Great food, great prices, I was surprised at how affordable and good the food was. Highly recommended.

I sorta thought twice about reviewing. …only because I don’t want to ever have to wait to sit here. Amazing homemade tortillas. This is seriously a hidden gem in the form of a San Diego Taco shop. Affordable, authentic, handmade fresh tortillas. Soups, taco dorados, did I mention the tortillas! everything was amazing. I’m on the hunt for handmade tortillas and this place delivered! Carne asada was excellent too

Best Mexican I’ve had for a long time. Only ate breakfast here, but it was excellent. The corn tortillas or hand made, hot, and delicious. The breakfast burritos are not too heavy on the eggs, saving room for the extras. And the final straw pushing up to 5 stars was the salsa — standard red and green but both better than the standard without question.

Hand made tortillas! You actually see the masa on a counter as she makes them! Can’t go wrong with that. Home style cooking and the lady serving is so nice. The place is so clean and there is outdoor sitting. Parking is a bit limited but you can park in the 99¢ store parking spaces for up to 1 hour.

I used to love this place and take all of my friends there. Everything was tasty and perfect until my last visit. I walked in on a Tuesday before work and asked«Rosa» for 6 tacos(6 $) they make their tortillas by hand here and today rosa had her hands all over mine., she had some blisters with pus in her hand while making my tacos. Blisters she got from a burn apparently …, I was kind of grossed out and decided I wasn’t going to eat them but then I paid for them anyway– since I felt bad for her. I was charged $ 60 for 6 tacos!!! I waited 15minutes to have her try and figure out how to reverse the charge on my credit card but I gave up and took cash from her instead. This happened more than a year ago and well I haven’t been back and don’t think I will anytime soon.

This place is hit or miss. I’ve a few decent dishes but I’m afraid to venture too far in the menu because I know some of their stuff can be on the flavorless side. I usually stick to the chile rellenos with rice and beans. Their home made tortillas are also a plus. Little parking in the tiny plaza, plenty of street pairing.

This was the first time we visited«La Cosina de Rosita» and we just LOVED It. We were looking for a new place to eat carnitas since our regular place had been close by the city, so we drove down Market Street looking for alternative, from the street we saw a bunch of signs with the food prepared at this hidden gem, so we decided to stop by. The first thing we noticed was that the place was SPOTLESS, and there were a number of people making sure that it was kept that way. At first i thought the place was pricey since I’m used to lower cost of food, but after looking at the whole menu decided to buy a Carnitas burrito while my mother got«manitas de puerco» from the comida corrida displayed at the stand. My burrito was priced at the same as other tacoshops i’ve visited, so i gave it a try. As soon as i got first byte i noticed the carnitas were just DELICIOUS, very little grease, meat was really tender and fresh. I was pleasantly surprised, since i am a pork lover, i can tell you this was one of the best burritos i had in the SD area. My mother also loved her dish and we talked to the owner who was very friendly. We promised to go back and we will today(next day) since we just LOVED it and want to try all the menu items sold there. This is the first time i leave a review but i think is the less i can do to increase awareness of this place and the food. HIGHLY recomended.

This place is awesome. Little hole in wall near the 99 cent store. Has some amazing authentic Mexican food. Reminds me when I am eating at someone’s house who is from Mexico! The tortillas are all hand made and rolled out to order. Can’t get any fresher then that. I have had all of their tacos and they are all delicious. Waiting for a cold day to try the albondigas as it looks and smells divine. Definitely check out this place if you are in the area. It is a huge step above and much better then most of the places around the area as not greasy and very fresh

This place is awesome. The restaurant is clean and well maintained and the service was very friendly and efficient. We ordered pozole, chile relleno, and fish tacos and everything was delicious. My husband went facedown into the pozole and only raised his head a few times to emphatically state, «That’s really good.» It came with freshly made corn tortillas that were still warm. The chile relleno was a tad bit spicy and filled with delicious melted cheese that wasn’t all greasy. The batter was very flavorful and complimented the spice of the chile and cooling creaminess of the cheese. The rice and beans were very good as well. The fish tacos were scrumptious. A tad small, but the fish was crispy and the white sauce perfect. We will definitely be back!

Best carne asada and pollo asada tacos I’ve ever had. The tortillas are fresh and made by hand. Fresh salsa and garnishes on the side.

Everyone wants to claim that they know the best Mexican restaurant in San Diego. I recently moved here and I’ve been severely disappointed in everyone’s recommendations. However, this place is amazeballs!

Tried this place for the first time today cause of their sign out front that said 99 cent tacos. I had fish and carnitas tacos and they were pretty darn good. When I first walked in I noticed a bag of dough and a tortilla press behind the counter so I was pretty stoked that they make their own fresh tortillas on the spot, I think it makes a huge difference in the taste any taco when the tortilla is freshly made. They also had all kinds of soups and other food on the warmers behind the counter. Think panda express but with really authentic looking mexican foods. I didn’t even know what most of it was but a lot of it looked muy delicioso. The birria looked awesome and so did the pozole. I will definitely be going back to try their other foods.

You feel like you are at your mother’s house here! Super friendly people, super delicious & authentic. I ordered the huevos con chorizo burro and he asked if i wanted beans on that, which I said yes. and also ordered the red mole. Tortillas made by hand. Felt like I was in someone’s home. Coming back very soon =)

I originally stopped in this place to grab a bowl of soup to help me recover from a long evening, but when I saw the chile rellenos a patron was eat, well I quickly changed my mind. The chile rellenos came with rice and beans and unlimited house made corn tortillas for $ 7.50.( ) You order at the counter and some foods are already pre-made like the soups and other items are made to order, like the tacos and such. The chile relleno came served in a light tomato sauce with nice chile seasoning. The relleno was great and came stuffed with melted white cheese.( ) It was well prepared and the egg batter adhered very well to the pepper. Well done. I used the relleno, rice, and beans to make me some tacos with the corn tortillas.( ) great stuff. Both the rice and beans were great, but I was especially found of the runny re-fried beans. They were creamy, well seasoned, and had a great robust flavor.( ) The rice was well prepared with a loose form, nice orange yellow color, and had great flavor.( ) Both of these would be great in a bean and cheese burrito… This place is definitely a local favorite. I came in around lunch time and locals were filing in for their daily meal. The people who work here were inviting and happy to have me there. So I skipped the soup…

The freshly, handmade tortillas would be enough for me to fall in love with this hole-in-the-wall place. Steamy and beautiful little corn perfection, oh my. Completely authentic. Had the chiles rellenos with rice and beans. Perfect meal. I will be going out of my way to revisit.

Top 5 most authentic Mexican spots in SD. Such a hidden gem. The birria de chivo is beautiful. Huge delicious bowl of amazingness that coats your ribs and heats your belly to heavenly pleasures. Can’t stop thinking about it. I love that they bring the ill bowls of cilantro, limes, jalapeños, salsa and onions to your table. It’s very cool to watch these women just work non stop making the most magical food. This place is perfect.
