Great décor, service, and hookah(recommend the al-fakher brand). It’s kind of in a random location, but well worth the hike. Looking forward to checking out their arabian nights on thursday, one can never get too much arabic music ;)

That yanni, always parking his lambo in the handicap spot thinking he’s all that and a bag of Doritos while I’m driving my Honda Accord, I’m furious. I approached him and he said my business my rules, I will never go here again! Haha, joking Nara has to be one of not the best hookah lounges in SD, great location, outstanding customer service the vibe here is always good never any problem. Yanni also gives great advice to up and coming people. Never any problems with service, the employees are great and I always enjoy my time when I stop by after work just to hang out, read and smoke some good going. Watermelon and blue mist is great and it’s not because I’m black I just like watermelon naturally.

Great hookah bar! Nara is probably one of the best hookah bars in town. Not only is it decorated beautifully, they also play great music and the service is wonderful. They have a bar here as well, which is great. I’ve never been disappointed here before. You can tell the owner/manager cares about his establishment because this hookah bar has been consistent the past couple of years I have gone.

Been to a lot of hookah places in my days gotta say this is the best one. Belly dancers are amazing beautiful as heck. I have been to a lot of places and been rushed to smoke n leave but the people here are great. I met the owner once he came and asked us if there was anything he can do for us something that surprised me and kept me going back. Him making sure we were happy meant a lot. If ur looking for a great experience I recommend this place. I drive from Orange County to come back since I have moved. Love this place

Was visiting San Diego for the first time with my wife and happened to find this place randomly, and I couldn’t have been happier. I’m very picky about my shesha and the way it is made and this place is so clean and so good that I had to stop there a few times during my trip. During my visits I observed the staff to learn more about this spot and I noticed that unlike any other hookah bar I have ever been to, the staff was very attentive to customers and their needs and then I met Yanni(The owner) and that explained it all. Yanni is such an amazing very well educated individual and I totally see why everyone that works for him is always happy to be there. The shesha is very clean, the atmosphere and environment of the place is awesome and very relaxing. Go there and you will not regret it. Loved this place.

Went at an off time so it was pretty empty, not great for a early evening spot, so my experience may be a little off, there were just two couple cuddling in opposite corners of the lounge, sort of weird. The staff very attentive and helpful, seemed like it would have a cool vibe on a Friday or Saturday night. Bummed Unilocal was wrong about the full bar, its beer and wine only, but they make wine cocktails…

BEWARE When you want to be cheap and ask the waiter for water with your hookah, make sure he’s serving you free cups of water instead of charging you 2 water bottles for 5 dollars without even asking. Such a sneaky, shitty thing to do. Hookah sucks, service sucks, it’s super shady. Go someplace else.

Nara Ultra Lounge is by far one of the best hookah lounges I’ve ever been to. Gorgeous décor, great atmosphere and fun mixed music. The service was quick and top not to mention the hookah was very smooth and tasteful. The owner Yanni is awesome, very personable and attentive. Will definitely come back… love this place

Ask about their secret menu. I’ve been to a lot of hookah lounges and to me a lot of the are low class or ghetto. Most of them you have to go to the counter, not here. They have attentive servers that come to you and are very knowledgeable about shesha. And none of this you only get so many coals BS. They tend to your coals and make sure your experience is a good one. The décor is awesome.

This is by far the best lounge in the area. The owner Yani is a stand up guy. He makes sure to interact with everyone and truly cares to make sure everyone has a stand up experiance. The hookahs are priced reasonably and they always have great deals. If you are looking for a good spot to relax this is the place!

Holy crap. I came here Friday night with my friends and I didn’t know there were hookah lounges that still use circular quick lights. I was getting a headache smoking out of it. They mostly have Starbuzz flavors only, very few limited flavors of Fumari, Al Fakher, Nakla, etc. Reminded me of when I first packed hookah for myself using cheap hookah set I got from my friend as a gift that included circular cheap quick lights and cheap Chinese hookah although this place used Caravans. I asked for coconut charcoals bcz I saw that other client was served coconut coals. They didn’t seem happy to serve it to us and took them 20 minutes to come out with small rectangular sized coconut coals and reluctantly served it to us. By the time it came, hookah bowl was contaminated from quick lights and bowl was close to burnt out. Got weak clouds. Forced gratuity. If you don’t care about hookah quality and just care about ambiance, then go ahead, i guess this place works. But for hookah enthusiasts like myself, quality of hookah from this place is at a beginner’s level.

