YAY!!! What a great first place to come to after moving back to San Diego!!! I was invited by a friend of a friend and let me tell you this place is AMAZING!!! I didn’t eat dinner yet but just had a couple of Martini’s. The staff is so nice and friendly! They give generous drink portions that aren’t overtly priced. My friend ordered the sweet potato fries and they were so good to snack on while we all chatted. I got to meet so many new people as well. Definitely will be back for Happy Hour!!!

I had a great birthday brunch here for 24 people, the service and food was great. It’s disco themed with a terrific staff. The hostess Ria was incredibly accommodating in my request for special seating, plus she sang me a song.(She’s a stage star around San Diego theater, and several other local venues.) Spence was our server and treated us great… very patient considering the size of our group. I’d definitely consider another group event here. I’ve been to many shows too, Martini’s Above Fourth is great staple in the neighborhood!

My boyfriend and I were in San Diego celebrating our anniversary. This place was 5 mins walking distance from our hotel so we decided to stop by for happy hour on a Sunday afternoon. There were only a couple of other groups, not crowded at all. Our server went over the menu with us and we ended up ordering several drinks as we were there, they were very tasty and the quality of the drinks remained constant. Our server was attentive and even as more people started coming in his service remained very good. The atmosphere was nice and there were music videos playing. As it got later a couple of lounge singers came and sang covers of songs and took requests, a little loud for the size of the space, but still enjoyable. Will definitely come back next time we’re in the neighborhood

Great place for happy hour, unless you’re seated at the bar when they have entertainment in which case you have to scream over the speakers. Several customers and bar tenders have mentioned it to the owner, to no avail. If you don’t mind screeching at your dinner companion, do try the charred Brussels sprouts, great addition to the menu!

The drinks are expensive and really really strong. At $ 15 a martini I was expecting something delicious… While they are really strong, they are also quite sweet. I could not have more than one, mostly because of how sweet they were. Tried the mango tango, forever young. On the plus side there is live music. Ps for those that didn’t know, it’s a gay bar. Sadly didn’t see any hot girls. Only older women

My girlfriend. & I had the Benny, which were beautifully poached eggs over crab cakes on an English muffin with hollandaise. This was served with a skewer of fresh fruit that was in season and perfectly sweet and country home fries with green and red bell pepper. The temperature of the food was perfect presentation was top notch and the disco scene was really cute as well if I had two more hands, I would give this place 4 thumbs up.

It was so much fun! We did the disco brunch as a group of four girls, dance and got to be silly. Our server was hilarious, and very friendly; we just loved him! Also the peanut butter cup martini is what I assume heaven taste like.

The only thing that I liked about this place that I was with my friends. The bartender that was helping us wasn’t very nice, he seemed like he was very irritated that I was asking him about food, even though I had just ordered my beer. And I’m looking through the menu because I’m quite the picky eater, and then I finally decided on sweet potato fries. He had checked on me before I decided but I was having a conversation with my friend and had been back and forth between the menu. When I finally ordered, he was a bit sarcastic for my taste saying that«that was a lot of work just for sweet potato fries.» … Excuse me? Don’t rush me just because you’re in a sassy mood and don’t wanna be at work. And he just continued to put up this stiff attitude the entire time I was there and I was over it. I don’t plan on coming back unless I’ve got a good reason. +1 for the sweet potato fries though.

Fantastic place for a martini. Aside from the terrible parking scene, just an out and out winner. The happy hour martinis are perfect. I believe the house vodka is Svedka, which is a very underrated vodka and makes an excellent martini. The food is very good, and you can’t beat the friendly staff and the atmosphere on the patio. It IS Hillcrest, so not a lot of single straight ladies around, but it’s not really a hook up kinda place anyway. Just a great place to meet some friends and have a few deadly happy hour martinis after work or to start a big night out. I have heard the live music shows are great, but haven’t seen them in person.

Martini’s has been our go to bar in the neighborhood for years! If you want the best kept secret in San Diego here it is. The drinks, the food, the service, my god it’s better than we even deserve. Erik the bar manager, and bartenders/servers Joey and Marshall made us feel like family since the fist time we stepped off the elevator. Our favorite drinks? An extra dirty martini, the Hail Mary if you’re the spicy type, and the Creamsicle if you have a sweet tooth. We don’t have cable either so Monday night movies are a win!

I found this place with a groupon, which was for Disco Brunch. The food was good, they staff was very friendly. I liked how they had original videos from the disco era playing on a wide screen. The prices were reasonable. It was Sunday and there wasn’t very much parking so we ended up paying to park in a lot. It was a fun way to start the day.

