Tried this place on GrubHub last night. Problem was we were shorted on the seafood — ordered a shrimp/clam dish. 2 shrimp!!! Wife’s Pad Thai was overcooked and soggy. Maybe a function of having food delivered? Won’t be ordering from these guys again.

Language barrier and they do not use regular alcohol. Cute set-up though. Not cute enough for me to forget the hassle I had trying to ask what kind of vodka they use for martinis. I went through 3 servers. Oh, and you don’t get refills — because they never bring them.

This restaurant is horrible, the food has no taste it’s very bland. It’s a poor representation of the Thai cuisine, I ordered island fried rice and it was so wet and messy and flavorless. I would not recommend this restaurant for dinner.

Haven’t been here in a while and it never fails with the tasty food here. I came in with my family for the lunch special and it was the perfect amount of food for the price. The yellow curry was very good and perfect to wash down with my Thai iced tea.

Have eaten here for lunch a few times with co-workers. Lunch menu is very good and VERY vegan friendly and adaptable. Portions are generous, well-spiced and reasonably priced. Interesting décor.

Food is mediocre at best. Food showed up quick but I specifically put in special instructions that I was in a hotel room and needed utensils. Food showed up with no utensils. I now have food with no way of eating it. Called the restaurant and they said they were so sorry but there was nothing they could do about it because they were busy. Had to go to restaurant next store in order to eat. Food was then cold. Very frustrating.

Lotus Thai lunch specials are the best deal in town. For under $ 10 you get soup(Tom kah on Fridays) noodles or curry or whatever Thai dish you dig; egg roll and side salad with some delicious ginger dressing. The service is rapid yet friendly and the place is beautiful inside. Street parking only but you can usually find a Metered spot within a block or two. I love lunch here and am so happy to go whenever anyone suggests it!

I have been to Lotus Thai several times. I have dined in, ordered take out and even done delivery through grubhub($ 15 min order and $ 5 delivery fee). The food here is pretty good and I would say their spicy scale(mild, medium, or hot) is pretty spot on(I always order it medium spicy and it is perfect). The specials range from $ 17 to about $ 25, the apps range from about $ 6 to $ 15, and entrees range from about $ 12 to $ 17. My favorite items so far are the drunken noodles($ 11.95 w/chicken or $ 13.95 w/shrimp), Pad Thai($ 11.95 w/chicken or $ 13.95 w/shrimp), yellow chicken curry($ 11.95) and the Tom Kha soup($ 7 to $ 12 depending on size). Be sure to save room for dessert. I really enjoyed the fried banana($ 4.50) and the mango sticky rice($ 6.50). Ambiance of the restaurant would fall under upscale ish since it is dimly lit and has a unique rustic vibe. There is also a full service bar. Service here is decent, but I don’t come here for the service, I come for the location and the food. Lotus is a great place to grab dinner before heading out into Gaslamp or even before or after a baseball game. Lotus is located just a few blocks from Petco Park.

I’ve been here a few times and the food /service is always good. I came in tonight and ordered the Bangkok Beef Salad… it’s AMAZING! The Bangkok Beef Salad is the reason why I’m writing this Unilocal review. I even took some to go because I want my boyfriend to try it. Naree was a great server. Very sweet! The staff is always super friendly and helpful and Alex(the manager) is so sweet! Every time I come in, he is constantly visiting tables to make sure everything is excellent.

This restaurant had mixed reviews however I thought I would give it a try since I had a BOGO. Well the masses were correct this is very mediocre Thai food and I couldn’t use my passport card BOGO. We had the beef pad Thai and yellow curry lunch special both medium heat. Let me first say the beef was dry and flavorless as well as the noodles were over cooked. The beef didn’t have any developed noodle flavors but seemed more like cooked meat just added to the dish. The medium heat was light whereas I had to ask for additional spice and soy sauce. Really no pungent delightful Thai flavors. The yellow curry was average tasting at best however it was so hot we couldn’t eat it. Now I like spicy food however this was ridiculous. One dish wasn’t hot enough and the other was to much. I then handed my passport card to the waiter of which I was told it can’t be used for the lunch special. Can’t say I will ever return to this establishment.

Instead of spending $ 12 on their drunken noodles, you can create a similar recipe at home by drinking a shot of straight vinegar followed by a quick spritz of pepper spray to the face(bear repellant should work too). Garnish with lime and antacids.

