As far as Mira Mesa goes most people think of this Marketcenter when they think of it… it has the Edwards theater and a good variety of restaurants as well as shopping — grocery, home improvement and clothing. It really does have everything. Parking can be annoying on a Friday during a big movie release though, a lot of the overflow goes into the parking lot with the grocery store and they walk over.

I pretty much love this shopping complex. It has so many different thing compacted into one place. I usually go to this theater to watch movies as well, it is big and clean. I like Ross, I like Panera, and I adore the Barnes & noble with the added on Starbucks. A good place to grab coffee and get lost in a book. Unfortunately I tried the Butterbeer off the secret menu and hated it! I guess that isn’t anyone’s fault per se, but it left a bad taste in my mouth nonetheless…

The movie theater and the Barnes and Noble are nice to have in one spot. The restaurants are great too. Just really needs dedicated motorcycle/scooter parking spots. It can get really bad trying to find a regular parking spot, but having dedicated two wheel spots would be great.

Always hopping, always busy, always full. Just like Mira Mesa, probably the busiest suburban hub in all of San Diego. The first thing you see right off the fwy are the movie theaters, then the long line of cars from the fwy leading to the turn signals at Mira Mesa Blvd. –entering the Marketplace’s doorway. Keep your eye on the stoplights, they have cameras that give out tickets. Full of hustle and bustle. Parking spaces are narrow and cramped. Keep your head on a swivel because folks in this area don’t drive very well nor do they care much about pedestrians. During the Holidays or especially Friday/Saturday nights, parking can be a real pain the ass as the Edwards Theaters and restaurants command the most attention. Shopping choices are abundant. Food fare is decent. Built primarily to serve the middle class families within the area while providing decent offerings to the more affluent. Utilitarian, nothing flashy, standardized(this marketplace has many clones in neighboring cities) and is slowly becoming overwhelmed due to the growing community(more homes and condos are being built nearby) around it. I expect the logistics to getting into this area to get even worse as time goes on. You’ll be better off having someone dropping you off and picking you up later. If you have to go here, do so. But be ready for a little hassle. Your patience is critical. At least you have other options to shop up and down the 15 fwy.

This is a happy hour choice my friend and I go to after work. I eat at the bar… and drink some too. We like the girl behind the bar, i can say she makes a good and dry saphire martini… shaken not stirred in a deep glass.

I am a total consumer. I totally lame consumer that is. I love movies, coffee, books, shopping etc. So this shopping center is my dream come true. I can get dinner at one of many great dining establishments, grab a coffee at Starbucks, browse the books at Barnes and Nobles, and bargain shop at Ross, all after going to a movie. Love southern California!

This used to be the spot where my girls and I would hang & relax. We’d grab coffee from SBux or grab smoothies at Jamba and just chill, shoot the shnit and people watch and we’d always have such a great time! This place attracts enough people to be entertaining without feeling too crowded or rowdy. Bike night is also held here so if you don’t want to come when it’s way crowded, don’t come on Thursday nights or Sunday mornings. If you’re hungry, there are sandwich/burger places, Americanized thai/greek/mexican food and a grocery store if none sound appetizing. There is an ice cream shoppe to get your dessert on if Jamba or SBux isn’t for you. There are a lot of businesses around the area that fit your hobbies– clothing stores, books, movies, projects, home improvement etc. If you’re looking for a great spot to hang with your friends, this place will cater to each individual want in food/dessert/beverages saving time in answering the question that typically arise among groups, the infamous, «where should we go?» But then again, it’s just my opinion.

Does the parking suck here? Sure does! But, there are quite a number of places here that make the Marketplace worth visiting — Barnes & Noble, Panera Bread, Islands, Buca di Beppo, and Edwards 18 especially stand out. There’s even a discount store(Ross) as well. Just have patience finding a parking spot, and you’ll be fine.

Yes Scott — this place is a nightmare on weekends. If you thought parking was bad during the week… & that is with the parents dropping their kids off for movie day care night. I do like the Panera bread and the barnes and noble right across the way, and even the Islands restaurant(still trying to forget about the ecoli days there). However, you are right. With 50 acres of space, you think there could have been something more constructive with this place. It represents Mira Mesa — a smidgeon of unnecessary, two cups of boredom, and a dumptruck load of traffic. Oh yeah, back to the theater — it’s okay, great comfortable seats, but I still can’t figure out how 4 movies were the same & they still couldn’t have one between 8:45 and 10? probably an oversight

It’s funny– do most people not even consider Mira Mesa Market Center a «place»? Why is that? Because it is not under one roof? Probably the saddest thing about this shopping area is there is enough space, traffic & good tenants that something interesting could have been developed here instead of what is basically an over sized suburban mini mall. I literally shudder to think what the Edwards Cinema is like on the weekends.
