I tried this place the other day with my co-workers after we decided to not wait in the long IN-n-Out line(they are both in the same mall). They have banh mi ba le there(aka their«po boy» sandwiches”) and also some rice combos and spring and egg rolls. I think I was most surprised that they had Vietnamese bun rieu(crab noodle soup) and bun bo hue(Vietnamese beef soup, NOT phở). I love bun rieu but have a hard time finding it(I think I have only seen it at Phuong Trang). Anyway, the wait was a little long because I guess they were making everything from scratch. The sandwiches ranged $ 3+, rice combos $ 6+, and noodle soups $ 6+. Spring rolls and egg rolls are sold in pairs — $ 2.75÷2 and $ 1.25÷2 respectively. I got the spring rolls too, but found that they had a lot of noodles and lettuce in them. Not much shrimp. This place is easy and convenient if you’re in the area, or want some hot noodle soups that are NOT phở. I think I’ll be back to try out the bun rieu next time :)
Literally THEE worst banh mi we’ve ever had in our lives! It tasted bad, from the stale bread down to the pâté. It comprised of 75% bread, 20% vegetables &5% meats. So schiesty! I am never ever going there again. I really hate to leave such a bad review for an obvious mom & pops shop… but maybe they can use this as a rude awakening and start making better food! waste of money, time & calories!

After my office I went looking for some Asian place. This place was new and thought if giving a try. I order crab fried rice with less rice more meat and onions. I have to this was the first fried rice that did not have the oil. The rice was very soft and tasted excellent. The put real chunk of crab meat in that. If you are a crab person you definitely should try this place. For morecrab meat in crab fried rice, they charge you little more but you will get more crab meat.

Worst Vietnamese sandwich ever. The bread was stale and the filling(BBQ chicken) was not edible. The egg rolls were crispy on the outside but had a slime like filling. Gross. The girl behind the register was nice but she had earphones in and was talking on the phone. I miss when hungry howies was there, heck even pizza depot. Will never come back.

This is a fast food phở place with a Louisiana twist! It’s super casual and you can order to go as well. We had: — Chicken Phở + po-boy sandwich combo(all their Phở comes in one size; a small) Keep in mind you’re ordering a po-boy so the bread you get won’t be the typical French styled Vietnamese bread, its the Louisiana kind of po-boy bread! — the po-boy is promising. If you’ve had it in NOLA then you’ll know this is almost comparable! The chicken, shrimp, and fish are crunchy(if not deep fried) so you truly have that southern experience with spices added! I had the spicy mayo on the side and still couldn’t finish my half sandwich! The service is great, but the food is just OK. You could find better phở places in the area, but the po-boys are pretty good! Don’t forget your Unilocal check-in for a FREE hibiscus drink!

While I never got a chance to try Green Bowl(the phở place that Po & Phở replaced), I really wanted to try the latest addition to Vietnamese cuisine in the Mecca. So, when I got a $ 2 off coupon off the phở and sandwich combo — not to mention hopefully kick the lingering effects of my cold — here I was. The place is neat and tidy, and the ambiance is nice. There’s a flat-screen TV that was airing college football when I came in. While the combination of Vietnamese and Southern-style po’ boys sounds weird, this place makes it work. What surprised me was that a combo #1 phở wasn’t offered… the choices are usually beef, chicken, or pork here. The phở could be better, but at least my veggies were fresh, and there’s Sriracha and hoisin sauce here as well. As for the po’ boy — I have to admit, even though my sandwich came out on a toasted telera roll(the kind of roll you see on tortas), the shrimp one I ordered turned out really well. The veggies, sauce, and shrimp blended together for one delicious sandwich here. No soda fountain here, but they do sell canned drinks, and it looks like they make boba drinks and smoothies as well. Also, the servers(who are quite nice, btw) offered to give me water after I had drained my Arizona Green Tea. Overall, while I’ve had better phở in Mira Mesa, the sandwiches here are quite promising. Think I’ll be back here to try more of the offerings.

