Located next to one of San Diego’s top Spanish restaurants known as Costa Brava, La Pata Negra is a cool little market that specializes in selling food products from Spain They sell products such as olive oil, spices, cheese, cookies, beers, and wines from Spain. So if you want ingredients to make some authentic Spanish food at home, you can find it here. Only gripe I have is that, I wanted Spanish horchata but they didn’t have it. It’s totally different from Mexican horchata. The Spanish bartender at Costa Brava said that they sell it here but they don’t. Oh well, I either have to make one at home or travel to Spain to try it. I prefer the latter.

Love this store! I don’t go to PB often but this store is worth a trip there. They have an assortment of fresh and dry goods from Spain including dried, cured meats, olives, cheeses, wine, crackers, dips, spreads, and more. If you like charcuterie, this is a must visit store. You can sample a lot of the goods too! My boyfriend and I left with goat cheese, manchego, jamon, sweet onions, a couple cans of olives, and romesco sauce. That romesco sauce is what dreams are made of. It would make anything taste good. So definitely pick a jar of that up! There’s a restaurant next door where they serve many of the items, too. I have yet to visit the restaurant but plan to soon.

I was amazed at the Spanish Food selection. I left with more than I drove down there for. I definitely would return. I bought the Spanish jamon, Spanish crackers, and more. I felt like I was in Barcelona! I also got an education on the different hams and what the pigs eat such as acorns for the pricey jamons.

I just love going to this store. They have different variety of rice you can use for my paella. It’s a one stop shop for my Spanish cuisine.

As the son of Spanish immigrants who likes to keep on the tradition of Spanish cuisine in our home, the is the place in San Diego to find the necessary supplies. They have a little bit of everything you will need. Love shopping here.

Owned by the same family of Costa Brava this Wine and Cheese shop sits just two doors down from the ivy covered entrance of the wonderful restaurant. As you enter you are greeted by the usual one employee who welcomes you and readily answers any of your questions about the choices offered. This market has a cooler case filled with meats and cheeses and shelves that are adorned by vegetable and animal oils. Though one surprising factor for me was the lack of wine. Granted I stopped in momentarily and browsed each of the aisles, I did not recall seeing any wines for sale. I will update my review on my next visit and ask the pertinent question of where are they — but until then I am satisfied with the fact that if I need a cooking oil, cheese, or meat that is harder to find than the norm I know right where to go.

A nice little market filled with Spanish goodies. We went in trying to find some squid ink and rice to make paella and they had everything we needed. The clerk was helpful in telling us what we needed for paella, and also seemed to be able to answer questions for other customers regarding their questions on ingredients for different tapas. Will definitely come back again when I am craving Spanish food!

As someone who is from Spain, I was very excited to find a Spanish supermarket. I was a little disappointed in the selection of items. Most of items are not from Spain — especially the jamon serrano and chorizo — they are a «product of Spain» but distributed from the US, which means that most of those brands are not really known in Spain or aren’t the best. However, it did have a wide selection of cured meats and cheeses. It also had a large selections of wines, olive oils and many tapas dishes. Also, if you are in need of a paellera, this is the place to go! They have all sizes and the burners. The prices are little high up, but I guess that’s what you pay for the import and the Euro-Dollar difference.

Cool little place with ALL imported Spanish fare. Could have a real good, yet expensive time here. I think where its at is next door, at their restaurant. I will be sure to let you know!

Pretty cool Spanish market in PB — has everything you need to make your own paella(amongst other Spanish foodstuffs). The staff are knowledgeable and more than willing to share their wisdom with you. Now I just have to try Costa Brava’s paella brunch on Sunday sometime.

Went to Pata Negra market looking for the Hamon tasted at Costa Brava. It was amazing I came over to get the pricing. It was a bit on the high end for me but I will be making sure to go back and get it. it was $ 35.00 for 1.5oz of meat. This is a great store for special wines from Spain as well.