So I write this review in hopes that a manager or someone in charge reads this. I gave this place multiple chances, and our last visit was the last straw. While I may sound like I am being nasty, this is a genuine effort to point out some serious staff-level service problems that we have experienced at this place… with the hopes that one day they will correct it(because the drinks themselves are actually really good!). Husband and I have come here before and experienced less than stellar service. Always in the form of really poor attitudes from the bar and wait staff, and even mistreatment. As I write this I realize it’s probably our fault for giving this place more than one chance(won’t happen again believe me). This last time our group orders food, and the waiter comes by while my friend is still eating not once, but twice while he was mid-mouthful within the same 5 minute span! Clearly he was not done, and it felt like the waiter was pressuring us to close out because he wanted to leave and go wherever he goes for drinks. Cut to it’s time to get the check, we ask for it and our waiter says he will be back. Five minutes go by, nothing. Ten… still nothing. So I get up and see our waiter sitting counting his receipts. I go up to him to ask him again for our check… and before I can say anything(and without looking up), he snippily says«ummm…you can ask a bartender for whatever you need.» At this point I have had it and I just stood there and told him«CHECK. NOW.» He very reluctantly got up, gave me a look, and handed me my check with no comment or acknowledgement that he forgot or for his crap attitude. Frankly I am not one who cares about getting an apology as I don’t care… but do not throw attitude(«shade» I think is the term this young lad would have used) when you are in the wrong and forgot and have paying clients. I’m sorry, but if you are a waiter and expect to be tipped, in no way do you get to act«disturbed» when you were the one who forgot about your table. The thing is, the drinks are actually really good here… a bit expensive but really good! It’s a shame because they’ve managed to make the service so bad here that it is definitely not worth going to this place even with the good drinks, considering that you have other options that have good drinks in the gayborhood and much better service. When I have come here, I have brought groups and brought friends around that wouldn’t be in the neighborhood otherwise. We will gladly take our business elsewhere from this point forth. Good luck, because from the lack of skill hired here I can tell you will definitely need it.

Happy hour 4 to 7 every day makes me very happy!!! The specials are raspberry, or citrus Cosmo’s. Or try their lemon, or vanilla drops which are filled to the rim within chilled martini glasses! They are only six dollars during happy hour! There’s also a happy hour menu of food and they recently added street tacos(three for six dollars) but my favorite items on the happy hour menu are still the sweet potato fries and crab cakes. Plus if you’re not a sweet potato fan they have regular fries for $ 4 as well. Friday nights this place is packed by 7pm so find your spot near the stage to enjoy the musical entertainment as well great location, great friendly staff and the best selection of martinis I’ve seen! They pour a strong drink so don’t bother ordering their martinis if you prefer a light drink… these martinis are meant to be strong… so enjoy and fill up on water if you dare to have more than one. I wish they would bring back the little mini martinis for two dollars it was a great way to have a little extra drink without ordering another full glass.

FAAAAAAAAAAAAAABUOLOUS!!! We came in with a groupon for DISCO brunch on a sunday morning. Its on the second floor so take the elevator up. When the doors open, your walking into the 70s! I was greeted immediately with a lot of smiles. The décor is straight out of the seventies including woodpaneling and mirrored walls. Two large screens one on the stage and one on the wall, is playing disco videos and the strobe lights are going. They have carafes of mimosas with a blend of any type of juice on the menu. Its 12 dollars and they put an entire bottle of champagne per carafe in it. We ordered two of them for the table. I ordered the«Saturday night fever» Which is a veggie omelet with a side of fresh fruit. The food was delicious, the drinks were strong and when that morning buzz kicks in the place comes even more to life. All you hear around you is happy chatter, laughter and music. Its pretty close to my idea of heaven. Spencer was our waiter and made sure we were well taken care of and enjoyed our first experience even going so far as to play«Its raining men» on request.(Sidenote if you have never seen the video; go youtube it now. Will make your whole day) At the end the lady who seems to help run the place came and sat in our booth to talk to us. I have never felt so welcome somewhere. I WILL be going back for another sunday brunch and will recommend it to all my friends.

