Papa’s Pizza

i have to agree with Michael on this one… NOT authentic pizza or pasta at all… My husband and I tried this place out of courosity cuz it was new to the neighborhood… BAD mistake… we tried a few items and it was no good… For La Mesa i will say New York Giant Pizza on Dallas is still the best pizza and food in town if not the entire city!!!

HORRIBLE PASTA!!!
Ordered the spaghetti with meat sauce per the menu, but the guy taking my order told me this was a misprint but the marinara sauce was delicious. I noticed they had spaghetti w/​meatballs so I ordered that (not sure why this was not suggested to me, since my original request was meat sauce) assuming the sauce would be marinara. The pasta noodles were so overcooked they were like chef borardee mush, the sauce was more like ²⁄₃ oil + ¹⁄₃ tomato sauce and tons & tons of garlic. Besides the mouth full of oil all you could taste was garlic, as if you put a spoonful of fresh garlic in you mouth! The meatballs (if you want to call them that) were made of mystery meat. Comes with garlic bread which should be called garlic with a side of bread. Will never go here again, even to try other items. Their pizza may be decent (i never tried it) but after this disgusting meal, I will not try it, will stick to Fillippis! We tried Papas since we live close by and we had tried the Papas SDSU location in the past (this location is since closed) and it was not bad. Take my advice… drive a bit farther and get some decent italian food!
