I’m more of a surf person rather than turf but this steak hit the SPOT! I am now a meat LOVER! Wow! Side Bae(I mean dish) — Creamed spinach… you don’t need anything else in the world. Make me DROOL! Dessert:Chocolate sin cake-only order if you’re into dark chocolate. Tastes like you’re eating a huge chunk of chocolate candy bar. Wines ordered: Pinot Noir– Meiomi, CA2013 and Cabernet Sauvignon, Robert Mondavi Napa, CA2013 Extra Deets: Service: A+++, I saw that for special occasions they take special souvenir photos for birthdays or anniversaries. Even though the place was super packed and our group wasn’t celebrating anything the server Benjamin went out of his way to find their camera to print us out a souvenir shot. Super nice! The place was crowded but the servers came to check on us plenty of times and we never had to ask twice for anything. Atmosphere: Good looking football players and athletes eating at the restaurant. MEOW! Amazing place to take a girl on a date*hint hint She will agree to be your WOMAN after you take her here!

This is my first time eating at this location and I’ve only been to the Del Mar one once before about a decade ago! We were celebrating our 3 ½ year anniversary and it happened to be restaurant week, so we took advantage of that option. They offer valet parking, but you can also park at the meters along the street if you don’t mind walking. The restaurant is located on the second floor, and you’ll need to check-in with the hostess towards the left side. We were seated at half a booth, but if it wasn’t so chilly, I would’ve liked to sit outside instead to enjoy the view of the harbor a little better. We received complimentary bread and butter as soon as we were seated. I already knew what I wanted, so he ordered a bottle of Moscato while he figured out what to get. For appetizers we shared the steak house salad and seared ahi tuna. We thought that the salad came with steak, so we were a little disappointed, but it was still good without any meat. The ahi tuna was very peppery and really tasty! I also enjoyed the cucumber salad it came with. For our entrees, I got the filet and shrimp with a side of mashed potatoes. He had the 12oz ribeye with a side of sauteed mushrooms. We usually share everything, but he was so happy to be able to eat his huge piece of meat rare with a lot of blue cheese on top! My filet was tender and juicy and cooked just the way I like it! The shrimp on top made for nice presentation too. I was so glad that the desserts were small because we were getting full. We chose the chocolate sin cake and the cheesecake with chocolate bark. The chocolate cake was very decadent and the cheesecake was yummy as well. Service was excellent! Nothing to complain about. I had a great time here and wouldn’t mind coming back to either location!

I had quite the experience on my last visit to Ruth’s Chris. Celebrating an 18th birthday for my cousin, we had 2 tables-an adult table, and another table for my cousin and her friends. We were 3 tables across from each other so it wasn’t as close as we would have liked, but that wasn’t a big issue for us. The kid’s table finished before our table, and they wanted to hang out at their table until the adults were finished. We had no problems at our table; our server was great and our food came out in a timely matter. However, the server for my cousin’s table told them: «Please pay now, there is another party with reservations waiting for this table.» So, my cousin dropped her bill off at our table and had to leave. Mind you, we had reservations and it was her birthday! She left without being sung to or without being able to share a dessert at her table since they were getting kicked out. Our table was able to speak with the manager who was simply in disbelief that one of his staff members would say such a thing, and blamed it on my cousin; that she probably just didn’t want to be there. He provided our table with free desserts which was nice, but unfortunate that the birthday girl couldn’t be there to enjoy it. Once we arrived home, we spoke with my cousin and she let us know his exact quote(stated above). We called back the manager who apologized sincerely. We were all disappointed with the service received that night. The food is pretty good, but the service isn’t up to par with what I would have expected from a steakhouse. Quick food favs: + Filet mignon: juicy and tender, melts in your mouth + mashed potatoes: hint of garlic, you can never go wrong + jalapeño corn: like creamed corn but better + apple tart: one of my fav desserts + Ruth’s coffee: the perfect amount of alcohol

My husband and I went here for our 10th anniversary in December 2014. We’d just left Altitude, headed back to our hotel, passed the restaurant and decided to stop in. It was a Sunday evening. They weren’t very busy and we were able to park on the street. The staff sat us quickly and our waitress was timely and professional. It was our first time there, so she walked us through the drinks and menu selections. She asked if we were there for any special occasion and we told her it was our anniversary. We had a couple of drinks. We each had a Caesar salad. I had the ribeye and my husband had the strip. Both were cooked to perfection and tasted delicious. We each got our own sides, which weren’t necessary, since one can be shared, but I wanted sweet potatoes and he wanted asparagus. By the end of our meal, our waitress brought us a cute little surprise! It was a very sweet gesture was so yummy! We will be returning in the near future!

