End of an era. I just want to pay tribute to the place this used to be! 10 Dance Clubs in one! All kinds of music. I had so many fun nights there! Dancing the night away… Where can we go to now for 10 upscale clubs in one? Last time I was there was in 2005… Nothing lasts forever, except Divine Love!

Years ago this was the place to be seen! I can remember being allowed into the upstairs portion for friends birthdays and how much I could not wait to turn 21 and be able to join my friends on the dance floor(s)!! It used to be so much fun! They had a great hip hop room, and a gorgeous girls bathroom to take fun pictures and leave the boys wondering what we could possibly be doing in there! Each time I came back it got more crowded, and the crowds got trashier and trashier. We would leave with bruised cut up feet from getting stomped on. It finally got to the point that it was just fighting the crowds and no longer fun at all, we couldn’t leave without getting banged up and swore off ever coming back. From what I’ve heard its only continued to go downhill. I walk by and there are no longer lines but bouncers begging decently cute girls walking by to come in. Sad sad day.

This place is trash. One of the biggest reasons why I was turned off by Gaslamp nightlife was On Broadway. It’s quite a(welcome) surprise to know that the place closed – maybe now the Broadway 600 block will seem a little classier in downtown.

Wasn’t the greatest place ever, but I had some great memories here. Sad to see it go!

If you’re looking for a beautiful and spacious women’s restroom, where you can take your glamour pictures, On Broadway is definitely the place to go for this! The restroom is the best restroom I’ve seen in Downtown! lol As for the interior, the space is huge. There are multiple dance floors. And normally there is a performance going on on the upper floor, which has the biggest dance floor. Downstairs there is a room for hip hop. It gets packed in there since it’s one of the smaller rooms. But it’s a good time because the music is poppin’! There are drink specials sometimes, based on the time. Nothing really special, and you’ll always pay a pretty little penny for the better stuff, that’s life. This place gets 3 stars because sometimes I think… Is all the space really necessary? And obviously your best room is the hip hop room, so why not move it into the larger space? Maybe they are trying to make it seem like this place is the shizzle by having us crowd together in a small space. lol And I don’t think I recall the bartenders smiling or anything. But I’m pretty damn drunk when I enter a club, so who knows! lol But forreals, come here for the restroom ;).

I wish I would have listened to the reviews on here. I used to come here when I first turned 21 and it was a very nice, established place. It was only 21+ back then. Now it’s 18+/21+ every weekend? What is that? The top floor is 18+ and it was full with a bunch of east county white boys in jeans and SRH shirts and hats. What happened to «dress to impress?» The place was practically dead and they didn’t even have the red and blue rooms open so I couldn’t even at least have fun in the pretty girls bathroom. Very disappointed in the way San Diego’s night life has fallen recently.

I am sad to see this place go down the way it has. When I was 23… this was the place to be seen at! Lines would be wrapped around the building… you had to dress right(no jeans)…and people were paying at least 25 bucks with an 1.5 hour long wait to get in. I was a regular at this place long ago. Now that I am 30… this place is not how I remembered. They have an 18 and up night… you can wear what ever as long as you have the money… they used to turn people away for not looking the part… now they are desperate to get anyone to come in. I dont want to hang out with people that are my sister’s age… since they dont know how to act in a club The décor is the same… love the upstairs room. Drinks are still the same price but weaker. Hip hop room is cool… and still reeks of douche… but it was always fun to fuck with them then… as it is now :). Its great for big name DJ’s…but nothing more. Maybe I am getting older or just a club snob…1 star for making me sad that one of my favorite playgrounds has died down to what it is now :(

Love the go-go dancers! But yikes, when I am trying to dance the men get all up in my personal space. At other downtown clubs, I’ve never had this much of an issue. It’s fun to dance because everyone is dancing here, but it helps if you can find a space kind of off to the side where you can do your own thing with your friends and bust a move in peace. My friends and I found that dancing by the cushy bench seating area and the circular table in front of it totally gave us the personal space we needed. Watch out for different guys frequently touching you on your shoulder or automatically trying to dance with you really close. It happens a lot here, but if you can find an area on the side of the dance floor by the tables, you will be better off and you can still get your dance action in for the evening!

Oh hell to the no! First of all the drinks are weak and hella expensive. Second we were put on a guest list for free entry and were charged anyways while our friends were allowed to enter at no charge. When we complained, we got a shrug of the shoulders. After that we waited over 30 min each time to get a drink as bartenders looked over our head the whole night. When we were ready to leave we tipped according to our opinions of the quality of the service. I guess the number we wrote was unacceptable because the bartender changed our tip amount! I have made numerous calls to management with no returned call. I will never… ever…go back here and will passionately discourage others from coming as well.

