Roseville Cozinha is in the same building the Tin Can used to be. I thought the Tin Can was pretty good but guess they couldn’t hang in that spot. Hopefully Roseville Cozinha will make it because they have kicked it up another notch. They still have the same awesome oysters but they have added a Spanish/Italian vibe to the place with some tasty pizzas. I went a couple months ago for a Unilocal Elite party and it was awesome! Tons of delicious pizzas were being pumped out of their stone fired pizza oven and oysters aplenty were kept cold on ice. There was a also huge cheese offering. They have about a dozen taps with good beers and some pretty interesting cocktails. You should try the jalapeño cucumber margarita — spicy and refreshing.

Italian, Portugese, Brown Furniture, Dim Décor, Wine; a nice place to eat. Anytime, anyplace I would eat this pizza. In San Diego, I tasted one of the best pizza’s I ever had. The server mentioned the dough was from Italy, you be the judge, I loved it. Dough was soft, not to chewy, I saw the Chef cooking the pizza on the wood fire oven, it had a toasted bottom and hot top! The pizza I ate was not on the regular menu, it was the Portugese Sausage with four cheeses. The cheeses blended so well, with parmesan setting off the flavor and excitement the compliment the gentle sauce. This pizza will not overpower you like a hulking meat lovers from the local pie shop, which I also like. I savored this pizza for over an hour, while my friends Ching and Jen laughed at my facial expressions. Cookies tasted remarkable fresh and on par with other cookies I have had. The gelato was not too good, thin and icey… I can overlook this The donuts were good, especialy the sweet, moist inside, the outside was a bit sugary. In this area, you can find parking, entertaining within walking distance and a nice view at night. Service: From a foodie perspective, 1 star based on timing, request for items, information From my perspective, 4.5 stars based on friendliness, courtesy and effort for things asked for Overall, this is a dining experience I would recommend as a date night or something semi-formal. I will be back when in San Diego. I am in love with this pizza. Song parody of Janet Jacksons 1993 song«Any Time, Any Place» Like a dinner in Spain Look into my eyes You can see my hand On your pizza pies Eating in your place Your sauce on my face Feel it on my lips Oooh I don’t wanna stop just because The desert has come upon us Love the crust so toasted and thin I want you now I don’t wanna stop just because Sultry cheese is more than enough I’m not gonna stop no no no I want you All I wanna say is Any night Up, in this place I don’t care who’s around Mmmm Any night Up, in this place Can you hear the sound Nonononono Weeoooh-hooo Ooooooohooo Hoohoo Dancin on the floor Salad with such groove Passion starting to burn Forbidden thoughts of you Eating all around With the lights down low I was thinkin maybe I could Well…you know I don’t wanna stop just because The desert has come upon us Love the crust so toasted and thin I want you now I don’t wanna stop just because Sultry cheese is more than enough I’m not gonna stop no no no I want you All I wanna say is Any night Up, in this place Can you hear the sound Mmmm Any night Up, in this place Can you hear the sound Nonononono Weeoooh-hooo Ooooooohooo Hoohoo

I just love this place and I wished I lived closer so I could come in more often. I first had the pleasure of coming in for a Unilocal elite event and they knocked it out of the park. I’ve been for happy hour and dinner and they do a great job. Oysters are fantastic and a deeply discounted during happy hour. I love their salt cod fritters as well. Pizzas are fantastic, I’ve had a couple of different ones. Cioppino was fantastic, broth was super tasty. On thursdays they have a 3 course dinner for 2 for $ 40, have to go and try it!