Our hero has tried the spicy beef noodles, phở, and shrimp po boy here and so far he’s just not that impressed. Their phở is really horrible and the broth seems like it wasn’t boiled long enough from how light it tasted. The spicy beef noodles use really cheap cuts of beef that’s mostly tendon. As for the po boys, they’re actually not that bad, but the bread didn’t seem very fresh or fluffy in true baguette style. PROS: — They offer an interested blend of Southern and Vietnamese cuisine. — Free hibiscus tea with Unilocal check in. CONS: — The phở is not up to snuff, especially for Mira Mesa. — The bread they use doesn’t stack up to other Vietnamese sandwich shops in the area.

You only get 1 chance to impress me… It was my choice for dinner and I opted to try one of my bookmarks. I wanted to order the combo($ 8.50) that comes with phở and a po’ boy sandwich. As we were ordering, a lady whispered in our cashiers ear. The cashier said«Oh, sorry, we ran out of bread.» What?! Who runs out of bread? We were nice about it and opted to split an order of the beef phở to go. Phở wasn’t very good and the veggies were not fresh. My dinner was ruined…

Solid 3 with a lot of potential! Heard about this place from another Unilocaler so we decided to make it a guys night for dinner. The combination of a bowl of soup and sandwich is not uncommon. But when its a Phở bowl and a Po Boy sandiwch together, you have something of an anomaly. It was pretty hot that day so I ordered some spring rolls and a shrimp po boy sandwich. I did notice they have a phở and po combo which is a bowl of phở and a half sandwich for under $ 9. Spring Rolls — These were pre-made and packaged. I understand why its like this but the downside to having spring rolls packaged and sitting for a while is the rice paper sticks together. So when I pulled them apart, the rice paper tore… Otherwise, the spring rolls were decent and nicely priced. Shrimp Po Boy — The po boy was pretty big! To my suprise, it had about 10 – 12 large pieces of shrimp inside. Inside the sandwich was a red may, tomato type sauce which complimented the seasoned shrimp pretty well. The bread was good too. Not a bad start. You can tell the staff was fairly new at their job so give it some time and some feedback to get everything from good to great. Check in on Unilocal and get a FREE hibiscus iced tea. Also, this place is tucked in the corner in the middle of the shopping center.

I haven’t written a review in awhile, but I’m more than happy to do it for this biznaz. The boyfriend and I were just finishing up on having the worlds most lazy/awesome day ever when we decided it was time for dinner… eating out for the 2nd time today(smh), but what can I say? I’m surprised we didn’t take then cab from our home 4 miles away. It’s conveniently located right next to what used to be Ralphs. We came in almost at closing but we were happily welcomed by all staff. Everyone there is just SO nice! Service is a BIG one for me and they’ve got it spot on! We sat outside since we had our white fluff ball on a leash with us and they checked up on us every so now and then. We decided to try the phở and po combo for $ 8.50. You get to pick your meats for both and the portions are just perfect for the price! Lots of nommy leftovers for later(and by later, I mean in an hour)! Beef phở was beef phở. I mean, one can never really fail at homemade phở. As for the shrimp po boy, we had to take it togo because my inny belly button was turning into an outy. We ended up eating it an hour or two later because it was taunting us. It’s basically a shrimp po on those skinny French rolls used for banh mis. Not bad! Bread was a tad harder than I’d like, but I feel that a majority of banh mi shops are like that. All that matters is that it was good and I would most definitely get it again. We also tried their gumbo… Oh-em-gee…Simply delicious. I know my Creole/Cajun food, and this is one of the better ones I’ve tried in San Diego. Yeah, that’s right. Bomb ass gumbo at a phở shop. Perfect amount of spice. Perfect amount for the price($ 5). One scoop of rice. Uhhhh… Thinking, thinking… Yeah, that’s enough of that. Bottom line is: this gumbo is whats going to get me fat over the next year. Ultimate comfort food! We also got an avocado shake. Truthfully, it wasn’t the best thing ever but it wasn’t bad at all. I’d definitely get it again and/or try the other flavors; the boyfriend would most agree. What I REALLY want to go back for(and yes, updated reviews will follow) breakfast items!!! Pâté freakin chaud!?! Filled croissants(ham? Cheese? Chocolate? Blueberry? Your pick!) fresh baked flaky awesomeness?! I NEED to try it. I’ll close this review with a question. Haven’t you and your friends been hungover in the morning and everyone wants phở, but you crave well… I don’t know, a $ 5 bowl of hearty spicy gumbo with a scoop of white rice? Well? This place solves the problem. Theyre a new small local biznaz that I see having a huge potential! So happy they’re here! Support them so they can stick around to feed my mouth!(: Cheers!