To me, On Broadway is like that irresistable hot guy who all your friends thinks is a douchebag. You’d love to hate him, but you can’t keep yourself from going back to him. It’s true that the hype of this place has died down SO much when compared to its heyday. Not sure how it was like before, but the crowd there nowadays seems to be flooded with an army of short guys who look like they’re fresh out of high school. The 5 dancefloors that were once packed like sardine cans are now dead or blocked off as well. With all that said, it only makes sense to find somewhere else to patronize. To rid myself of this place, I’ve tried other clubs in the area only to find myself crawling back to it. There has yet to be another place where the venue’s as spacious – be it good or bad – and the music’s as good as this one. Sorry to all the haters, but my love is here to stay for this club.

Drunk, VIP, and kidnapped by Rockstars. After roadtriping from Sacramento to see an up-and-coming band at the House of Blues, my buddies and I were whisked away to this club. Upon entry we were escorted to the VIP section. Wearing basic street clothes, we were extremely under dressed and it was pretty awesome. We truly felt like Rockstars. Nothing like chillin’ next to some go-go dancers. After polishing off a bottle or two of vodka, I wandered away from the group and found another club down-stairs. It was a different world, less affluent clientele and hip-hop music. Feeling completely out-of-place I discovered the most expensive bar I’ve ever patronized. After downing a couple shots of tequila with the drummer and bassist; at this point I’m feeling particularly plastered. Suddenly its last call and we scramble to get down a few more glasses of the good stuff. Soon I am outside staggering around figuring out our sleeping arrangements. I missed the memo and end up in a cab driving across town to continue the party with the band. Next thing I know, I wake up in LA county driving north on I-5. A hangover that was definitely worth it.

There once was a time when going to On B wasn’t a horribly embarrassing thing to admit to, and a tremendous waste of time. If I wanted to get groped by a gaggle of predators, I’m sure I could do so for free. A $ 20 cover for an empty club is sinister. If I can get into the grade-A clubs for free(Fluxx, Side B, Voyeur) I’m hard pressed to shell out money to listen to Justin Bieber remixes in the company of people I can only describe as craigslist want ad contributors. There was a time when I paid upwards $ 40 to see Kaskade and Benassi spin at On B, and waited in an hour long line in the rain. But now I wouldn’t spend 40 cents on cover, and I definitely won’t be back after my last experience.

I’ve been to a lot of nightclubs in SD, and this is probably my one of my least favorites. I used to go there all the time when I was a freshman in college because they would host a lot of 18+ sorority/fraternity-sponsored events. As I got older, I realized other things… The venue itself is pretty decent. It’s a huge club with multiple stages and different types of music. I’ve also seen FarEast Movement and PItbull perform here, so I guess that’s pretty cool. My biggest drawback was the crowd… No thank you! There’s always a weird and creepy crowd lurking about. preying on their next victim. It’s definitely not a very classy place. On the bright side, they almost ALWAYS let girls in for free(on 21+ nights). What a great way to attract more creepers! And I love the girls’ downstairs bathroom! I know that’s an odd thing to say, but they have these vanity lights in the lounge that are perfect for pictures! hahaha *Random Fun Fact: This was originally a bank back in the 20s! If you noticed the circular doorways on the ground floor, those were the original vault doors!

Amazing place for the Fashion Show we attended. Ambience is set perfect. Great space for event. Great staff and set up. So improvements from an attendance would be better bar service, better bands, and a bathroom upstairs. Thank you.

Relatively speaking, 2.5−3 stars based on venue alone. Though in the broader scheme of things, On Broadway is just not crackin, so I rounded down to 2 stars. Been here twice to watch my friend DJ. With such a big venue, they have a really hard time filling this place up. The first time I came here, it was an 18+ event, free for 21+. The downstairs floor was closed… lame. The second time I came here, they had $ 5 well drink & shot specials, so that was a plus(though the drinks were hella watered down). But even with that, the place was empty! The crowd started filling in later on in the evening, but the dance floor was still pitiful. Normally, I don’t like to judge the type of crowd at clubs when I write reviews — to me, music is more important — but still, I want there to be at least SOME sort of crowd — any crowd! Otherwise, what is the point of going out? I might as well stay home and have a dance party by myself. While the DJs are decent and the venue is clean and well-decorated, On Broadway is still just… kinda boring, unfortunately. Don’t get me wrong, I hate overcrowded dance floors. But there is a fine line between having enough space to dance and having enough space to lie down and take a nap because the club is so boring. My overall recommendation — I would definitely not pay to get in here, and if you do come through, drink a lot beforehand.

