Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

JDRF is a fundraising charity dedicated to finding a cure for Type 1 diabetes. I am biased, as I was an intern here, am heavily involved with the organization and have type 1 diabetes. But it really is a great chapter and organization as a whole. 85 cents of every dollar raised goes directly to research (which is really high for non profits). And a lot of the money goes back into the SD community because San Diego’s unique community with research, biotechs and universities. A lot of JDRF’s work is volunteer and grassroots based, as they only have 5 staff members, yet still raise a few million each year.
There are several events per year, the Walk to Cure Diabetes in October, The Promise Ball in May, Recipe for a Cure in February.
