Michel Benaroch personally did my hair on 2 occasions. After the first visit I had to come back and have it fixed as it was not at all what I asked for even though I brought pictures and was very specific. I came back to give him another chance and my hair looks terrible. For these prices your hair should be exactly what you want, I frankly had better highlights done at the beauty school.

I must say that for the price of a haircut, I am always disappointed. Would gladly pay a premium for a good cut. Finally stopped going here. Interesting that the branch in La Jolla is rated so well.

The reception borders on hostile and the owners are pretentious. I spent a ton of money and got an equally decent cut and color at a salon ¼ the price. Plus the hot water in the rinsing area is a problem and I got my skull burned. My advice — skip it!

After getting my hair literally shredded at Jet Rhys salon(look at the pics I’ve posted from that hair cut), my hair nightmare is finally over thanks to Michel. I’ve been going to Michel for almost 2 years now. I can sit in Michel’s chair with closed eyes knowing he’ll never ruin my hair. It’s not easy to fix a totally shredded hair and making it look good, but Michel, being a great stylist that he is, managed to some how fix my hair. I always have face framing layers and I can easily go about 3 month without needing a trim cause the layers that Michel cuts are PERFECT. Take Kristen O’s review with a grain of salt. Least talented!!! Look at the galleries at this salon’s website and you be the judge. In my 2 years experience at this salon, I’ve never been asked, let alone pushed to buy any product or services. Being and adult, no one can really PRESSURE me to do or buy anything I don’t want. Every one at this salon is nice and professional. If you enjoy being surrounded by pretentious individuals when going to a high end salon(such at Jet Rhys) this is not the place for you. Thanks Michel for yet another great hair cut.

Michel Benaroch has been cutting my hair & giving me highlights for at least 10 years. He has fantastic skills & always knows exactly what to do to my hair to make me feel fabulous. My only caveat is to schedule your appointments early because he is busy & books up fast. Michel is a great guy and I highly recommend him!

Michel Benaroch is the quintessential and consummate master stylist, and North County San Diego is lucky he gave up his celebrity clientele and moved from LA to open shop here. Superstar service in convenient SantaLuz. Thanks so much Michel for being here for us!

I moved out to CA and DREADED finding a salon, let alone a specific stylist, who would do what I want. Luckily my Aunt referred me to Sumika. She is great! I initially tried her out of a desperate at-home botch job. She suggested what would work better for me and explained how she’d do it. The color came out great. I change my hair almost every time I go to the salon, so my intervals are a little longer. She helped me pick a great base the past two times. Not to mention she listens to what I want in my cut. I hate when stylists«have to» «trim» your hair and you walk out with 2 inches gone. Sumika actually trimmed my hair and then worked with the actual layers/cut just how they needed to be in order for me to grow them out(like I want). My hair looks great every time I walk out of there. I wish my color held longer, but it never has, so it’s not really the salon’s fault. Sumika is great for suggestions if you’re open to them, but will also do what you ask. Perfect! The minus a star is because, ideally, the salon would be cheaper. But they’re right around standard industry prices, maybe Slightly higher. I don’t mind as much when I KNOW that its a good job though. I’ve just been spoiled by friends who went to hair school and were doing my hair at product cost prior to moving out here. Anyways, Sumika is awesome!

Prior to becoming a mother, I’ve had a successful career in the fashion industry. During my career, many of the world’s top stylists have worked with my hair. Until finding Michele, via word-of-mouth, I’ve NEVER had a colorist get my hair color quite right. My natural color is a «mousy dishwater blonde» that Michele is able to transform, via highlighting, into a beautiful natural looking blonde without any unwanted brassiness. Michele is also able to maintain the integrity of my hair. Despite the coloring, it is long and healthy. I have also found his staff to be very helpful in scheduling and rescheduling my appointments which is a huge deal for me in my very busy life. I always feel well cared for and important. I’m so fortunate to have found this salon.

Disappointing! I was introduced to Elena at a work holiday party and impressed by her business card containing pictures of a few of her clients. I asked for a cut and full foil. I had long blond hair and wanted the roots touched up and the back evened out to the same color as the rest of my hair as it was darker underneath. I also asked for a Victoria Beckam style A-line bob. She said no problem. She colored my hair and then cut it into a shoulder Length bob with no A-line. I asked her to shorten it up to my chin as that is what I asked for. She shortened the length to about an inch below my chin. I then left the salon. I got down the road and stopped at a store and as I walked in I saw my reflection in the store window. I hated it. It was extremely full at the bottom and poof-ed out. I was told it looked like I had one of those seashell pasta noodles on top of me head. I turned around and went back to the salon. Elena was shampooing someone’s hair when I walked in so I told her I’d wait until she was done. When she finished I explained to her I still wasn’t happy and that it looked nothing like the cut I asked for. I showed her several pictures and asked if she had time later that afternoon to fix it. She told me it had to be now because she didn’t have time later in the day.(what about the client she just had in the chair? that was actually the receptionist. Me, the paying client, had to wait for her to finish playing with a coworkers hair before I could be helped.) She sat me down in her chair and said«third time’s the charm». Unfortunately, it wasn’t. She thinned it out and brought up the back a little so it was more A-line but still looked nothing like the picture. I gave up. After 4 hours, missing my afternoon meeting and three attempts I realized it just wasn’t going to happen. Clearly we weren’t communicating on the same level and saw two different things looking at the same picture. Elena was very nice but I still spent over $ 200.00 and left unhappy. The icing on the cake was when I got home and looked at the back of my hair in the mirror I saw that she only did a partial foil. Needless to say I’m not going back.
