One of my favorite local coffee shops and I’m soooo SAD that they are NOWCLOSED as of Wednesday October 23, 2013.(see their website & my photo of their website) I have been coming here for the last 2 years. It’s such a great small spot with a chill outdoor patio. Never too crowded or too empty, plenty of parking in the neighborhood and really good coffee and food options! I’m really going to miss this place…

I guess at Monica’s, $ 9 buys you a crappy turkey-brie sandwich, limp salad, diet coke and superslow service with a snarl. This was what we encountered on Memorial Day. 2 stars for the cute setup. It is really, really, cute inside and had a nice patio area. My friend ordered a tuna melt and it did not have any visible cheese, nor was it toasted. She was informed that the cheese was not visible because it was melted. It was a massive imposition that she asked for another slice of cheese. The two people working gave each other the, «I can’t believe this bitch has the nerve to ask for more cheese eyes.» I watched her stand up in front of the register trying to get someone’s attention for at least 5 minutes. It was clear she was being ignored. The older woman working did not treat her with any respect. I don’t think it matters whether the cheese was present or melted or whatever the hell is going on: be respectful toward your customers. My turkey-brie sandwich was okay; just kind of drab and boring. I would never order it again, very lackluster. The side– salad conisisted of nothing but lettuce. All of the other pictures of scrambles and paninis look delicious. It was pretty disappointing. Overall: Cute place, awful attitude, slow service(place was empty), sub-par tuna melt, turkey-brie sandwich, and salad. I felt ripped off by the quality/price of the food. Won’t be back unless the food and attitude improve. Based upon other Unilocal reviews, service seems to be hit or miss. There are far too many restaraunts in Uni heights to mess with this again. I would recommend Big Front Door down on Park any day over this place. Delicious food and friendly service. The prices are in the same ballpark but the quality and service are excellent. Oh, pics to come of my food from here– sad turkey-brie sandwich with side-salad.

I had some breakfast here at Monica’s. Given it was Christmas Eve, they were only preparing breakfast sandwiches for breakfast. I did get lucky though, because apparently, I had the last whole wheat bagel. My bagel sandwich was good. The egg was nice and fluffy, cheese was good, but it could of used more bacon. It was hardly noticeable. The Bagel itself was good but was slightly dry, perhaps because it was the last one. The house drip coffee I had was very good. Overall, this is a nice place. It is a single family home converted to a café. Nice place to come and kick back and relax.
