I was hoping it would be a delicious and nostalgic place in the hood, but no, it just missed on most everything. Constructive criticism is needed and required here. You can’t burn the eggs, bring out dirty plates(twice) and then«every» employee leave for about 5 min, I couldn’t pay for my horrible food and leave, just a bizarre experience, maybe it was a bad day. Note: They gave us these thin tiny napkins, and just one each, …no more for you.

Took my family a party of 6 to have breakfast on September 6, 2014. We went here because this place had 4 ½ stars and we like to support small businesses. Well I regretted my decision almost immediately. First the waiter took only 4 out of 6 orders and completely forgot the other 2. The food took forever to come out, everyone in our party ate at different rates, I think we waited a good 45 minutes for the last plate to finally make it to the table. The food itself was pretty average, my wife had a goat stew that was very skimpy on the goat. I had a huarache with pork which was ‘OK’, my brother had eggs with cactus cause he said there is no way they can screw up such a basic breakfast… well they burned the eggs! Last thing I want to mention is that this restaurant is part day care as the restaurant owners children ages(6&10) were sitting at the table right next to us doing what kids do(being loud!). Safe to say I will never come back again.

Only because there was no hominy in my menudo and big slices of meat. They had no napkins to clean my mouth either. Lunch is probably better. Corn tortillas were on point though.

There isn’t much more to add from the other reviews. Fresh tortillas are unbelievable and the service is truly like being in someone’s home. We had the basic egg breakfast and the nopalitos platter. They bring everything to the table for you, even the salsa bar. We’ll be back!

I stopped here for lunch after reading the reviews on Unilocal.I was the only one there, which was too bad because there is a lot of care in the food. I had pork in green sauce. The food was fresh and tasty, with excellent hand-made tortillas. I would stop by again if I were in the area.

Some excellent Mexican food coming out of here. Menu is in total Spanish. Wanted the barbacoa, but Ma said no. They were pushing carnitas and the combo specials is a great deal for $ 8.50. You get a pound of carnitas, beans, tortillas and they package the salsa, cilantro and onions for you. If you need a good home cooked meal at home this is what you grab. Carnitas are amazing. The smoke, the brine and the flavors will impress anyone. Tortillas are excellent as well and the salsa is delicious. I’ll be back soon for some birria.

This was such a diamond in the rough. Small, quaint, simple, and food that will KNOCKYOURSOCKSOFF. Ma Eugenia freshly presses and grills homemade thick corn tortillas to serve along side her fresh, perfectly spiced dishes like pork in chile rojo sauce, shredded meat tacos, etc. The husband and wife owners are kind, very welcoming and obviously wants their restaurant to succeed. We will make sure to stop by their delicious restaurant every time we are in the area!

Truly a great and secret spot in an up and coming neighborhood! Don’t let Guy Fieri or Adam Richman in this place or the doors will be blown off their hinges. I originally ate at this place about a year and a half ago and to see that it only has five reviews is insane to me. Well, now it has six with mine but still — WTF?! Yeah you have to navigate a difficult part of town and the parking is not ideal but we aren’t hunting chupacabra here. It’s not on a slick corner location but it does have a big yellow and red sign that is clearly seen. Expect a limited, fresh and authentic experience… not a taco shop! Never will you see more than two people working behind the glass counter loaded with pork and chicken stewing in different sauces. Mama will be there pounding out tortillas made to order and she demands that you sit and let her bring your food to you. The language barrier exists but it isn’t impossible to get your order through with a smile and some precise pointing. No frills here, kids. Just great Mexican food hiding right in front of your eyes. I personally ordered the pork special plate with rice and beans. I came with red pork and green pork and a stack of those fresh tortillas. When their competition is bursting at the gills, walk away and treat yourself to a little piece of Mexican heaven for $ 7.50. Totally worth it!

How anyone can give this place less than a «Woohoo! As good as it gets!» for the food is beyond me. This is like sitting down to eat in one of your high school buddy’s kitchen and his grandmother from Mexico is cooking for you. I get it is lacking in atmosphere and parking isn’t easy, but it an easy walk from the Orange Line 25th& Commercial trolley stop and worth the effort. Great pork in green sauce, great carnitas and great tamales. Done lunch here, breakfast is my next meal I plan here.