WHAAATT? Cajun food AND Vietnamese food? This place is definitely very unique. It opened just about a month ago and is located in the Ralphs shopping center in Mira Mesa(soon to be HMART). There isn’t a lot of choice around San Diego for cajun food and this place offers a great satisfaction for your cajun cravings. Like some others have stated, some of the meats can be a little on the salty side, but overall great flavors and very well cooked food. They have a wide variety of options from Po Boys and gumbo to Banh Mi and phở, and a few fusion items in betwee. I’m sure you’ll find a menu item to your liking. I got the seafood gumbo and man it hit the spot! It was only $ 5 and was a good sized portion(i couldn’t even finish it). The gumbo was very flavorful, hardy, and just the right amount of spice. I also got their iced coffee and they made it just right! Unlike other places, they actually asked me how sweet(or not) i wanted my coffee. I hate it when I get a cup half filled with condensed milk, but that’s my preference. Anyways, the point is they try to tailor the coffee to your taste. This place offers something new and a great twist to your typical Viet cuisine. Of course for those that rather stay more traditional, they have options for you as well. Staff is also very energetic and friendly. Oh and the price is right!

Driving home from work I was hungry, yes very hungry. I was about to stop by in&out to grab a quick burger but then remembered PO&PHO was right around the corner. Originally I was about to get the spring rolls just because its light and wanted to go to the gym after. but i was TOO hungry so opted for a sandwich. My all time Vietnamese sandwich would have to be the BBQ Pork. After ordering the sandwich I waited for a bit and got my order. I was super excited to try it but right into the first bite I was disappointed. 1) The sandwich was very imbalance. The pork, the pickled veggies and the bread itself didn’t tie with each other. The pork was waaaayy overflavored(salty) and did not taste like it was freshly grilled. The pickled veggies barely had any taste and the bread was just there. If I had to do it again I wish i got the spring rolls since its hard to go wrong there… I’ll give it a try again, just not the BBQ pork sandwich.

After reading the other reviews and seeing that this place had both Cajun food and Vietnamese food I knew I had to try this restaurant! I had a pleasant experience… sucks that some of you have not, but here’s my take on the place. I ordered the #8 combo with the beef phở and(per the recommendation of the waitress who took my order) the shrimp ‘po boy. I really liked the phở. The broth was extremely flavorful and tasty, and they gave a pretty big bowl of phở for the price. $ 8.50PLUS a sandwich? WINNN! I saved the sandwich for later, and it was delicious! My only gripe is that the sauce with the sandwich was not spread out, so it was a bit unbalanced. Not anything to be too upset about, it was still yummy! My roomie ordered the turkey sandwich for $ 3.85, I think? For under $ 4 it was a HUGE sandwich, and she said it was really dericious! All in all, I would definitely come back, it is a little far from La Jolla, but if I’m in the mood for a sandwich and phở… I know where to go! OH, and tip re: location. It is a little hard to find because there are so many different strip malls, I turned into the one with Big Lots instead of the right one. Just look for the In N Out and that’s the right strip mall. It’s towards the back, next to some abandoned CVS, Walgreens, who knows what… but once you find it, you won’t be disappointed! I will be back soon! :)

This place reminded me of a Cali Baquette – but not as much bakery/dessert items. Décor is plain. Restaurant is kinda hidden inside a shopping center right off Mira Mesa Blvd. They serve mainly sandwiches and phở(although I did see bun rieu & bun bo hue). Sandwiches are around $ 3-$ 4, but they give you a good portion. You order, get your food, and sit down. No server here. I saw a deal with phở & po boy for only $ 8.50. Not bad. My sandwich was could have been better if the bread was fresh. :-/Oh, I didn’t care for the sweet pickle. My friend ordered the shrimp poboy — pretty good! The avocado smoothie is fresh, but very plain. I like the one at Phở Ca Dao better. Gumbo was a lot smaller than the picture(go figure)…wasn’t the best gumbo ever. My friend ordered spring rolls, no veggies — -they included the green onion. Guess they thought it was a …“fruit?” :-/ May or may not come back to try the other sandwiches. They need to step it up, especially being on Mira Mesa Blvd — -cuz there’s PLENTYOF(better) OPTIONS in this area.