Choosing Ruth Chris to celebrate my birthday is one of the best choices I’ve made! And I’m a good decision maker ;) When I called to make reservations for 10 the gentleman on the phone had great customer service, was very helpful and accommodating! The food was to die for, I’m a ribeye type of girl and it was deliciously tender and full of take accompanied by some honey bacon Brussels sprouts, it was a party of flavor for sure! The servers and waitress were very pleasant and polite! I even had my name printed on the menu«Happy 26th Birthday Kathleen» how you like them apples, yup they do that! Will definitely be going back soon!

Came with family this year for Thanksgiving. We made a reservation probably a week before and we got seated right away. This place is definitely more upscale. I personally felt out of place since we were the only«racially diverse» family. I felt like we got stared at a lot by other customers and some of the bust boys were kind of iffy toward us. But whatever. The waitress we had was very nice and very helpful, but I feel like we waited waaay too long for our food to arrive at our table. Our waitress agreed with us and of course apologized. It was just four of us in our party and a party of 3 got seated after us and got their food a lot sooner than we did. I really enjoy their steaks. The meat was nice and tender and had a lot of flavor. I really like that signature sizzle factor that the steaks have

My boyfriend and I came here for our one year anniversary. We had a reservation at 7pm and arrived early at 6:50pm. Since we did arrive early they said the table will be ready in a few minutes. This was no big deal. However, 10 minutes passed by and they were calling people who arrived ahead of us. Maybe they had an earlier reservation? 20 minutes and still nothing. I was getting impatient since what’s the point of making a reservation if you’re gonna make us wait a total of 35 minutes when we even arrived early. They finally called us and we were seated at this big booth overlooking the harbor. It was a nice view. The host also sprinkled rose petals on the table and gave us a menu that said«Happy One Year Anniversary». My boyfriend and I were so touched since it was personalized for the occasion. We both ordered from their Ruth’s Classic which comes with salad or soup, a side, entrée, and a dessert. All for $ 50. I think this is a better deal since the steak entrée itself already cost that much. The food came out great and my boyfriend and I enjoyed it here. The only problem is our server. He was nice but not as friendly. Maybe because we were a young couple, he didnt really try to make conversations with us. He made sure that we had everything though so it wasn’t a big issue. Overall it was a great experience. Minus half star for the wait and another half star for the service.

My husband and I went to Ruth’s Chris last Saturday for dinner. I was surprised it was very busy at 6:30PM because usually it is not busy and crowded for an early dinner time. Once we were seated, Jonathan was very helpful giving us complementary bread and filtered water right away. Our waiter, Luis, was busy and neglected us for 20 minutes only to ask us if we were ready to order and later on for dessert to ask me how was the bread pudding. Usually the waiters and waitresses are on point on their customer service, but not that evening. I was really disappointed with their new bread pudding recipe. There were no apples, raisins, and whiskey sauce. The new recipe was okay. The new sauces comes off to the side and not drenched all over the bread pudding. I think I’ll skip out on the bread pudding in my next visit.

This review is just for drinks in the bar area. My girlfriend and I came here for a quick drink before an event at the hotel next door. The restaurant is very beautiful inside, albeit a little stuffy feeling due to the patrons. We both had the Cucumber Basil Gimlet and this was the sweetest gimlet I have ever had. It was hard to finish and felt overpriced at $ 14 because of this. I also didn’t like how the restrooms were located downstairs and I felt they should have been decorated nicer due to the fact that they were connected to an extremely pricey steakhouse. I don’t know if I would come back for a drink, and I don’t normally order steaks at restaurants, so I don’t think I have a reason to be back.