The Unilocalers were a buzzin’ about this place so I was very happy to finally try it on a trip to Liberty Station. I actually was going to go try Slater’s 50⁄50 but we were starving and there was a 45 minute wait there. We walked down the way and saw that Roseville Cozinha had table availability. We called our friends and told them to meet us here instead. I loved the space, I especially liked their quote from Frank Sinatra out on their sidewalk board, «Alcohol may be Man’s worst enemy, but the Bible says, Love your Enemy.» I wasn’t feeling very well and our waitress was really sweet and ended up making me a ginger ale. Bless her. I did feel better after having it. My friend ordered a beer and a half dozen oysters while we waited for my sister and her fiancé to join us. We ordered the Baby beet salad. I loved the super thin, wide sliced cheese on top. We also got the side of Brussels sprouts and a pancetta pizza. The pizza was perfection. Thin, not too crispy, and not too cheesy. In addition we got a bowl of their stew with a couple different sausages in it. Very good. My absolute favorite thing was the Malasadas. We ordered a dozen to go. They came out piping hot in a double brown lunch bag. These little pieces of round fried dough rolled in cinnamon and sugar… Holy Mary! Freaking Amazeballs… that’s what they should call them! I will absolutely be back to try a different type of pizza, their yummy looking shrimp and of course those damn Malasadas!

Went a couple of Saturdays ago and was pleased to see another(semi) new restaurant in that beautiful area of Point Loma. I heard it was a Portuguese-American fusion, but let me tell you I did not see the Portugal spirit there, although the food is very good no matter the nationality or their style is. We got a pizza and crab cakes to share(dieting!) and Stone IPA beer. Very intimate but too dark for my taste, and also too noisy from some group celebrating. As nice touch, I found very charming those aprons hanging at the entrance and the vintage movie posters. I will come back again and try some other dishes.

I came for lunch, and I was immediately caught of guard when the girl at the front, asked me to put my order at the counter. Apparently during lunch, you order at the counter, they give you a number, you find a seat, and then you pay after your meal. However, dinner is more traditional, where you have servers that take your order and deliver your food. At any rate, to get to it, I ordered the rotisserie chicken sandwich with aged cheddar, aioli, and added house bacon and tomatoes at no extra cost, which was all served on a ciabatta roll. The sandwich alone cost $ 8, but for $ 3 more you can add fries or a salad. I opt for the salad. Also, for $ 5, I ordered the roasted mushrooms and endive veggie side.( ) The sautéed mushrooms and endive were plentiful and very good.( ) They were lightly seasoned and cooked very well. The mushrooms had a nice color, glistened, and tasted earthy in a good way.( ) The farm to table endives and arugala were cooked perfectly. They were in a perfect equilibrium; not over, nor under cooked, just right.( ) The seasoning was light, but just right. The rotisserie chicken sandwich was good. Although I did think they were a little heavy handed with the aioli, the chicken tasted very good and was tender.( ) The few slices of bacon tasted good and had a very good crunch that added great texture to the sandwich.( ) More bacon on the sandwich would have been a good thing. Good sandwich. The side salad was larger than what I expected. It came filled with raw fresh mushrooms, a variety of greens, sweet pickled shallots, and a light mustard vinaigrette.( ) The salad was light and flavorful. It was a good choice with the sandwich, because it helped balance out, and was a needed break from the rich aioli. The service was pretty good for the most part. I only received one refill on my iced tea, and I was a little disappointed that nobody came by to ask how my food was or if I had any questions, and questions I had. I was pretty much ignored, until I finished my food and was ready to pay. But, still I enjoyed the food. Perhaps sometimes that is a good thing?

Malasadas are brilliant! I enjoyed sharing these warm fat little Portuguese donuts with my dining companion, J.T., at lunch. Our Whole Shrimp, wood-oven-roasted with chili & garlic for $ 15, was tasty as well. J.T.‘s salad was fresh & interesting… I tried it and posted a photo, and I think that’s the Baby Beet Salad, but I’m not positive. It was a delicious salad. My Wild Mushroom Pizza for $ 16 had a wonderful crust, but was a little bit too salty for my taste. The staff made a valiant effort to please, and produced a second Wild Mushroom pizza minus the speck pork, which did reduce the salt.(This is a matter of personal taste, and I appreciate the staff’s help.) This was my 2nd visit to Roseville Cozinha. My first visit was for a Unilocal party at Roseville Cozinha, where the owner & staff treated us to a fantastic evening of gourmet pizzas from the wood-fired oven, raw oysters, and endless drinks. I especially enjoyed my favorite wine, a Sauvignon Blanc, with the artisan pizza slices! I love the special touches, such as arugula or chili oil or truffle oil on the pizzas. CONFESSION: I’m shy around raw oysters, and not even endless drinks can persuade me to put the raw little things in my mouth. I was impressed with how hard the staff worked to keep the food and drinks coming for a big group. I recommend this restaurant if you need a place for a group or a party.(-; Just talk to the owner. They have a pleasant indoor space, as well as a patio which is especially enjoyable on a warm evening. Roseville Cozinha has a great wine menu, including Portuguese & Italian wines. They also have Craft Beers & Cocktails. The friendly owner, Michael, introduced himself to me at the Unilocal party, and he is clearly knowledgeable and experienced with the art of creating gourmet pizza. He is justifiably proud of what a fantastic place Roseville Cozinha has become.

