It’s funny that no matter what restaurant you read a review for on here… you will always find good with the bad. I guess it might matter what night you go on, who serves you, who’s cooking in the kitchen, etc. But consistency, or the lack thereof, might be the death knell for a place. Fortunately for my date and I, we had a fabulous experience. We went early one evening and got wonderful service and tasty food that will bring us back. We almost hesitated to go in once we got there because of some of the bad reviews we had read, but he really wanted to try it previously, and I thought we should just write our own review and it is a good one. Started with the mussles in the fennel broth, and we could NOT stop dipping their yummy bread in it until we sopped up almost every last drop! Oh yeah, the mussels were good too. I had the duck confit after the server said he would put it up to any duck confit in all of SD, a challenge I just had to try and glad I did. Expertly crispy skin on oh so tender meat just falling off the bone. Served on braised cranberry beans, rainbow chard, rhubarb & applewood smoked bacon lardons… oooh, I love me some lardons! My date ordered the Herbs de Provence crusted albacore and that was also perfection. Not crazy about the interior of the restaurant, doesn’t need to be that stuffy, but it was a comfy booth we sat in. The chef was standing behind the bar when we left, and we praised him highly. I think you should give it a try, and hopefully you will have a great experience as we did.

Mmm. my favorite? Proscuitto watermelon salad as appetizer, which basically is just that — watermelon topped with poschuitto, plus mint leaves and goat cheese on the side. It was light and refreshing. I thought everything on the plate had a nice balance. I am totally recommending this appetizer. I also tried their salmon, which was wrapped inside wax paper and it made the salmon super soft. This was probably the softest salmon I ever had! Their style of French and Mediterrean-type food is unique to me. Love the gold accents décor and venue; it was quite small, but cute, charming and romantic! Definitely worth coming back again!
