This place is alright. Not exactly what I would want in ice cream but still good. I sampled a few different flavors of their sorbet slush things. They all were good and had great texture. All tasted artificial but sometimes that’s what I want. I ended up getting the horchatta ice with the soft serve ice cream special they have posted. I thought that since it was one of their suggested items the two ice creams would mix well, but they didnt. Flavor wise, yes, but texture, absolutely not haha. I will probably come back, though. I just won’t get that. The girls working that night were very friendly even tho they were about to close. The store was clean. And they had cold goodies. Win.

I love Rita’s because of the custard is damn good and they will let you try anything you want. The location is alright it is very small with no tables inside but there are two outside. The are no umbrellas at the tables but if you come a bit later in the day there is shade from the building. The employee that helped me was very helpful and friendly so I do understand the reviews saying the customer service is poor. I’ve been to Rita’s before and I always get the gelati which is half ice and half custard. There are several flavors of ice and a few flavors of custard like chocolate, vanilla and then the swirl of the two. The gelati is so good because you get the ice and the custard and the custard is so thick and creamy. The prices are a little high but I think it’s worth so I’m not really complaining. I will be here time and time again.

This place is a good summer spot. It was my first time going and I love their custard. I would definitely go back since its not ridiculously expensive.

My first time having Rita’s in the west coast! The taste was the same as I could remember from Maryland, the store was clean. The employee did greet everyone but wasn’t very friendly. It didn’t see the store wasn’t stock because employee had to opened boxes to grab the right size. But overall a great taste in the Rita’s!

Delicious! My kids love when we visit Rita’s! It’s clean, the service is good and the Italian ice/gelati is superb. I also love when I get the mailers that have a coupon for by one get one free! Make sure to download the app, every 8th visit gets you a free Italian ice. Can’t go wrong there!

I love this place. The workers are nice. Ice is good, custard is even better. Custard cone dipped in chocolate. Oh good lord that is amazing. Its always pretty slow when we come in which is unfortunate. They’re a little pricey, but the extra price is worth what you pay. The half ice/half custard thing is also really good. I’m probably going to look into their catering because its a fantastic deal for only $ 100.

Second time here decided to give it another shot, I didn’t like the gelato last time I like chocolatey flavored not fruit and all they had was cookies n cream. so I decided to try again for custard dipped cones. we wanted it dipped in all 3 flavored like the picture on the flyer I got in the mail that showed a pretty cone with a layer of cherry then Carmel then chocolate, the guy did not know what he was doing he dipped the cone in all 3 dips on top of each other he dropped the ice cream in the dip twice so it took forever, the dip was layered so thick. And the custard didn’t fill up the cone. It was the sloppiest ugly thing when he handed me the cone. So unprofessional. We won’t go again still can’t figure out why people love it here. we love dessert but not Ritas

The employee that helped us was super informative and nice. My friend and I had told him that it was our first time and he gave us tons of samples! I really liked the sour patch kids red flavor. The fruit flavors were super yummy too! I cant wait to come back. I got a geltani with sour patch kids red and vanilla custard. My friend got the chocolate & vanilla swirl it definitely made our week! Thanks for opening one so close

Being from the East Coast I have been dieing to try this ever since I’ve heard about it. Frozen custard is something I miss so much from home. I guess I will keep missing it because this is not the frozen custard I know and love. This more like a flavored cool whip, whereas frozen custard is more like ice cream, but soft from the machine like Fosters or D.Q.

Rita’s is one of favorite dessert spots! It’s quick, easy, and tasty. Flavors change randomly but they’re always willing to let you sample them. If you’ve never tried it is worth the trip!

I was so happy when this opened up because I used to stalk the Carlsbad location. You could say that I was a custard virgin, but after tonight that custard was in and around my mouth. Tonight my brother and I were craving something sweet and we wanted to try some where new. I was not disappointed. We were greeted by two employees who were super helpful and let me try samples of everything! I ended up getting a waffle cone with chocolate and vanilla custard with Reese’s pieces. I went with the vanilla custard because it tasted just like Cool Whip. I can eat an entire container of Cool Whip in one sitting. My brother ended up getting the Gelati. I wish I went went with that instead. Its a cup of frozen custard at the bottom and top and the middle is Italian ice. I had to get leave with a box of custard Oreo sandwiches for the cravings. I also signed up for STAR: Sweet Treats Action Rewards. It does not cost anything to sign up and now I save 10% every time I purchase anything from Rita’s. I’ll get a point for every dollar I spend and for every 50 points I earn, I’ll get a $ 5 credit towards a treat. With custard cakes being offered, it’s easy to spend money here. Similar to good sex, I’m coming back ;)

Before I moved back to California I spent a great deal of time in the Philly area where we had many a day waiting in line at Ritas. This Place is a welcomed addition to my local shops I reccomend and visit. I write this review with the thought in mind that other will read it and hopefully go here and have as good of an experience as I always seem to. The Water ice is a great way to cool off in the san diego summers so the more that visit the more likely it will stay in business, so please give it a try. Also Im pretty sure the custard is edd based so anyone with a dair allergin is safe.

As a big fan of Rita’s I expected another great experience, but apparently not at this location. I walked in to an empty store with a male behind the counter who looked at me, the floor, then me. In complete silence. It was downright awkward and I was surprised as usually I have always encountered employees very sincere at Rita’s. I had to initiate my order, first verbal. Then he repeated my order. No more words until the total. Then no thank you, or goodbye.

I came for the grand opening and even though it was fairly packed, the service was quick. I really enjoyed the Ritas in Chula Vista. I was excited to know it was going to open closer to where I live(even though it’s not really that close). Italian ice is definitely refreshing on a hot day. But it can melt pretty quickly and turn into a slushy. They have different flavors daily. You’re able to see what flavors they have by checking out their Facebook. My personal favorites are mango, pineapple, pear and strawberry.

The line was not that bad when I came here. I just felt pressured to order fast because there were a lot of people behind me. It was a bit overwhelming. The staff are extremely friendly and patient, so that is a plus. They had interesting ice flavors; my boyfriend had Swedish fish flavor and it tasted pretty good. However, it was just too sweet. I just had the simple vanilla and strawberry swirl in a waffle cone. It was pretty decent. I give it a three star for the icecream and snow cone. Plus an extra star for the great staff. Oh and the prices are decent. It is affordable. I will definitely comeback when it is not busy, so I can take my time and look at the menu. Hopefully my next visit be better than a decent visit like today.

Nice new spot that opened up in the Rolando area. Went to the pre-opening event today and everyone seemed friendly. Me and my friend sampled the mango gelato and it was pretty tasty. I also tried the chocolate and vanilla waffle cup. The Oreos and Snickers toppings didn’t seem too fresh, but the ice cream/yogurt it self was good. I wish this location the best of luck. I’ve worked in the area(university square) for years and I’ve seen businesses come and go. Get your gelato on!