I went to this place with high expectations given the previous Unilocal reviews. I am sad to say that my experience was the complete opposite of what I anticipated. Service The service was terrible. For a Saturday night, there was only one waiter going around and two other guys who strictly handed menus and brought out hookah. There were roughly seven or eight parties there and the waiter had trouble getting around in an adequate time. I asked if they had dessert and the employee said he would check and get back to me. He ended up doing neither. I ordered an ice tip and it looked disgustingly yellow and had pieces of coal smudged along the outside. I asked one of the guys if it can be replaced and his response, «they are all like that.» So I asked if it could at least be wiped down and he came back with a paper towel and simply handed it to me. When they came around to give new coals, they didn’t even clean the top of the bowl but just placed it on top of all the debris from the previous coal set. Hookah This place rates a 4 out of 10 for hookah. It was harsh from the start and they use artificial round coals while most places migrated to the use of natural coconut coals. The tobacco was overpacked and the hole poking into the foil was amateur. Don’t recommend going here for either service or hookah.

From one Hookah lounge owner to another this place is hands down the best place in town from the atmosphere to the ownership. Yanni takes pride in all that he does in and out of the lounge, he always has and he always will and I’m very proud of him. If you are unhappy in any way please bring it to his attention, no doubt he will make things better right on the spot. 5 stars Nara !!! –Bruce Le

I am such a hookah snob. I make it a point, on every vacation, to stop at as many hookah bars as possible. We stopped at Nara on a trip through California, from Portland, OR. It was the best hookah bar we stopped at in southern California. The atmosphere is so great, classy, with an amazing art piece. They have so many great shisha flavors. Our hookah was ready for us in a timely manner, the coals they used were great quality, and the customer service was wonderful. I would be interested to see what the place is like on the weekends, because we went on a Wednesday after a day at the beach. I will make sure to put going back to Nara on the list of things we MUST do in San Diego on our next California trip.

I really LOVE this Hookah lounge. I went there while I was visiting my friends. It was very close to her house so we decided to try it out. I’m so glad we did. We loved it so much I ended up going 2 more times in my 1 week visit in SD. The place is classy but yet laid back and relaxing. Loved the décor and atmosphere. The staff was super friendly and attentive. They made the hookahs to our liking since all 5 of us wanted different flavors, and kept on changing the coals and checking on our drinks during the whole time we were there. At some point even the owner came to check up on us. So overall a 5 star experience. Definitely one of the Best Hookah lounges I’ve ever been too.

This place is probably the nicest hookah lounge in San Diego. It recently opened up and is the only hookah lounge in the Kearny Mesa Area. I like that it is central and you don’t have to go to downtown or la jolla just to smoke hookah. Limited parking inside the plaza, but plentiful of street parking as well. I love the decoration in here. Very spacious. All the chairs and tables are equally distant from each other which gives you more privacy. They have sectional couches that slightly wrap around the table so that you and all your friends can see each other. Very upscale wooden floors and walls. Absolutely love the artwork on one wall and royal purple fabric on the other. Nice big bar with live DJs performing from time to time. Offer beers on tap and many other drinks/food. They play pretty good music. I’ve been here twice. The first time i came here was on a thursday night, there was a lot of people that filled up all the tables, but definitely not crowded to where its hard to walk. They had light up shot glass necklaces all over the tables which was cool. Second time was on a saturday night, it was pretty empty. Noticed there was a mini birthday party in the middle with balloons setup around the table which i thought was nice. So i guess it’s pretty random on whether this place ever gets packed or not. Hookah tasted great. They offer hookah hoses with an extension at the tip where you can put ice inside a plastic tube which makes the hookah cold. It really makes the hookah taste better. But they do charge for the ice. Overall great place to chill.
