Sold me a car that has been in a significant accident and completely lied that it was a rental and had never been in a wreck. We were shown a Carfax at the dealers office that apparently was not this car. When it started to make a mysterious noise three years later, we pulled the Carfax to find out the entire front end had been rebuilt. The car was sold at action, was never a rental. Unfortunately none of this was in our contract so we have no evidence of false information. Car has been sold.

I waited a few months after buying a salvage title car from Fred to write a review, as I wanted to make sure everything settled out well. I’m extremely satisfied. I had all of the repair detail on the truck, before and after photos, and we had it inspected by ford as an extra step. Fred never pushed back. I just read a negative review on him where he wasn’t up front about it being salvage. THAT WAS NEVER an issue with Fred in my experience and I’d guess it was a misunderstanding. I’ve recommended him to others as well. If you can get by the salvage issue its a great deal. You just need to trust who you work with, like I do Fred.

I saw an add for a 2007 F150 Lariat on Autotrader by R& T Auto Sales… The price they were selling it for? $ 19,950 for a truck that had 28,000 miles on it and looked mint condition.
I thought it had to be too good to be true, so I called the dealership and talked to the owner, Fred. He immediately asked me if I was military, and was overjoyed when I said yes (to take advantage and rip off new Marines in the area that don’t know any better). I asked him if anything was wrong with the truck, and if there’s anything I should be concerned with at all… Fred proceeded to tell me the truck checked out beautifully (nothing mechanically wrong and no blemishes on the interior), told me you would be hard pressed to find a better deal on a truck with only 28,000 miles– and I agreed with him thinking it was an absolute steal. I set up an appointment for Saturday, March 22, and arranged a ride to make the hour long trip down to San Diego.
Before making the trip, I decided to call him later that evening and confirm that the truck had the amount of miles he was claiming it did, and I asked him if there was ANYTHING that I should be concerned about. He was extremely quick to negotiate the price down from 19,950 $ (with tax, title, reg, and everything else… it came close to 23k). Without any effort on my behalf, he told me I could have it for 20K out the door. I asked him multiple times why he was selling the truck at 7,000 $ below the KBB value and his response was «I just want to give you military folk the best deal possible after all you do for us».
I thought this was ridiculously sketchy, so I decided to bite the bullet and purchase a CarFax on the vehicle. VIN: 1FTPW14567KC97444 — If you want to see the results of the carfax, see for yourself… The truck was stolen in 2008, recovered in 2013. The truck had a salvaged title and had reported odometer problems, making it impossible to determine the actual mileage of the truck.
I was infuriated, and calmly called Fred the day before driving down to San Diego to purchase the truck (without him knowing I saw the CarFax)… I once again asked him if there was anything at all I should be concerned about with the truck, or anything that would dissuade me from purchasing it. I asked him if he had the title on hand, and he said «absolutely!» I asked him if he could be so kind as to provide me a CarFax of the vehicle, and he started fumbling over his words and making up excuses saying «CarFax isn’t always very reliable, and I wouldn’t trust it so much»… He proceeded to dodge around the topic until I finally told him I’m looking at the CarFax as we speak and read off everything that was wrong with the truck that he failed to mention. He began to get noticeably nervous and began to try and make it appear like a salvaged title is no big deal whatsoever.
Fred was going to wait until I drove an hour to San Diego to tell me that the vehicle was stolen and has a salvaged title with odometer problems. He was extremely disrespectful when I confronted him about the problems. He began to say he didn’t do anything wrong because I didn’t specifically ask if the truck had a salvaged title– although I asked him MULTIPLE times if there was any reason at all I should be concerned about the truck. I don’t know about you– but I think a salvaged title is a HUGE reason to be concerned. He ended up yelling at me over the phone, and tried to make me out to be the idiot for looking at the CarFax first and calling him out on his bluff.
This review doesn’t even scratch the surface of the awful experience I had dealing with R & T Auto Sales. Stay away at ALL costs. Fred is an immoral, deceitful, and dirty sales’man’.

I was just about to buy a truck from Fred, the owner of R & T Auto Sales at 3385 Sunrise St. San Diego, CA 92 102 because the truck looked like a great price with very low miles and I read the 4 other reviews on Unilocal from people who bought cars from Fred at a great price. I looked R & T Auto Sales up on BBB and it looked like it was rated an F partially because 11/​06/​2013 the BBB said it confirmed that R & T Auto Sales had not obtained a necessary license from the DMV Occupational Licensing. I was still going to buy from Fred because it seemed like such a good deal that I was willing to over look it if he didn’t have a license, but last night I paid $ 50 for an unlimited subscription from car fax and found out the truck has a salvaged title! I think he should have said in Auto Trader that the truck had a salvaged title so I didn’t waste my time, money, emotions, and I even got a credit inquiry applying for a loan for this truck. I was originally planning to buy a much cheaper truck without a loan until I saw this truck that I thought was worth borrowing extra for. Seems like another case of too good to be true. Ugg.

We just got back from buying a car from Fred and it was the easiest, most laid back car buying experience I have ever had. Right to the point, straight forward and a fast transaction. I would recommend R&T to our friends and family and will probably give him a call when we are ready to buy my husbands next car.