I work in the East Village and come here regularly to enjoy their $ 10 lunch specials. I’ve never had anything less than great. I always choose chicken as the meat since it’s always white breast meat. Kind of a rarity when getting Asian takeout. I love the Pad See Ew, the Panang Curry and the Vegetable Delight. Lunch specials are filling as they come with a cup of soup, side salad with tangy ginger dressing, small egg roll and your choice of brown or white rice. Their«medium» spicy packs a punch, so be mindful of that if you can’t tolerate too much heat. Food always comes out fast. Absolutely love this place!

Very disappointed. When I eat at a Thai restaurant, I always order Pad Thai. I was craving Pad Thai tonight, but I didn’t want to leave my house, so I got the food delivered to my house by Eat24. I was told it would take a maximum of 60 minutes to be prepared and delivered, EVENTHOUGH my house is less than 10 minutes away from the restaurant WITH traffic. But I really want Pad Thai so I thought«Okay, whatever. I’ll wait». I called the restaurant 5 minutes after I placed the order to request my Pad Thai to be made with chicken instead of tofu and was told that it’s too late and my order has been made and the driving had already left. 5MINUTES!!! How can Pad Thai be made in 5 minutes unless it’s coming pre made straight from the fridge to the microwave. An hour passed. my Pad Thai still hadn’t arrived. so I called again to see what was taking so long and was told that they forgot something so the driver had to come back. At this point, I was frustrated and hungry. ANOTHER30 minutes, no food. Finally, when the food arrived, it was disgusting. The sauce in the Pad Thai was sweet and straight up tasted like sugar. Also the«eggs» and«crushed peanuts» were nonexistent. My $ 12 were not wisely spent and I would never order Pad Thai from this place again. Actually, because of their shitty service, I won’t ever order ANYTHING from here again.

Great place to grab dinner on the fly or sit down for a nice meal. The service can be a little slow, but if you’re down to be patient the food is worth it. Love the panang curry and lunch specials. Pad thai isn’t bad either. Definetly a go-to for Thai in the gaslamp.

Great lunch specials! Enjoyed the flavorful panang curry with tofu. Lunch special includes soup, salad and spring roll. It makes for very filling lunch and all for 7 $!

Came here with my boyfriend while we were staying a block away on vacation. Service is a bit slow, but we enjoyed the food. We came here two different nights. We got a curry and noodle dish each time. We asked for medium spicy the first time and felt like it was a little too much. Next time we asked for it to be mild and it was just right. The place is clean and we liked the ambiance. We were definitely not disappointed. Would come back here.

My boyfriend’s family was in town and we were looking for a Thai restaurant near their Gaslamp hotel. Since neither of us spend much time downtown, we weren’t sure what to recommend and we ended up asking the hotel concierge for a recommendation within walking distance. As we started to walk to Lotus Thai, I took a look at the Unilocal reviews and noticed that my friend didn’t care for their pad see ew. Since that’s my usual Thai dish and I’m the one that first introduced to her to really good pad see ew, I knew that I was going to have to alter course. Since it was a warm day, I wasn’t in the mood for my other Thai staple, yellow curry. Instead, I decided to try the chicken fried rice, which proved to be just a-ok. The quantity was large and could easily feed two people but I hate onions and disliked that there was so many little pieces that easily got mixed in with the rice. I wish their pad see ew had better reviews(I noticed several other reviewers commenting on the sweetness of the dish when it usually balances the sweet with the salty). My boyfriend, however, loved his Massaman curry with tofu. He said the flavor was delicious and they did a great job getting his spice level, which is usually pretty high, correct. I guess I’ll have to try to the curry if we return.

I ordered the lunch chicken pad see ew and a Thai tea to go and I was a bit disappointed. Though my order was ready when I got there, the woman behind the bar was not at all pleasant. She hardly even acknowleged me when I walked in and did not say another word to me. She threw my receipt on the bar and did not even say thank you… I debated not even tipping… The pad see ew was my least favorite I’ve ever had. Pad see ew usually has a very soy saucey taste, but this one was extremely sweet and I didn’t like it. The chicken was okay, not dry or anything, but did not have much flavor. It comes with an egg role and small salad. These items were actually decent. The egg roll was fluffy and the dressing on the salad was tasty. I ate those instead of my pad see ew. The Thai tea however, was one of the best I’ve had! It was very flavorful and I really enjoyed it. I wish it came in a little bit bigger to-go cup for the price. I am not sure if I’ll be trying this out for lunch again. I know there is another Thai restaurant down the block so I’ll likely try their pad see ew out first.
