I ate here last night. Very clean, love the the authentic heavy tables and chairs and the restroom was sparkling clean. I’ve been eating Mexican food my entire life and I had THE Best Chili Rellano I have ever had in my life. The very friendly young gal who worked there said her Aunt is the owner and the Chili Rellano reicipe is her grandmothers. She said they use fresh Pasilla chili’s and prepare them from scratch with authentic Mexican cheese inside. ITWASINSANEGOOD! They need a better building because this restaurant outclasses their current location.

There are two taco shops in San Diego that I regard as «world class» El Zarape in University Heights is one and Margo’s is the other, they are about neck and neck so here goes… Margo’s is amazing, if we’re talking quality then Margo’s is #1. All the ingredients and everything that go into it are fresh, made from scratch and the highest quality of meats There are no gimmicks, they deliver an authentic yet unique taste that a typical«berto’s» fail to deliver time and time again The service is good but not great. We went in right before 9pm, before they closed and were told we could only have it go to, kind of a bummer, but like I said service is good but not great The prices are a little steep for being in PB, but I always say you get what you pay and wait for… unless it’s happy hour then you get more then you paid for. I do like the fact that they are not open all hours of the day, this guarantees freshness, I would also be broke… getting the drunchies in PB i would B line to the best and tastiest burrito all the time… we all know that it all tastes the same when you’re wasted. come here, eat here, enjoy every bite of it, because you’re going to want more and crave it… constantly

I’ve tried this place before thanks to a friend taking us here when I helped him move. He treated us to dinner. It’s very good. Yes I would say it’s better than Rubio’s like Jeremy H says. Yeah it’s a little pricier than some taco joints, but it is better than a lot of them. It’s not a fancy dancy place, but it’s all good. It is a sit down restaurant and they take your order and bring it to your table, nothing fancy. You can also order to go. Carne asada is very good. Beans are very good. Carnitas tacos awesome. Steak and mushroom burrito is deelicious with carmelized onions and your choice of rice or beans. Highly recommend! Right next to Domino’s Pizza

I tried the large carnitas tacos combo. The rice and tortilla was fine. The carnitas was very good. A few pieces were overcooked and a little more crunchy than I would prefer. Overall the tacos were above average. I’m giving this place an extra star for the great service by the guy behind the counter that served as our waiter. He was pretty attentive and very friendly.

I first found out about one of a kind Mexican Grill shortly after they opened. I proceeded to tell everyone who would listen about how incredibly good the food at this place is. I wanted to help to ensure their continuing success so that I would never have to be denied their truly authentic, superbly delightful, delectable, delicious, mouth watering mini shrimp tacos. I have commandeered many a wayward hungry soul to this place and everyone of them has become a regular there. I love the two main guys that I usually have the pleasure of dealing with. One of them is usually doing the cooking and the other is usually doing the serving. They are rather big guys and nobody can cook better than this particular guy. I wish I knew him by name. I have nothing but good things to say about this establishment. You guys ROCK! Keep up the great job…

There aren’t enough superlatives to explain just how awesome this place is. The food is rich with robust flavor in large portions. That being said. it’s not for dieters. But life is too short to miss out on the best al pastor burrito of all time. The staff are always smiling and they are glad to share their love of Mexican food with the world! The prices are reasonable and it’s in a good location in PB for parking. Highly recommended.

How to lose a new customer for life: Walked in at about 9:30pm on a Saturday. Server guy sitting around chatting with another guy. As we walk up to the counter he tells us «you can only order to go». Nothing worse then staff kicking customers out because they are anxious to pack it up. If you are open you are open. If you are closed put the closed sign up and lock the door.

One of my favorite restaurants. The food is always fresh. I love that when I order rolled tacos they don’t take frozen or pre-rolled tacos out! They actually fill the tortilla and stuff them! LOVEIT! The chicken enchilada suiza here are my favorite. I’ve yet to find a place that does them better. Guacamole is on point!

So they lose 2 stars because they did not honor the happy hour they have listed on their website. It clearly says $ 2 large tacos and $ 3 drinks. Neither of those was available and instead you have to buy 2 drinks for $ 6, and cannot just get one. That’s really the only reason we went there, to try their happy hour which no longer exists so be aware of that! We had some shrimp, al pastor and carne asada tacos and they were good. But unless you live in the area, not worth the drive. There are many other places in SD that have awesome tacos!

I eat here once a week, and I currently don’t know any better Mexican restaurant on this side of the border. For the quality and portions I actually find it cheap. The same amount of food would cost twice as much at Rubio’s a few block up the street. Regarding the service, I don’t think there is anything to rave about. It’s OK, nothing fancy, but since she is bringing those incredibly tasty and rich fried fish tacos and pollo adobado burritos to my table, she could cuss at me for all I care :) I do find the chips and salsa not being free very unusual but it actually helps me not ruining my apetite with chips. Their enchillada sause is the best. I feel very lucky to have this restaurant in my neighborhood.

Friendly service and good food. Started with the chips & salsa which were fresh and good but the salsa is more like a pico de gallo. The waitress suggested the al pastor burrito and I’m glad she did. The pastor was excellent, crispy, tender and very flavorful.

Excellent. Wonderful. Delicious. My favorites are the Fish Burrito and the Veggie Burrito, but everything is really, really good, and the staff is always friendly. Don’t forget about happy hour, which is 4 – 7 Monday through Saturday, when they have great deals on beer and food. Why go to bland old Subway when you can have way more exciting Margo’s Mexican next door? Five thumbs up.

