I’m really surprised by the comments about the bad service. Maybe I just lucked out and got the best server Dani. As soon as I walked in she acknowledged me and was super friendly and attentive. I sat at the counter so maybe that makes a difference. Got the quinoa skillet bc feeling like I needed something fresh for breakfast after a heavy dinner. Arugula and quinoa avocado and roasted tomatoes. Wish it had more tomatoes. Dani recommended the 9 grain toast and she was right it was perfect bc I needed a starch and the toast was crunchy. The butter was already soft so easy to spread. She brought me water even though I had my coffee. It is a little pricey since that was 20 bucks but convenient and clean and spacious if ur staying at that hotel.

Unbelievably expensive for a breakfast place. My kids and I ate a simple breakfast that would have cost $ 25 total at an average breakfast diner. Our tab at Maryjane’s was $ 71. The food was okay, but the price on all items was way out of whack.

Loaded up fries, spicy tortilla soup and big juicy burgers are all solid reasons to hit this joint when you need to refuel. Vibe is retro diner with a music theme. Staff knows their stuff and hustles.

I got breakfast here only because I was staying at the Hard Rock Hotel and was both starving and pressed for time on this particular day. The service was not terrible, but it was not friendly or attentive at all. The food was truly«meh» and was worse than that for the price. I would recommend taking a few extra minutes to walk somewhere else for breakfast rather than going here.

Mary Jane’s is a diner located in the Hard Rock Hotel. Good breakfast selection and they have mimosas and bloody mary’s(and a build your own bloody mary station). Food was good; I enjoyed the hash browns and I’m not a potato person. Service was decent. Our booth had a tv with the football game on so that was cool. Only bummer was the cost… for two of us the total was $ 45. Being downtown though we expected to pay that amount or more wherever we went to eat.

Do not order the quinoa burger. I thought it would be different and exciting, but it completely fell apart and had no sauces or flavor.

Breanne was the best bartender ever! She made sure we were good all morning into the game unlimited mimosas

Service was bad. Food was so so. It’s a chain so I wasn’t expecting too much. I did like the booth had its own tv

We were staying at the Hard Rock Hotel and instead of calling room service we ordered here. We called in our order and walked downstairs since MJ’s is located in the hotel. We picked up our food and the server that helped us was a grouch — we basically got our food and paid. No hi, no thank you, not even a smile. .. we tried being nice but all we got was silence. Jerk. As soon as we walked out, we decided that he stressed us out so we needed a couple shots before we went back to our room. .. we decided to go back in. We went to the bar and dammit, the same jerk was there! Such luck! He saw us and looked away real fast. WTF?! It was obvious he was avoiding us. No one else was in the bar area and the other servers looked busy. We were hungry, not in the mood for drama and after a few minutes of just staring at him we just left. Not sure what was up this fool that day but other than the bad service, the food wasn’t that great(my burger and fries were hella salty) and the prices are way too high. You’re better off walking a couple blocks and getting better food for a decent price.

Our waiter, Mark, was just a jerk. Our table of 6 of some of the most positive people you’d ever meet, including life-coaches, were just stunned. My chocolate cake came out without the whipped cream as stated on the menu. I got such a great eye-roll when I asked him for the cream. Just flat out rude. My friend’s Arugula salad was 1⁄3rd old yellowed leaves, see photo. All the food was just«meh». Don’t waste your time nor money here.

One word for this place: Expensive Wife and I paid $ 40 for corned beef hash and a breakfast sandwich. The food was on par with any breakfast restaurant but nothing special. If they had reasonable prices for what they offer I would go back. Not really much else to say about this place.

I don’t know what happened to their breakfast menu, it seems to have shrunk since I’ve been here last. Horrible breakfast selection. If you order pancakes, waffles or French Toast(each plate $ 13) that’s all you get, no sides! Add bacon for $ 5 are you kidding! Won’t be back here for breakfast that’s for sure. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. After receiving our food and trying a bite we had to walk out. Pancakes taste like dry batter. French Toast taste like a dry sponge. So disappointed. Breakfast is not hard to make and have it taste decent.

I don’t know how obliterated you need to be for this food to be good but I’m quite sure you need to basically be completely passed out. It’s overpriced and overall just inedible. C’mon Hard Rock get it together. You have enough recourses to make nachos. Take your chances on a danger dog or save the calories. You’ll thank me for not wasting your time and money!

Service was pretty good. Staff sort of friendly. I did not like that we could hear the staff discussing work issues while we were eating, not too professional. We each ordered the potato soup and a Caesar salad to split. The potato soup was amazing, flavorful and rich but in a really good way. Great garnish too, just the right amount of bacon and chives. I’m thinking lots o cream in the soup mix, one of those things that you know is not going to be good for your waistline but… do do it anyway! You won’t regret it, best potato soup I have ever had. Huge portion, more like a meal than a side. Great deal, $ 6 bucks, can’t beat that. The Caesar salad was really good as a side, enough for two. I would definitely order both of these items again, and again! lol Ordered two draft Stella’s with our meal, $ 8 bucks. Go to happy hour for your drinks, plenty of them in the Gaslamp Quarter.

I just had a palate melt down trying the new dishes this place has to offer. I love the layout, love the service and really enjoy the new options. Try the late night menu and definitely order the dry rub wings!!!

Stopped by here for a quick lunch across the street at the convention center. I had the Griddled Ham and cheese on sourdough. Wifey had the BLAT and she loved it. Great fast service, great people watching from the patio. Would recommend.

Average Service, Average Food, High Prices MaryJane’s is located at the Hard Rock Hotel. It has the retro-décor of an old diner. I wandered around the restaurant for almost 5 minutes before I had to walk up to a server to get a table. It was almost empty and some of the staff were chatting and could not seem to break away from their conversations to help me. The server who sat me ended up being very nice and helpful. The menu had the basics of a breakfast and lunch pup menu. Not wanting to clog my coronary arteries so early in the day, I ordered a small house salad. It was fine. Not amazing but then when is a house salad ever amazing? The honey mustard dressing was a bit too sweet. Next, I had the mahi fish tacos. The fish was good as was the Mexican slaw. I had a side of guacamole that was so small it was ridiculous, especially considering it was $ 3.00 extra and clearly mixed with a lot of things that were not avocado. To drink I had an ice tea. Bottom line: A small house salad, two small fish tacos, a side of guac, and an ice tea should never ever cost $ 33.00. Ever.

Went to Maryjanes for lunch today, and thought the food was good, yet very expensive. I ordered the chicken pesto sandwich with mozzarella cheese and it was about $ 16 need I say this was for lunch. My friend ordered a «make your own burger» and the pricing for that started at $ 15.50 in which they charge extra for cheese, sauces, and toppings. The décor of Maryjanes is very cute and retro. It makes you feel like you are in an episode of the Jetsons. Would I go back to Maryjanes? Possibly, if they were running a decent special. The taste of the food is no where near what I would expect it to taste like for the price they are charging.

I was all primed to give this joint a 4-star review, but honestly, the food wasn’t that great. It’s a shame, too, because the service was excellent, and the menus/décor was amusing in a «not trying too hard» sort of way(e.g. the menu included a «FREE — Bad Advice» option in the sandwich section). My chicken burger was okay, at best. The chicken was a bit chewy and overspiced. The bun was buttered, which was not listed, and the avocado was bland. The sweet potato fries were actually quite good — that was a highlight. The chips were fresh and warm, another highlight, but the guacamole was somewhat bland, as well. Overpriced for what it was, but the location(Gaslamp) creates a certain need to raise prices. I’d prefer to try another spot in the future, but this place isn’t wretched. Just not that great.