A brand new Vietnamese restaurant. It is still very clean. We had phở and sandwiches. Everything tasted good. They also have a good selection of Asian beverages. They do not have waitress service. So, you order and pay at the register. Very nicely priced.

What was the green bowl became a Vietnamese and po boy place to eat. My first order was the number 8 combo, meaning a bowl of phở and small po boy sandwich with a choice of meat. Plus, I used my check in offer to get a free drink. I ate my bowl of phở which was alright to enjoy. But, the best moment of eating lunch was the shrimp po boy sandwich was my favorite sandwich. Next time I come back, I would rather have the sandwich over any other food item I look on the menu.

I’ve never seen this combination of food before, but it works! I wanted something different, so I got the po boy shrimp banh mi and spring rolls to hold me over. The spring rolls were freshly made and cheap– only $ 2.75 for a pack of 2. The banh mi was ok, I think I’d rather go with the Vietnamese style ones that I’m used to instead. Overall, the service is fast and the establishment is clean. Great spot for a quick lunch!

Wish I could give a rave review like the other reviews here but alas I cannot. I was excited to try a new food concept(Po Boys and Phở? cool!) but this place is more like a Vietnamese sandwich spot that happens to have Po Boys and gumbo. This little place is located right next to the Ralphs that just shut down in a plaza that includes In N Out, El Patron, Applebees, etc. Like all places that just opened, they had a few issues to work out but the employees were very enthusiastic about their service. However, our food took a really long time to come(like half an hour) and they need to develop a system to identify what food to bring out to people. The menu is definitely geared more towards the Vietnamese cuisine side instead of the Cajun side. My friend and I ordered the Coconut Shrimp and Po Boy Shrimp Sandwich. The coconut shrimp was smothered in a delicious honey mayo sauce but didn’t have any coconut flavor. The Po Boy shrimp was lightly battered and nicely fried but didn’t very much flavor. It was just served with chopped tomatoes and nothing else. It really just needed some strong cajun seasoning or hot sauce and some lettuce. The French bread the sandwiches lacked the crunch of freshly baked bread and lacked flavor. My other friends ordered the noodle soups and they were more on the bland side. However, I had a spoonful of there phở broth and it was interesting. It was thicker and had a lighter flavor than most phở. I want to come back and order the phở and half sandwich combo and try something else behinds the shrimp.

This place literally just opened and I highly recommend that people go here to try out their good grub. If you can decide if you want a Po Boy Sandwich or a Banh Mi or some Phở… they have a Phở Po Boy Combo for only $ 8.50! Can’t go wrong with the Shrimp Po Boy! It was D-LISH There is a Rice Combo where you choose one meat and you get, 2 sushi, 2 egg rolls, a bowl of small soup, a side of steamed veggies, and a fruit. All this for only $ 8.50 They were out of the Jambalaya Rice when we got there, but we did get a bowl of their Gumbo. I don’t think it was Seafood Gumbo because it didn’t have any crawfish, shrimp or crab in our bowl, but it did have a good amount of smoked sausage in it. Def try out their Po Boy Sandwiches, you can choose either shrimp, fish, chicken or oyster. There’s also a Coconut Shrimp sandwich, might have to try that the next time. There was a customer that had ordered it and I kept hearing him say how DLISH it was. The prices here are very reasonable and the food portions is satisfying. We didn’t get to try any of their Boba drinks or smoothies, we were way too full. BUT we did get FREE hibiscus iced tea with all our meals, very refreshing. I also got to meet the owners, very nice people and open to any customer feedback whether good or bad. They just opened, so ANY feedback helps. I do hope in the near future they add red beans & rice to their menu, as well as beignets. For the Banh Mi, let them know if you want them to cut it in half for you, otherwise you’ll get a big long sandwich. We will def be back because there were other items on the menu we wanted to try.