I usually stray away from reviewing San Diego Downtown clubs, because well, it’s always the«same old same old» ya know?! .but in this case I’ll make an exception, because I have had many memories from this particular club(both good and bad) just like relationships; some you choose to remember and others you wish you’d forget. People come and go and so does my love for certain clubs. I was just recently here for a friend’s birthday bash. I haven’t been to a San Diego club in forever it seems. Kinda over that scene. I prefer lounges instead, but decided to take a trip to celebrate a good friend’s 28th! If I can recall correctly, the last time I was at «On B» prior to this last event was waaay back in 2007. What can I say? Some things never change. Same uptight bouncers, same expensive cover fee even if you’re on a guestlist(DISCOUNT price? uh huh suuuure!), same ridiculously priced $ 10/shot, same picture taking extravaganza in the ladies room(Yes.I ‘m guilty. it does have the BESTLIGHTING. haha), and same overly packed hip-hop room where you barely can get on the dancefloor without getting stepped on or head butted. Yes. MUSTHOLDHANDS or you’re SCREWED! hehe Must have been an MJ tribute night since some of his classic jams were playing upstairs. I actually prefer dancing where there is more room to maneuver and the top floor was more than spacious for my moonwalk attempt… or at least I thought I could. «Totally sucks to be a girl in heels right now.» On the other hand, I did take advantage of the live music and boogied down for a good while with my homey Chris Chan! «ShayShay» dance wha?! Anywhoos.good enough I’m a cheap date. After one cocktail(pineapple vodka) and one shot, I was on a happy buzz! haha! Thank you low tolerance! Familiar wall décor were on display reminding me of my younger and wild days of partying it up in here. Oh and my favorite room of all: «the 80s room»!!! But sadly, it didn’t seem that all 80’s-like. Where’s my Madonna’s «Like a Virgin» signature song or Cyndi Lauper ?! This wasn’t the 80s room I so fondly remembered. Boo. You lose a star«On B.» Reunions GALORE! Met up with some friends I haven’t seen in awhiiiile! Caught up with them and hung out with the celebrant for a good minute! Yes. that made up for the whole night! Reunions are just thee best aren’t they? =p Conversed, drank, mingled, danced, and took a few photo snaps and before you knew it, it was time to say goodbye. As the«pimpette» of the crew I came with, I want to thank«the boys» for taking care of me and showing me a good time! Shout out to Chris V. aka Cebo for FINALLY coming out to play and Christian G. for being our DD. Lisa T. aka LL was there in spirit(as usual) hehe. Overall, it was a fun-filled Friday night, but mostly because of the company! Oh «On B,» you just get 3 stars from me. Not great and not bad. I know. No love in this club.

Cover is crazy, drinks are crazy(not in a good way… in a this-shit-is-watered-down-but-$ 12-a-DRANK-and-I’m-not-even-feelin-a-lil-buzzed kinda way), dudes are unappealing — an unfortunate mix of popped-collared-‘oooh-mami-you-lookin’-fine-tonight’ punchfaces(to which I mentally and facially reply, ‘o.m.f.g. r u jking? srsly?’ dumbf*ck) and the others barely reaching 5’5″. But many of the clientele is of the Asian persuasion so the height(or lack thereof) issue should be expected but man, I just… I just lol. ANYWAY, the house/trance/techno dance floor is quite spacious but the downstairs Top 40/Hip-Hop room reeks with ghetto stenches(sweat, weed) and even more guys of the undesirable sort. For the cover being so high($ 20), you’re basically contributing to the interior decorator’s bill BECAUSE the décor is quite modern, colorful and cosmopolitan. Fights, heckling and drunkenly shouted expletives usually occur on the adjacent sidewalk after the club is closed — and ghetto behavior will definitely bring a star or two down on my oh-so-lenient-club-reviews ;)

If I had rated this place prior to my last experience there last Friday, it would be 4 stars. I would have to say that On Broadway is probably my favorite club in San Diego… all those different rooms make it easy to evade creepy guys(I finally found that illusive 5th room that everyone keeps talking about). BUT this last time I went, there were creepy guys lurking EVERYWHERE! Half the dance floor was filled with guys just walking in slow motion while looking for some girl to hump. Not cool. Supposedly, Chingy(remember him?) was celebrating his birthday there so my friends had to pay a $ 10 cover. I was there earlier having dinner at Zen Café so I was already in without having to pay cover.
