Anybody know if they moved? Or just went out of business? Was good food, decent portions, very quick service and great prices.

I used to frequent this place regularly in years past when the food was better(not sure if a management/ownership change took place over the last year and a half or so). I stopped going because I found that the quality of food had dipped below what I care for, but I always like to give a place multiple chances to capture my business. Especially since this is so close to work and the prices are very reasonable. Unfortunately, I was disappointed once again. The place is very clean and orderly. The cashiers were very polite, the food came out quickly, and prices were moderate. Apart from that, ehhhhhh. Ordered the Chicken Teriyaki plate and found the chicken to be a bit bland and the teriyaki sauce too strong… maybe because they chicken is so lacking. The rice was fine, but gawd, the vegetables tasted like they had been boiled way too long. No bite or remaining flavor left to them. I mean, it’s edible and you get quite a bit of food for your buck, but there are so many other choices in the area that do a better job. Will not be going back.

i heard it twice. that little voice in my head–«run, yosh, run». first when i rolled up and saw the generic posters on the windows. and a second time as i walked in and scoped the scene. but sometimes hungry people do some silly shiyiiit– so, against my better judgment i stayed. ordered the california steak wrap… …awww man, i’ve never eaten dirty gym socks before, but now i think i have a pretty good idea of what the flavor might be like. the«steak» had that funky sour taste unique to old meat. ugggh. mix that with an overly sweet teri-yucki sauce, add a soggy tortilla and you pretty much have the perfect storm of nasty goin on in ur mouth. offensive.

The Teriyaki rice plates and the Hawaiian dishes are both excellent! The service is CRAZYFAST and the food is always fresh and hot! The prices are low and the self-service chili-sauce is great! I wish they had sides.anything.

Food was of decent quality. Veggies lack flavor but well cooked(not over done). I would stop by again if in the area but wouldn’t go out of the way for it.

Came here with a friend. I ordered the Chicken California wrap(~$ 6). The wrap tortilla was interesting. You could tell it was homemade. The wrap was huge, but it was mainly filled with rice. I took the wrap apart and sauced it with teriyaki and chili sauce because it was bland. The service was average. It is an awesome place to go if you need your food quick. The place is located on the corner of Kearny Mesa. Overall, the wrap was not as good as I expected and I would not recommend it. I do want to try this place again since it appears many rave about the teriyaki chicken, steak, etc…

Reggie Ramos stated that Mrs Rice’s is BEST4U… so I decided to take a chance and order the Bar B Q Mix. I was mislead :(…Mrs Rice’s is a fantastic place to bring your dog because it is not suitable for humans. The BBQ was fatty, overcooked, it had a horrible flavor and had lots of bones.

I used to live right over here when they built condos ontop of the nuclear-laced soil that used to house General Dynamics. This could be the reason why Mrs. Rice is so damn good… Anyhow, I ALWAYS ordered the Teri Chicken and Steak combo. Steak is nice and tender and the chicken is thigh meat as it SHOULD be. Sauce is perfectly sweet and tangy and they give you a ton of food. I always leave here full and satisfied and its a perfect lunch spot. Thanks Mrs. Rice, whoever you are!

I love this place. I startred eating there when it first opened. I went again yesterday and had my favorite the California Chicken Wrap. Its so good. I love avocado and hey don’t dissapoint. The wraps are normally pretty big. You could probably split it with someone. Go to this place! Its so good. The food isn’t greasy and I think its pretty healthy.

I’ve been eating here every week for the past year and it still tastes awesome. The food hits the spot and is easy on the wallet. I recommend the Teriyaki Chicken Wrap or the BBQ Chicken Bowl. Add in a little Siracha hot sauce to complete it.

Great place for a quick and not-too-heavy lunch if you work in the Kearny Mesa area. Mrs. Rice’s specializes on rice bowls with different sorts of meat(BBQ style) and vegetables. Their main item seems to be the Teriyaki Chicken Bowl which comes with white rice, some steamed vegetables and BBQ chicken slices with Teriyaki sauce on top it. Pretty good stuff and unfortunately addictive. You’ll end up paying about $ 5 for your quick lunch– reasonable, I would say! They also offers fresh wraps and rips, I haven’t tried these yet. Soft drinks are $ 1.50 — $ 2. Fast service, good food, and great deals– Mrs Rice’s is one of the best lunch options around.

When I am looking for good Hawaiian BBQ I have to say that Mrs. Rice is by far my favorite in San Diego. I always get the BBQ chicken combo which I order by the picture on the wall. The chicken is flavorful and I love the macaroni salad. The BBQ beef is good as well. I do suggest some Sriracha chili sauce to go along with the combo. The restaurant is very clean and the service is friendly and quick. I think that they beat out L&L BBQ by miles!

Cheap prices, spare ribs & rice! Enough said I am sold. Downside is the wierd hours(Close at 8PM on Fridays, Closed Sundays, etc. etc.), but perfect spot for some chicken and spare ribs at a great price. I can’t believe it took me this long to try it. I have also heard that the wraps are really good, but haven’t tried it myself.

Hawaiian BBQ… can it be better? yes. Can it be better for lunch for the price? probably no. This is a staple for lunch, if I’ve somehow managed to skip breakfast. They somehow have the mac n’ cheese just perfect, I would go for just the mac n’ cheese, but I also get some rice. A mix of chicken, shortribs and skirt steak does it for me. I get some hot sauce to contrast the sweetness. Thank you Mrs. Rice!

2.5, How much can you screw up Hawaiian BBQ? Not much. Mrs. Rice is your typical Hawaiian BBQ mix… very clean inside, quite quick and effcient. Nothing shocking, nothing great… just like all the other 100,000x Hawaiian BBQs out there. I don’t see why people should come here for the food, besides, you can’t find parking either…

I have been driving by this place for a couple of years, and never made it in. I am picky about my teriyaki bowls, so Nilo’s review convinced me to give it a try. First time I tried to take my son on a saturday because he loves teriyaki bowls. we get there at 3:40 pm, and they closed at 3 pm! That was a bummer. So today, I finally made it in. I order my bowl… wow the prices are dirt cheap, I spent more money on gas getting to this place(my meal was less than $ 4). The veggies seemed fresh, but the teriyaki was not as sweet as i like, so i added some sugar to make it nice. I think for the price the place is great… would have given them 4 stars, but they did not have Tofu Teriyaki so I had to take a star off for that.

Mrs. Rice is where to get your Hawaiian food fix in Kearny Mesa. The meat isn’t too fatty and the marinade is all right. I always get double mac salad instead of rice because they have the mayo to pasta ratio down to a science. Service is quick and efficient. No soda fountain but they have a decent selection of cold drinks.