Came here last night for my moms birthday and was VERY impressed! Not only was the customer service good, but the food was the most incredible texture I have ever had. My brother, mother and I went out to DTSD for my mothers birthday as we had reservations at Ruth’s Chris. We sat with an bayside view at the far end of the restaurant and were able to watch the sunset. It was glorious. We each ordered Ruth’s classic– a starter, main course, side dish and dessert. Dessert is already set up so we didn’t exactly order the dessert but there are no complaints about it because true strawberry shortcake was still delicious. I ordered the steak house salad as my starter, the filet mignon, well done, as my main course, and a side of mashed potatoes. My brother and mother, too ordered the same starter and main course as I, they got it medium well and my brother ordered corn as his side dish. Our waiters were Manuel and Peter. Manuel picked up our dishes and was consistent in making sure all of our drinking glasses were full. Peter was superb and knew the dishes well and made several suggestions to our likings. He took a photo of my mom brother and I and had it printed out and brought to my mom, the joy in her eyes made my heart flutter. I appreciated the service we discovered at this location and am truly thankful that Ruth’s Chris employees made my mothers birthday a happy memorable one. I look forward to experiencing the same type of customer service at the locations in Beverly Hills, Pasadena, Anaheim and maybe even some east coast ventures as well.

So I am hesitant with my review for this Ruth’s Chris location. I have been to many Ruth’s Chris in the past and love their steaks. I have been to this location twice. Once for happy hour and once for restaurant week dinner. My happy hour experience was great. We enjoyed our assortment of $ 8 drinks and appetizers and it totally hit the spot for happy hour. The food was good. We tried the Tenderloin Skewer Salad the Seared Ahi Tuna, and the Spicy Lobster. All were great. The steak skewers were marinated in a soy-honey marinade that made the meat tender and flavorful. The tuna was served with a spicy sauce that was good, but I will get it on the side next time so I can add the amount I want. The lobster was lightly battered and fried(similar to a tempura) and that was good. Not a lot of lobster, but what do you really expect. All in all a good experience and I would come back. For restaurant week we had a larger group and a dining room reservation. From the moment we sat down, I got the feeling that they didn’t want us there and we were bothering them. Sigh. I know, I know. Restaurant week cuts down on the bill and brings people in who wouldn’t normally be there(like the table who sat behind us ¾ of the way through our meal that was announcing loudly that they«don’t let my type in here.» and he is «too loud for these people.» Which he was, but if he just stopped announcing that loudly and knocking his chair up against everything that would definitely help… but i digress.) Our group tried the Filet and shrimp, the Lobster bisque, the Crab cakes, the Caesar salad and the Chocolate sin cake among other things that I did not try. I requested my steak medium rare and it came out medium well. Another one of my party did as well and had the same results, luckily for her there was another person who ordered theirs medium well, and she got her’s medium so they just switched. I didn’t have anyone to switch with, and by the time I got our waiter(or anyone’s attention) I had had enough. Everyone was done already, I just sent it back. They were good enough to have it taken off of our bill at least so that was very much appreciated. We had also been trying to order another round of drinks, but that took a long time too. I know they weren’t that busy. I could see them by the door of the kitchen, chillin’ The lobster bisque was good and so were the crab cakes. For San Diego, I still have my favorite place for those two items and they did not dethrone it(but I am always willing to try new contenders.) Will I come back for happy hour, probably. Will l suggest this place for restaurant week, no. Will i suggest it for a business dinner meeting, I will try to avoid it. Which is a shame, because I have always really liked their food.

Ruth’s Chris exceeded my expectations. I’ve heard nothing but praise for this spot &RW was the perfect opportunity to check it out. Valet is $ 8& is your best bet cause parking anywhere in Downtown on a Friday night is hell. You’ll have to walk up a flight of stairs and turn left to get to the check-in booth. Bathrooms are downstairs, FYI. They had 2 different menus priced at $ 40& $ 50. The $ 40 option had a 6 oz filet & shrimp as one of their entrée choices, choice of side(same as $ 50 menu), an app & dessert of course. I opted with the $ 50 menu, which meant a bigger cut of steak. Got my 12 oz Ribeye cooked medium. The steak is rubbed only with salt & pepper according to our waiter. It was perfect. Best steak I’ve had, hands down. I may have said that before, but disregard that. I’ve had great tasting steaks with a few gimmicks(See review on Kitchen 4140) to help the flavors, but the steak I had here was the best. Straight up meat, straight up delicious. I savored it as much as I can & finished every last inch of it, minus the few pieces of fat that was on the steak. Plates are super hot so be careful! I paired this steak with a Red Zinfandel for about $ 15/glass. Great pairing, the wine itself wasn’t too dry and helped boost the flavors of the steak. I had the creamy mashed potatoes as my side(as well as the mushrooms – very fresh, very big pieces). Not bad at all! I had the mushroom stuffed with crabmeat as my app & that too was delicious. The mushrooms were huge. Definitely shareable– came with about 4 pcs. Last but not least was the dessert. I chose the Chocolate Sin Cake(flour less). Delectable! It was plated with raspberry swirls & complimented each other very well! The cheesecake was good too, put them together & taste the magic that’s about to hit your tongue. Yumm! Raphael did an excellent job as our waiter. He seemed like a genuine guy in general, so thank you for making our experience a little better! If you didn’t get the hint by now, I really enjoyed this place. I recommend Ruth’s Chris if you’re craving a great steak, a little fancy shmancy dining(formal threads aren’t required, but if you want to play dress up, this is the steakhouse for you) & all around good time.