The martini’s were actually pretty good! But from the time we(my fiancé and I) stepped foot in this place, that seemed to matter less and less. We got in the elevator to enter this place and a guy held the elevator door open for us. We had high hopes. As soon as we took a seat at the bar, we looked at the menu. By the time we closed our menus we expected to be helped. After waiting for about 5 minutes, we decided to move to the patio(which was not as busy as the inside restaurant). The guy that held the elevator door ended up working there/being the manager and taking our order! It wasn’t even his night to work(he was having a drink himself) but still managed to give us better service then the bartenders did who were on the clock. He apologized for the wait and thanked us for our patience by only billing us for 1 of the 2 martini’s we ordered. It was nice enough for me to leave the tap open even tough we initially planned on only getting 1 drink. We were even planning to leave him a really big tip. After we finished our drinks we tried to order another. After 1 failed attempt my fiancé went to the bathroom and I kept trying. When he came back, no one helped me, so we decided to leave. It took both of us on either end of the bar to ask for our check(the bartenders were NOT busy). So when we finally did, we decided to leave 0 tip. Sorry to the guy who helped us! But bartenders aren’t entitled to a tip(unlike popular believe) but have to earn it. And in this case, they didn’t even earn the money we payed for that 1 drink!

When I need a martini, this is my go-to. Their cocktail menu is *really* extensive, though, and it’s easy to get overwhelmed, especially if you don’t like sweet cocktails. So try this… If you like classic vodka martinis, go for the Dirty Executive. It’s not too dirty, it’s got blue cheese olives and a red pepper and cracked black pepper in the drink, but it’s not spicy, it’s just got a lil’ kick. Fave drink here, hands down. if you like Cosmos, get a Pearl Necklace(yes, it’s named after what you think it’s named after). It’s pomegranate vodka, white cran and lime with a sugared rim. Maybe something else, but it’s not too sweet, a tiny bit tart and goes down easily. There’s a joke there, but I’m going to refrain. Bottom line(there I go again), this is a great place to go for happy hour, pre or post-dinner drinks with friends or a date. The service is friendly and attentive, the entertainment usually cabaret-style.(And often the lovely Ria, who is always amazing.) Oh and get some fries with the dipping sauces at the bar to soak up some of that booze.

Fellas, guys, gentlemen, hombres, lads — there are a whole lot of dudes up in here! Not great for my dating life, but excellent for my drinking life. Martinis was the first stop on a birthday crawl last weekend and the advertised signature martini certainly set the tone. I should have guessed that with«martinis» in the name that it was going to be good, but damn, this one was near perfect. Hit me like a ton of bricks and I’ll be back often seeing that the $ 10.00 price tag was well worth it. We also shared some«man candy,» which was a side of slightly sweet, mildly spicy and perfectly flat bacon. Some of the best bacon I’ve ever had and it may be in my best interest to put a cardiologist on speed dial if I plan on frequenting this place. Good stuff, Martinis!

Fish tacos are whatevs but the crab cakes will tickle your taste buds and leave you wanting more. We’re talking actual crab here and not the usual filler. Friends were very happy with their entrees(I think one of them ordered a chicken saltimbocca?). Drinks were very strong and tasty, just like I like my men. Just kidding. The martinis are filled to the very brim, accurate to a millimeter from the rim. I am not sure how the bar is able to accomplish this feat of human ingenuity without spillage. It boggles my mind. Service was fantastic.

We stumble onto this place because we didn’t want to go to Mardi Gras Hillcrest, which btw looked like a sad version of Cityfest. Pay $ 20 more and go to Gaslamp! Seriously it was so lame… luckily Martinis saved the night! They had live music and the gay community is so friendly. It was a fun time with some good friends. Beer selection wasn’t the greatest but duhh, they aint known for their beer! I didn’t get a martini because not so much of a fan, maybe next time.

Spent Fat Tuesday here with my friends last night. It was so random… we were on our way walking back to the apartment. Then we heard music, people cheering, singing, sounded like a lot of fun and we decided hey lets check this place out. Walked in, you see a lady and a pianist singing on stage. Everyone else is singing or dancing along. Sat down on our table, we served water and placed an order for beers and seasoned fries(delicious). There was a jar on the table, «Guess the amount of beads in a jar» winner gets 500 $. My friends and i submitted our guess… we didnt win… our guess was way off. I put 6,550 but it was actually 12,380ish. I should have known to look around the jar and not just one side haha maybe i would have won if i doubled my number. It was a great night of singing and celebrating fat tuesday. Servers were friendly and a lot of entertainment.

5 stars. Just because there’s no other place like it San Diego. My go-to, favorite spot. Why? My love for Carol is immeasurable. Chad, Frank and Travis are always delights. And the martinis and bar bites rival any other imposter. I’m just madly in love with MA4 and can’t imagine existence without it.
