Dr. Fox prescribed Ativan(a heavy sedative) for my father without ever seeing or assessing him. Evidently, the nurse at the hospital wanted an easy night, and called Dr. Fox for an order of Ativan. My father had sleep apnea, and the combination of this condition with Ativan could have suppressed his respiratory system and caused his death.(Ativan carries a warning for this.) Dr. Fox apparently didn’t bother to learn about my father’s conditions before prescribing Ativan. As it turned out, my father was given so much Ativan he was still asleep at dinnertime the next day. The nurse denied my father had been given anything, but his primary care physician finally admitted that another doctor(Fox) had ordered the Ativan against his orders. I was told it was only one dose, but later obtained the records and learned my father had been given two doses. Doctors need to prescribe according to the patient’s needs, not a nurse’s convenience.

Dr. Fox is my regular primary care doctor and in my 70 years, he is the best I have ever seen. Understanding, personable, knowledgeable and very thorough in his examinations and explanations. The only drawback is difficulty in getting an appointment since he is so busy.

Seeing as I am a fairly healthy lad(except for this exact moment the week after I go to the doctor), I hadn’t had a check up or physical in about 5 years. On the recommendation of a friend, I visited Dr. John Fox. This had to be one of the quickest visits let alone first time visits ever. The standard paper work took about 20 minutes and then I was called in immediately. Seems like normally they make you wait for half an hour at least. I got into my consult room and within a minute or so Dr. Fox came in to introduce himself and get things underway. He was very friendly, had great bed-side manor and seemed to do a good and thorough job. I felt like he was very personable and very professional. All in all, I was very pleased with my visit. Hopefully I won’t have to see him any time soon, but if I did, I couldn’t think of a better doctor and practice to go to! P. S. Don’t forget to cough!