Going to a chain restaurant for Father’s Day was a pretty big risk for me, as eating at a chain restaurant in the eyes of a San Franciscan food snob is like getting 8hr-overcooked chewy taquitos from seven eleven with a side of half thawed hotdogs. But… in Unilocal I trust! Had a wonderful Father’s Day meal here. Got lucky and was seated by the window per my request. I didn’t think the service was THAT great, everything felt rather perfunctory. Fine. We arrived 15 minute earlier than our reservation and was told it’ll be a minute. Bs. No one updated us and we just stood there and ended up waiting til our reservation time anyway. Didn’t mind the wait but the hostess should’ve updated us so we can expect to wait 15 minutes. Little things. After being seated, we were first greeted by the bus /water gentleman. I totally thought he was our server. Shortly after our actual server came and gave us time to decide. Not much to explain I guess, but he wasn’t particularly helpful. Friendly, but distant. I was pleasantly surprised by the black napkins — glad they paid attention to my outfit and served the right colored napkin. Love that level of detail. For food we ordered. 1. 22oz cowboy ribeye — 5 stars. Perfectly cooked to medium rare. The fat wasn’t rendered perfectly but I happen to enjoy chunks of fat(don’t judge me) so I loved it. It was like eating picanha. 2. Ruth’s classic(3 courses with a side) with filet mignon — 4 stars because the appetizer steak salad was SO lame. It was like something you’d get at Olive Garden except it wasn’t unlimited. It’s literally just a spring salad mix out of a box with some croutons and raw onion slices. Dude. Almost insulting to the remainder courses, which were great. The filet mignon was also cooked perfectly medium rare. The creamed spinach was too watery for me but my dad liked it a lot so I was happy. We also got the sweet potato casserole side, which was omfg orgasmic — so much butter and sugar it’s hard to not like it. For dessert, we didn’t get to choose — the classic menu came with the white chocolate cheesecake, which was fine. We also got a complementary dessert for my dad’s birthday. I wish they had given us a different one to try. Another service related complaint I have is that they don’t wipe the table between courses. Typically at an upscale restaurant like this, the server will wipe the table between courses to remove crumbs and other spills, so I was pretty surprised when I was served my main and dessert with lots of bread crumbs and other messes(I’m a messy eater!!) on the table. Tldr: food is great, service is what you’d expect from a chain restaurant(uniform, fine, but not amazing). One ask to Ruth’s: clean the table between courses please!

Made a reservation for 2 people a couple of weeks before, for a Tuesday night. I was able to park right in front on a meter parking. Cost about $ 3(versus $ 8 plus tip for valet). score!!! So we got a table by the window, but because it was 5pm on a hot day and the sun was setting, we asked to move to another table by a wall instead of a window. The server was super accommodating and immediately switched us tables. The waiter and bus boy were really attentive the entire time and passed by our table often, but not too much. So for food, heres the yummy part of the review! I chose one of Ruth’s classic options. $ 55 for one starter, one entrée(I picked the 12 Oz rib eye steak), one side, and dessert. I asked for garlic chunks on top of my steak and there was no hassle about it, the waiter just laughed at me. I then had to explain my love for garlic :) So let me say this, the price is TOTALLY worth it! The steak was delicious! For my side I chose garlic mashed potatoes and those were delicious as well. Oh, also forgot to mention I had a delicious cocktail… but i can’t remember what it was called, booo :( At the end before the dessert, the waiter brought us little plastic decorations for the table reading«happy birthday» for my gf since I mentioned it was her bday :) and she also got a complimentary dessert. raspberry chocolate cheesecake. yumm! I would definetely go back to this place and recommend it to anyone in search of a good steakhouse :)