For vegetarians, I’d recommend the mushroom pizza without speck. Really good. They have probably like 10 – 12 craft beers on tap, wine, and cocktails(including absinthe cocktails — is this the new cool thing?(like mules used to be)). Staff is very friendly, all the food looks fresh and delicious. Can’t wait to go back and try the cheese board.

I don’t know a lot about Portuguese food, but my family had such a good meal at Roseville Cozinha last night that we want to learn more. We hadn’t intended to go to this restaurant — the wait was too long at another place nearby and we didn’t want to move our car. Our first bites were the Salt Cod Fritters off the Small Plates menu. Wow! Think crab cakes but with salt cod, which I understand is a fish used in traditional Portuguese cuisine. Paired with arugula and a lemon aioli, this dish was fantastic. Light as air. Next came the bread, which we had requested to pacify our kids. The bread that came out was delicously grilled, and, drum roll please… perfectly seasoned. Who seasons bread? My wife commented in real time that from something as simple as their bread, it was obvious that there was someone back there in the kitchen who obviously loves food. That came through. For her entrée, my wife had the Grass Fed Beef Burger, served with cheddar, caramelized onions, aioli and fries. The burger was fantastic, and it was made even better by the wonderful grilled brioche bun from Con Pane around the corner. A truly exceptional restaurant burger. I liked my Ervilhas Stew even better. Imagine peas, potato, traditional linguica sausage and a poached egg in a wonderfully seasoned tomato based stew, with more of that fantastic grilled bread on the side. I’m not usually a big stew guy, but I may have just been converted. Truly exceptional. For dessert we had the Malasadas, which is kind of like Portuguese donuts covered in cinnamon and sugar. Uhhhh, yeah, we’ll try those! Again, fantastic. They also treated our kids right. I’ve mentioned the bread, but the kids liked their menu, and their kids meal came with ice cream for dessert. The ice cream was lovingly topped with a fresh blackberry. The staff too was kid-friendly. We loved the historical photos on the wall, which pay homage to the Portuguese and Italian fishing communities which shaped Point Loma. Oh right, I forgot to mention that the restaurant is Portuguese themed, ANDITALIAN. We didn’t have any of the more Italianate menu items, but they looked great too. I thought the interior buildout was beautiful, although it was strange that the pizza guy was on his own across the hallway from the main kitchen. The nautically themed bathroom doors were particularly cool. Sure, the back room where we ate was a little on the dark side, and the counter by the front door was confusing — it looked like that’s where we’d order, which our server later told us is what happens during lunch, where the menu is much more sandwich focused. Roseville Cozhina is in a tough space facing the wrong street within Liberty Station, but I hope people find it. We had a really wonderful meal there.

Hmmm, a Portuguese/Italian place. Sounded interesting. A small restaurant divided into to rooms. One side was in the bar area with TV’s and the other one had booths. I asked what the«date night» special was… It’s on Tuesday nights and you get 2 salads, 2 entrees(limited to the pizza and specials for the night) and 2 scoops of their house– made gelato. We got the special and everything was delicious! The presentation of our dessert was very pretty! Our server was nice. It was funny when he brought out some slices of cheese telling us that the chef forgot to put them in our pasta lol. My only complaint is that the pizza could’ve been a little crunchier and one part was kinda burned.