What can I say about this place? They make everything fresh, nothing processed, and they have amazing recipes. Take it from someone who was born and raised on authentic/tex-mex/cali-mex food. I am extremely anal when it comes to quality mexican food. This is the best taco shop in SD period(right up there with Old Town mex food). Nevermind all the«bros» and MMA wannabe pussies, the STD-ridden skanks of PB, fuck them, ignore them, just check this place out. You won’t regret it, I promise you. If you want real mexican food then look no further. Santana’s is garbage, and all the«bertos» are all processed shit that comes out of a can, and yet, they have the nerve to call it «authentic» nevermind it being called«mex-food». And don’t get me started on Taco Bell, that’s mex-food for clueless white people.

Best Mexican Food in Pacific Beach… none can test. Carne Asada/Pastor is cut fresh of the Trompo(verticle spit, that holds and cooks Al Pastor). Outside of SD’s barrios… It’s rare to come across a spot that does pastor authentic style, cut fresh off the trompo. Your Pastor aint OG unless it’s cut fresh off the trompo. If you order their Cali Burrito you’ll be impressed… they freak it different from all other SD spots,…the fries inside are cajun seasoned. If You like seafood&carne asada… Order A California Surf&Turf Burrito(It’s a Cali w/shrimp)…It’s the Highest Quality Surf&Turf Burrito in all of SD… Trust me, I’ve tried em all.(No offense to JV’s/Colimas) The staff here are cool peeps… On my first trip here they had some Reggae thumpin on he soundsystem… some Greogry Isaacs. Now that’s what’s up… I get along with almost anyone that knows&plays the righteous tunes. For all the SD Mexican Food connoisseurs like myself… I Highly recommend this spot. Trust in this review&the reviews below mine… walk in anticipating&walk out satisfied knowing that your hard earned dollar was well spent.

I’m not sure who Margo is sleeping with to get such lofty reviews, but this place is not nearly as good as it’s more authenticly mexican– cousin JV(see: JV’s Taco Shop). The food here definitely isn’t bad, but the 4.5 stars gave me lofty expectations which were not delivered. Friendly waitstaff. (Update as of 7⁄21: dropped from 3 to 1 star). Apparently some of the ownership took great offense to the above review. Instead of politely asking me to reword it, or to take it down, they decided to take the route of a personal attack. When I responded suggesting that’s probably not the best way to deal with a customer, their response was: «It is no problem with us if we lose you as a customer we don’t need customers like yourself.» If you’re crazy about the food here, then this probably won’t change your mind. If you’re on the fence or have never tried it, I suggest you take your business to an establishment that doesn’t treat their customers this way.

I really wanted to give this place 4 stars… but… First off, the service was great really friendly and attentive. For lunch time though the place was pretty empty. I ordered the California Surf and Turf burrito, it took a little while to get there. So while waiting I noticed that the chairs there weren’t that comfortable and the table was slightly sticky not too annoyingly sticky though. When the food did come, it was a HUGE burrito. it could have lasted me 3 meals. The food was AWESOME. It tasted great, I ended up eating the whole thing. I felt like a pig but it was that good. I kinda wish they had a fountain drink option instead of just canned drinks. Now here comes the reason for the 2 star rating. After lunch I had to go back to work, so while I was working on a clients car, I had the unstoppable urge to evacuate my bowels. I was out in Coronado so I had to hightail it over to the bathroom by the beach. It was a very rancid experience, but I put it all behind me, literally and figuratively then went back to work. Now a few hours later at my second job, the urge resurfaced with a vengeance. 3 times. THREE. After a very tiring experience I went home to what I thought would be a relaxing end to the day. I WASWRONG. Another 3 more times I had to *ahem* evacuate. For those of you counting, that’s SEVEN times. Seven times that California surf and turf burrito wrecked havoc on my sphincter. Needless to say I do not want to relieve that experience ever again. Hopefully this time was a just a fluke, maybe with time I will come back to try this place…

Distinctly fresh ingredients, solid wood tables, sparkling clean environment, welcoming staff, delicious carnitas torta. Me likes Margos mucho. Slightly more expensive than your standard burrito place, but definitely worth the extra buck or two for quality and freshness.

I absolutely love this place — especially the rocking happy hour! My neighbor and I met up there Tuesday — I was starving so I went straight there and she walked — we literally live one block away, but I couldn’t wait — I badly needed my cold beer, chips and salsa, and garlic shrimp burrito! (I was sporting a hang over from the night before at Blarney’s –that will be another rocking review– go Blarney’s) Margo’s happy hour has cheap offerings but with large portions. I love the shrimp, the chile relleno’s, wet beans, salsas(all of them). And the carne asada rocks! My neighbor and I ate there on the Friday June 6th — I had the chile relleno, shrimp taco, and a small side of wet beans — just spank my ass and call me honey! it was that freaking great! They used REAL cheese in the chile relleno, light batter(they didn’t bury it like most poser mexi restaurants do) and a very favorable chile. The shrimp… they use jumbo shrimp and I think I had like 6 – 7 on my small taco! Check out their happy hour — it’s all cheap and perfect portions — each day is something diff! Trust me you’ll love this place! Oh y eah — the tortilla soup is amazing too!!! I ask for extra avocado’s!
