I found Jessop’s though the in store viewing program. There was one other San Diego jewelry store, which was actually closer to me, but after viewing their reputations it became clear that Jessop’s would be a smarter choice. I came in with my now fiancé to check out settings and then came back myself to view the stone. Jim was actually the one who helped me both times and was incredibly nice and knowledgeable on both occasions. They have a great selection in store and have the ability to custom make anything you might need. If you are looking at a Ritani engagement ring, you should be aware that there are several weeks to have a custom setting made. We had an overall great experience and all of her friends are jealous. Thanks Jim!

Twenty years ago, I bought an engagement ring at Jessops because of a high end reputation. I was educated by the staff on what makes a good diamond and why I should pay more for a good one. I selected a diamond for which I paid $ 4,300. They assured me it was a good investment which would retain its value. A few days ago I went in and they offered me only $ 2,000. Mr Jessop explained that it was not an ideal cut. Obviously I was not sold a good diamond originally, if after all these years it lost half its value. I would not do business with this firm again.

If ever you are looking for a unique, high quality vintage engagement ring, Jessop’s is a must to check out! After weeks of searching for the perfect antique engagement ring, my boyfriend and I stumbled upon the most beautiful ring online at Jessop’s which also happened to be a few thousand more than we could pay. Unfazed, we decided to email the shop for details on the ring including a request for extra pictures. We were met with a prompt response and numerous pictures from the friendly staff. So in love with the ring, we decided to come into the shop to see it in person. When we arrived, Carmen already had the ring pulled aside to show us. After hearing of our tight budget, she responded by offering to talk to the owner about switching out the center stone or possibly replicating the ring via the designers in house. A few days later, she emailed to say that the owner was willing to modify the piece despite their normal policy to keep estate pieces as is. They even took my desire to have an Old European Cut stone into consideration when finding a replacement diamond! Within days they had found a replacement stone which would put the ring within our price range. We now have an incredibly unique ring, thanks to the helpfulness of the amazing staff. Highly recommend!

I would like to recommend Phyllis at Jessop Jewelers. I was looking for an an engagement ring and Jessop Jewelers was on my short list of places to shop around. Phyllis was very helpful and explained everything about color, clarity, setting and AGS/GIA certification that I didn’t understand. Even when I ultimately went with another jeweler up in LA where I live, Phyllis still looked at pictures of the ring and gave me comments.

I’ve picked up a few small pieces from Jessop’s over the years, and they are always beautiful, unique, and high quality. There was no doubt in my mind that when it came time to purchase wedding bands for my now husband and myself, that this was where we were headed(I also dropped a not-so-subtle hint that the engagement ring should be from here too!). Sharon helped me through the process, and was utterly patient and professional. She has a thorough knowledge of their inventory, but also was able to tell me how companies have designed custom rings for them in the past. My husband has never worn any jewelry, and finding something he liked was quite a challenge. I am absolutely thrilled with all of our rings, and get compliments on my engagement ring probably once a week(and I’ve had it for a year and a half!). I simply cannot imagine buying something so important and meaningful blindly online — for me, no amount of online research outweighs a trustworthy professional. Go by and see Sharon! You’ll be so glad you did.

I had an incredible experience at Jessop Jewelers. A side micropave diamond on my engagement ring fell out, and I was referred to Jessop Jewelers to do the repair. Right from the beginning, the employees at Jessop’s made me feel so much better about the situation. Really, they went above and beyond. Phyllis, the manager, was truly exceptional. She has been in the business for many years and really exhibited her expertise in jewelry. She examined my engagement ring under her microscope and actually found a number of flaws that jeopardized the integrity of the ring. Her recommendation was to send it back to the original manufacturer to make sure they cured all of the defects in the ring. You may think, why is that exceptional? Well, I think how Phyllis handled the situation after discovering these defects really shows the care she and Jessop’s has for its customers. She wrote a letter detailing her findings(& emailed me a copy for my records) and actually shipped the ring for me to Florida under their store’s insurance policy. Not only did she do this, but she asked to see my wedding band too. She inspected it and also found that it had loose diamonds. She included this in the shipment and sent a second letter detailing the problems with this ring. She maintained constant communication to update me on what she was doing, finding, and recommending for the situation. Throughout the entire process Phyllis was honest, professional, and really showed me why it was best to have the original manufacturer work on the ring(so they can’t say another jeweler worked on it and caused the problems). While she recognized that they could just fix a few of the most glaring problems, she wanted to be sure that I had a sound ring that would last a lifetime without going back numerous times for repairs. I truly appreciate care that she took to assist me with this issue. All of the employees who work at Jessop’s have been there for years. They know what they are doing, give great advice, and they carry a beautiful collection of jewelry. I hope to do business with them in the future. Quick tip: They validate your parking in Emerald Plaza! Definitely makes this an accessible shop.

I had an issue with my watch a couple of weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised at the outcome and the professionalism of Sharon. Their jewelery is gorgeous and their knowledge vast.

My husband designed my engagement ring and wedding ring here. I think the lady he went through was named Sharon. He was very particular about the diamond and shopped it out hard. They gave him a fair deal with a great diamond that appraised for 3k more than we paid. My rings were beautiful. They appraise them every year and clean them anytime I walk past for free. During my last appraisal this year they found that three of my pave diamonds were getting loose so they sent it the manufacturer to have them reset for free even though the ring is now three years old. I really have enjoyed my experience there and I’m excited to go pick my ring up this afternoon!

I would 110% not recommend Jim Jessop for any jewelry services. His attitude and overall approach were not only insulting they were down right disrespectful. From the moment I walked in the door I felt like he was talking down to me and for example he even cut me off and said«excuse me can you let me talk.» In an economy like this customer service is what keeps someone coming back to your business and if Jim Jessop thinks that treating his potential or current customers in this manner is acceptable and respected he is wrong. If I worked for him I would be ashamed.

Jessop Jewelery designed a beautiful gold/diamond/initial pendant for me. They did a excellent job & I’m very happy with my new necklace. Keep up the great work.

I can not agree more with El N. more. My grandmother passed away and I was asked to try and scout a possible liquidation on pieces of jewelry. Mr. Jessops starts off by basically saying he thought the jewelry was stolen! I called in advance to make an appointment and tried to enquire what was needed or requested during the«appraisal/buying» session. They told me not to bring documentation! He then proceeds to tell me the 18k gold 2 carat diamond vintage Longines watch(one of 9 items) was barely good for scrap! All the other pieces were equally deplorable to the elite jeweler; however he still wanted me to forward the entire collection so he could offer me a price! WOW what a pompous, arrogant and insensitive jerk. They belonged to my grandmother for God’s sake. A polite no thank you would have sufficed just fine. Of course they are pleasant when you are buying! But unless you like feeling like a gutter rat, I would sell to a rabid raccoon before attempting to sell to this internment camp!

this is where i go for my estate /vintage jewelry in san diego. jessop’s has a gorgeous selection of antique diamond rings and this is where i got my wedding ring. there is always a good collection(at least one or two cases) of antique jewelry with varying price ranges, which makes it a good place for gifts(fancy gifts, for your wife or mom). the staff is very knowledgeable and professional. Jessop’s is a san diego institution, still family owned and operated. i can’t imagine where else one would go for vintage jewelry in san diego
