I called Dr. Yang’s office returning a phone call for my mom. First, a voice recording comes on instructing you what to do if you’re calling from a doctors office, insurance company, etc but it’s like 2 minutes long before you can even leave a message. I figured it was one of those press 1 for this, press 2 for that, but nope and they don’t give you an option to skip their lengthy voice mail so patients can just leave a message. A woman named Jacqueline answered. I told her who I was and our convo went like this: J: I see your mom was seeing a different specialist before we got her referral to Dr. Yang Me: Yes and now her primary care doctor is referring her to Dr. Yang. J: Well, she needs to see the Doctor she was seeing. She is already being attended to by him. Me: and why would that be? She can see any specialist of her choosing. J: As a professional courtesy to other Doctors we don’t see their patients. That other Doctor should be aware of it. Me:: obnoxious laugh: is that so? Well, a patient can choose to see any Doctor they wish. And according to you guys, you are accepting new patients. What if she wasn’t happy with the other Doctor? J: oh, no we would love to have her, it’s just our practice that the other Doctor is made aware. Me: Just so you know, she was happy with her previous specialist. However, she has a different insurance that his office does not accept and your office happens to be under her insurance ANDDDDD Dr. Yang came highly recommended by her broker. I don’t think it’s appropriate for you to tell patients they need to see their previous Doctor. If you want to extend professional courtesy to the previous Doctors then call them up and let them know yourselves!!! J: oh, ok well its just how we do it in our office. Would you like to schedule her an appt. Me: May I have your name, I think it’s important that the Doctor, our broker, and people are aware of the conversation that just transpired between us. Boy, did the tone of that conversation change after my last statement. This review is for her and not the Doctor. I mean my mom Is elderly and wouldve just said OK and thought she«HAD» to see her previous doctor. She wouldve been worried and stressed out not knowing what to do. My mom has me, so that is not the case. But, how many other people dont have daughters or other family members to help them? This is what chaps my a$$ about that whole conversation! YOUROFFICESHOULDBEWELCOMINGTONEWPATIENTS. I don’t know what Dr. Yang’s opinion is of her policy, or if it is indeed his own policy. I can say, that the customer service and professionalism of his office staff(Jacqueline) is horrible. She is the face of your practice Dr. Yang. You’re getting bad reviews due to your staff. Check your people, Dr. Yang :(