Pata Negra Market is an authentic Spanish market located in Pacific Beach, across the street from the Vons shopping center. It’s conveniently located near Costa Brava restaurant, so that after you finish your tapas and sangria at the restaurant you can load up to continue the culinary adventure at home. My dad and I stopped by last weekend before we attempted to make paella for the first time. As most newbies do, we went with the most popular Spanish dish as our first attempt. Pata Negra has an impressive array of paella pans, some humongous and obviously made for caterers or party planners looking to make paella for the masses. Another interesting find were the traditional Spanish«porron» wine containers for $ 19.99, which is cheaper than I found once on Amazon. We enjoyed perusing the Spanish wares, they have everything from olives to baby eels, saffron, candies and cookies, and of course cheese, sausage and wine. Traditional Spanish chorizo is a tasty delight, and they have several types for under $ 10 per pound. If you are feeling flush with cash, try the Iberico pork sausage, which is a mere $ 150/lb. Overall, this place is a lot of fun and a great place to try a bite of Spain.

This shop is right next to one of my favorites, Costa Brava(a tapas place). Pata Negra Market has a small assortment of tapas sauces, deli meats, cooking books, pickled deliciousness, but most of all cheese! They’re selection isn’t very big, but it’s good. Some of the best cheese I’ve had from here. They don’t mess around. I recommend you swing by on your way to dinner and check it out. Oh! You can also purchase yourself a giant paella style cooking pan, if the occasion ever presents itself.

I gave this place 2 stars(rather than 1), because I am convinced that on another day, at another time, we will get better(any service). I’m hosting a Paella party in May. San Diego Paella recommended this market for Jamon Serrano. I went with a friend, ready to taste and spend a lot of money. I was looking for jamon serrano, wine, cheese and olives. My first question: What wine do you recommend for paella. Answer: Any red wine. What cheese do you recommend. Answer: Any Manchego cheese. The best recommendation was that we eat at Costa Brava.(This was fabulous.) Other than that: 0(cero) on the helpfulness scale. 0 on the recommendations. And 0 on the amount of money I spent in the store. I think the young woman was just bored and tired. Either she«belonged» to the owner or she should go elsewhere. Lo siento mucho.

Cute little Spanish market. I wanted to buy some of the iberico but I’m traveling by plane and it needs to be kept cool :(The girl was very helpful and I may swing by in the morning to pick up one of their neat paella pans.

Since visiting Spain in 2006&2008 my husband and I have been on a mission to find good Spanish meats and cheeses. We have found it! Although we live in Long Beach we always stop at Pata Negra when we are visiting San Diego to pick up some of our favorite Spanish delights. Also, this is the only place we have found that had Lemon Soda, KAS to be exact. Mix it with some tinto and you have the refreshing Andalucian drink known as Tinto de Verano con Limon. This place makes me so happy! This morning a made an omelette using jamon serano, chorizo and manchego. It was amazing! Thank you Pata Negra!

Walked in here right after dinner at Costa Brava & boy do they have lots of yummy goodies! For all Spanish products this is the place to come! Just a taste of what they have… *Paella pans of various sizes *Squid ink(for making arroz negro at home!) *Lots of Spanish wines, including cava *Delicious cheeses(including goat & sheep) *Deli including Jamon Iberico & Spanish Chorizo *Olives some filled with cheese, others with smoked salmon *A variety of olive oil Perfect place to come to if planning to make tapas at home! My only problem is this place is pricey! I guess that’s you price you gotta pay for authentic Spanish products.

I had planned on spending about 10 minutes in this place. But, no. I spent 55 minutes in here sampling meats and cheeses and checking out their entire inventory. It was amazing. Spanish food is one of my favorites in the world but I still encountered items that I had never heard of. Some cheeses were new to me, the chorizo is very interesting since there are so many types(and pricey!) and I didn’t expect to see so many types of olives. The store also has a large wine selection. Take your time going through them all. The ham selection is vast. Be careful what you buy because some of the meat is at least $ 20/pound. But it’s worth it. The girl working that day was very knowledgeable and knew everything about the foods and how they are prepared. She had me try a bit of everything. Try the queso de oveja(sheep cheese). It’s a mild manchego and is very good. This deli is owned by the Costa Brava Spanish restaurant nearby. I highly recommend you trying these both out.
